This unusual Mission Oak Telephone Bench has a cabinet with a cut corner door on the seat side and I believe a candlestick phone may have sat upon the cabinet and the phone ringer box would be inside of the cabinet. The Condition is Good/ Very Good Pre-owned with normal signs of use and wear with some small bumps. Abrasions and some finish loss. Condition Report Cabinet top has wear to finish. Is slightly uneven in the front with a ring and dark spot in the finish at the back, has a filled nail hole on the right side and a chip ... morein the back corner as pictured. Bench seat has wear to the finish. Some scrapes, and a couple rings in the finish. There is a water spot at the back near the cabinet door, a chip in front right seat corner as pictured, and the seat planks have some glue residue on the underside. Cabinet door has a 3/8" gap on the side opposite the hinge and the spring ball catch for the door is slightly raised off the bench to engage the bottom of the door. Seat rail on side of bench has a very small amount of play. The base does not have the lift up seat. The drip pan is not original, but works very well. Very nice. Arts Crafts Art Nouveau era bench. The bench is iron, painted green, with 2 large griffins or winged lions, finished in gold, on each handle. The bench has 4 legs which are fixed and do not move. They are criss-crossed in the middle and the intersection is punctuated with a tole rosette. The bench is in very good condition with a couple of dings. These can be easily touched up with matched green paint. The bench is extremely sturdy and there are no wobbles or no looseness in it. The bench is stamped"Verona 318 Pat. Applied For" and the bench dates prior to 1920. This is a gorgeous accent piece! IMPRESSIVE ANTIQUE ARTS & CRAFTS GOTHIC POLYCHROME GILT IRON BENCH SHIELD CREST
We are pleased to offer this incredible. Antique, Arts and Crafts period(late 1800s to early 1900s) polychrome iron bench! This gorgeous bench is heavily constructed and very sturdy. It features a unique design with a large, double faced coat of arms or crest on each end. The crest has chess pieces as its emblem, 2 rooks and 2 spades on each. The crest is gilded and painted in red and blue. The double sided faces allow the design to be seen from under the bench as well. Each end has two hammered iron legs which are black with red highlights. There are two bottom twisted iron supports that attach the bench together. The legs are in a drapery tassel pattern. The bench still retains the original textural fabric. It is a golden brown color and has a celtic pattern which compliments the entire feel of the bench. It is in good condition but does ... morehave a small hole in one area and some minor aging. It can be re-upholstered very easily. The bench is in wonderful, antique condition. The paint is still vivid and the gold gilded finish excellent. There are minor rusted spots to the iron in just a few areas, but only very slight. There has been one bolt which was replaced with a screw, but can be corrected to match(not very noticeable) The bench measures 16" tall. Antique Mission Oak Arts & Crafts Footstool Bench
For your consideration is this antique mission oak bench or footstool. It is made of quartersawn oak and retains it's original finish. It features nicely shaped and cut out end panels with keyed tenons. The top shows remnants of an oilcloth or leatherette seat cover. It is stamped with the number 408 underneath. It measures 18 1/2" long overall. 15" tall and 12" deep. Everything remains in very nice as found condition. There is a tight no harm crack to the one end panel.see photo) This has no structural effect as the stool remains solid and sturdy. This is in the form of a stool or small bench as shown. It is made of heavy thick wood. This measures 24 inches long. It is a little over 12 inches tall and is 14 inches wide. It has a great design. It is one of those designs that can go with a wide range of decor like arts and crafts, primitive, country, Shaker or early American. Many designs done at Berea were inspired by Wallace Nutting. Berea College of Kentucky has been known since the early 1900's for making well crafted and quality pieces of furniture. Their furniture was made from native Kentucky woods. This bench has had very little use over its lifespan and has obviously been stored w/ great care. Great design w/ 5 legs. Dramatic full length corbels under each arm, two curved-back seating spots, extra wide and low front, side, and rear lower leg stretchers, slatted seat support, faceted/ screwed corner blocks, and shaped arms w/ bull-nosed edges. The quilted wood top of bench which is on hinges and opens has a slight separation-it is not closed tightly and the hinges could be adjusted/tweaked to close tightly-I have included a pic of front and side where you can view the top and this feature. It was made in the Stickley era. It's unmarked. The wood is in very good condition, there are a few areas of wear. There are 1 or 2 areas where the joints seem slightly loose- definitely not too loose, like you can sit on the bench. But just, slightly wiggly. I'm not a carpenter or a wood guy, so I didn't want to try and tighten them. The leather cushion is clearly in disrepair. It would need to be restored in order to make it look nice. It has springs on the underside. Here are the measurements at the various parts: front edge of left arm to front edge of right arm is 51" wide- back edge of left arm to back edge of back ... morearm is 43 1/2" wide- seat back itself is 43 1/4" wide- height is 37 3/4" depth is 21 3/4" For the cushion. Offered is this stunning ornate wrought iron hall or window bench. All hammered heavy iron(not cast) with chased copper and gold accents on the seat apron. Weighs a ton! About 80 or 90 pounds. The design is very Gothic. Spanish mission revival or French style. Would work great with arts and crafts styles. Probably made in the 1920's or 30's and I'm not entirely certain what the origin is. Antique Tiger Oak Hall Bench/ Deacon's Bench From my Grandparent's home in Western Pennsylvania Exact age and style unknown. The home had lots of Victorian and other antiques when my Grandparents moved in. The simple clean lines of this piece lead me to think perhaps Arts& Crafts period? But the round form of the pillars makes me unsure. Any help in dating would be appreciated! The bench is made from both solid wood and wood veneers. I refinished this bench in the 1990s. However my work to repair chips in the veneers is poorly matched. More veneer chips have occurred since refinishing. Please see the many photos. I painted the interior of the bench(under the seat lid) to make it easier to see my children's hats and gloves. Which we stored there in the winter months. Here is a very unique hand crafted.Hand wrought, one- of- a- kind antique Arts and Crafts bench I purchased out of the Burroughs Estate here in Flint Michigan, the birthplace of GM. This was found inside the opulent former home of a Dr. Burroughs- the first owner of this estate that was built in the early 1900s, in the second story landing of the main staircase. I was told by the caretaker of the property( who was helping with the sale) that all the iron work in this Tudor home including this bench was made by the Durant- Dort Carriage Co. at the time the home was built. Very solid, no veneer, made with alot of expertise and attention to details as the orignal 100 year old Stickley and Limberts pieces were made and is perfect for an Arts and Crafts collector and style of house.
