An primitive American Footstool. Likely made in New England, 1880-1900. Primitive turned legs and framework in stained pine; Splint Cane foot rest in traditional herringbone twill pattern, probably ash or oak. The condition is exceptional. I'm assuming the cane work is not original, or the stool was not used frequently. There is general, age-appropriate wear on the legs and frame as shown with very nice patina. The truth is that I don't know the exact age of this piano stool. And we're only estimating it is 1800's. It has a swivel top that is upholstered. If that upholstery is original or not, well I can't say for sure. I can note that the hardware holding the stool top to the base looks shiny and new, so at one point it was disassembled. One screw is missing altogether. These are easily replaced. The stool is structurally sound, no loose parts. It has metal feet and is a unique piece. I can only imagine the hours spent at the lathe to create it. It stands about 16 inches tall with a 12 inch seat.

It looks like it was cracked and glued there and then some extra braces put on it to increase the strength. 19" tall fully down. 24" fully up before it starts to wobble too much, 6" of thread on the shaft. Signed Patd Nov 22 1881 Seat is 14" x 14" but actually about 14 1/2" square counting the fancy decorations. Seat covering looks original with some wear-no tears-and feels like the old material made of horsehair and camel hair that they used in the old lap robe/blankets. A few moth chew marks that don't go through. I think the wood is mahogany but is tough to tell with the old dark finish on it. Sound and solid with no chips,cracks or repairs. Leg spread is 14" toe to toe. Some wear to the embroidered decorative strip around the seat but not too bad. Up for bids is this Antique 19thC Pennsylvania Inlaid 6 Point Star Mahogany Cricket Bench Stool. This stool was made in Pennsylvania probably in the mid 19thC. The bench is made out of mahogany with a lighter wood inlay. In the center of the top of the bench is an inlaid 6 point star. The legs are splayed and have a very nice cut out. This stool measures 11 3/4" in length. 6 3/8" in depth, and 5 3/4" in height. This cricket bench is in excellent condition with only one inlayed strip missing that could be replaced pretty easily, it is pictured in the last picture. I believe that the finish is the original finish. This Antique 19thC Pennsylvania Inlaid 6 Point Star Mahogany Cricket Bench Stool will make a great addition to your collection. Vintage Needlepoint Footstool with brass and leather casters
This footstool is very interesting. And I don't know quite how to date it. The needlepoint with black background is in good condition, and could be any age. It probably is not original to the wooden frame. The woodframe has a serpentine shape with octagonal feet. The casters are layers of leather between brass.The feet look like they have been hollowed out by hand. According to my readings, this would date the casters to 1770-1780, however I think they have been re-applied to the feet because the screws look newish. This piece is very solid and heavy.

Original Lyons Healy Piano Stool Chicago 1800's Glass Ball Metal Claw Victorian
Up for sale is an original Lyons& Healy Piano Stool from the 1800's. Has 4 glass ball metal claw feet. Lyons& Healy Chicago is on a metal piece underneath the seat. The seat has 3 two inch cracks around edges. Which is to be expected for a piece of this age. Can be restored or kept the way it is. Measures 18 1/2" tall, 14 1/2" diameter seat. Lyons& Healy originally made piano music in 1864. But then there were 4 fires, on of them the"Great Chicago Fire in 1871" which destroyed their records. They started making pianos and organs in 1876 so I am assuming that this could have been made then, since it does look like it is from the 1800's They then turned mainly to musical instruments, particularly harps. Carved to death with an outstanding crest of two dragons and a shield. The 3 panels depict Franz von Sickengen and Ulrich Von Hutten and are carved into bottoms of panels. 19th Century Antique Primitive Painted Wooden Milking Stool~Perfect Patina,Cond!
1860-1890's Primitive Wooden Milking stool measures 13 1/4" ht with a 8 3/8" dia Seat. If you check out my closeup pics you can see that years of wear have concaved the center of the thick wooden seat from the milker's bottom side! However this stool has stood the test of time and is still solid. Sturdy with no damage, and a great looking worn patina! The wood looks like oak or hickory and the bottom spindles appear to be constructed with a mortise peg in the middle.

Revealing earlier colors, and some places even revealing the Walnut wood. MORTISED construction. Arms, seat, etc. SEAT is 2-Board. With the one board approx 75% of the seats width. The BACK SLATS are THICK, solid wood, CURVED to accomodate backs, and mortised into the back board section of the seat. BOTTOM is BRACED by a long. LENGTHWISE STRETCHER, which in turn has 4 Perpendicular braces. WOOD is THICK. And entire bench is SOLID, THICK, and not at all a flimsy bench! SIZE: SEAT is 6" long. 19" deep. This stool is very sweet. It stands just 6 inches high and has a seat measuring 8 inches by 6.5 inches. The seat has a very pronounced grain. It has been cleaned and waxed. It would make an ideal coffee cup stand beside a chair or a stand for a plant or a toy. It is wonderful to touch. It has no woodworm or rot. It stands firm with no rock or wobble. The legs have very attractive very old bun feet. It is all original. It has a knot depression on the seat surface and faint trace of a tiny scorch mark as if someone put a match down on the surface. I think that these things add to its character and interest. It is very old and would make a super present for anyone who likes wood. Can post to international destinations at cost.
