An ancient Egyptian faience shabti. Dating to Egypt's Late Period, approximately 664- 323 BC. Of good style. The figure is shown wearing the tripartite ... morewig, beard of Osiris, holding the hoe and pick, seed basket and back pillar behind, with a frontal column of hieroglyphics. The shabti(ancient Egyptian"shawabti" Was a funerary figure, placed in the tombs of wealthy individuals that, on account of its human appearance and hieroglyphic text identifying it, would fool the gods into thinking that the shabti was the deceased! This was important as all Ancient Egyptians might be required to perform menial manual labour in the afterlife, if summoned. So it became common practice among the highly religious and superstitious elite to place small figures(sometimes as many as 300) in their burial chambers, that could be substituted for themselves if need be. Thus manual work could be avoided, the shabtis"coming to life" if called and performing the work themselves. This belief may appear strange to our modern ideas of religion and the world but in Ancient Egypt art and religion were inextricably linked. To the extent that figures such as the present example could be imbued with life, given the right circumstances. It was deemed that a"spell" should be written on the shabti so that it should awaken as planned- this is the so-called shabti spell from chapter six of the Book of the Dead and reads as follows: O shawabti. If[name of deceased] is called upon, If he is appointed to do any work which is done on the necropolis. Even as the man is bounden. Namely to cultivate the fields, To flood the river-banks or to carry the sand of the East to the West, And back again, then'Here am I! you shall say" A fascinating piece of ancient Egyptian faience sculpture. Height: 4 1/4 inches. Condition: Excellent. Unrestored. Provenance: Ex. Museum Gallery. Superb Ancient Egyptian Faience Ushabti, Late Period 664-525 BC, Hieroglyphs
Superb Ancient Egyptian Ushabti Late Period ca.664-525 BC with Hieroglyphs_ 100% Genuine This remarkable ushabti measures 115cm in height and is made of faience that is faded to a very light blue. It(being a male) is wearing the tripartite wig. The longer Osirian type beard, it also has crossed arms holding the hoe and the flail. The individual fingers can still be seen on the hands as well as the plaiting on the false beard. The seed basket hangs over his left shoulder and he has the back pillar(for better stability) on his back that is typical of Late Period ushabtis as well as the inscription in T form across the front under the folded arms. Ancient Egyptian New Kingdom Wooden Ushabti / Shabti Figure - 1250 BC
A rare ancient Egyptian hand carved wooden ushabti dating to the New Kingdom. Around 1250 BC. With schematic features and traces of painted decoration, this is a large, genuine example. Of a pleasing. Slender appearance, the figure is depicted in mummiform, with the arms crossed over the chest. The tripartite wig painted in dark green, remnants of pigment also remain on the upper chest, possibly depicting a large wesekh collar which would have covered the upper part of the body. Worn by the passing of time. This piece has lost its fine detail and gained a striking visual sense of flowing, indistinct form that one associates with the linen wrapped mummies themselves. Hand carved wooden shabtis were of course far more costly and labour intensive than the standard mass produced pottery forms from this period. As such we can be sure this fascinating ... moreartefact was commissioned by an individual of substantial means. The shabti was a funerary figure. Placed in the tombs of wealthy individuals that, on account of its human appearance and hieroglyphic text identifying it, would fool the gods into thinking that the shabti was the deceased. This was important as all ancient Egyptians might be required to perform menial manual labour in the afterlife if summoned. Egyptian Ushabti figure artifact large no reserve must see!!
Here is a very nice item for your bidding pleasure. It is an Egyptian Ushabti figure Artifact from an estate of a man that was a world traveler. I assume he acquired this when traveling. I don't know a thing about this item except that it looks very old. It measures 7" tall. Please look closely at my pictures to see condition as I don't know. Because of the age, what this condition would be considered. It has a crack across the center and on the bottom, there is a an area that is missing and it looks like there might have been an attempt at a repair, I'm not sure. At any rate the detail in the carving is very intricate and shows much detail. There is no reserve and the shipping is 12.50 anywhere in the lower 48 states. thanks for looking and have a great day.

Well Carved Stone Egyptian Ushabti Figurine 9 inches 23 cm high Modern Copy
Well Carved Stone Egyptian Ushabti Figurine 9 inches 23 cm high Modern Copy This is an Egptian Ushabti- It is made of brownish sedimentary stone of some type. And obviously it is hand carved. I'd date this piece to the second half of the twentieth century, it is fairly modern tourist stuff rather than an attempt at a fake I should think, as there is no sign of artificial ageing- but it is quite well carved, with good detail. Size: 23 cm high( 9 inches) Weight: 729 grammes Condition: fair- there is some recent damage to the chin. A couple of nicks on the front of the headdress and a scratch on the front of the thighs.see photos. Payment must be made within 7 days of winning bid unless other arrangements have been made. If there is a problem with payment. Please contact me. I am quite reasonable and willing to help sort out any problems, ... morebut If I receive no contact after 7 days have passed, a non-payment case will be opened and I will offer the item to the next highest bidder. Payments from overseas must be made with paypal unless other arrangements are agreed with me prior to bidding. U.K payments can be made via paypal. Personal cheque or postal order. Cash on collection is also possible by arrangement. Postage Costs: I keep my postage costs to a reasonable level- but they do have to reflect the costs of lightweight packaging materials and the time spent packing the item properly so that it will arrive with you in one piece. I usually add about one pound on top of what Royal Mail or Courier charge as the shipping cost to cover the materials used- I recycle what I can but still spend a lot on bubblewrap. Tape, boxes etc. It is not my aim to make a profit out of shipping costs, but I do spend many hours packing items and my time is valuable too. NOTE THAT EBAY NOW CHARGE AN ADDITIONAL FEE TO SELLERS OF 10% OF ALL POSTAGE COSTS- AND IF YOU PAY BY PAYPAL THEN PAYPAL CHARGE THE SELLER ANOTHER 5% These charges are Included in the amount I ask for shipping. Warhammer Fantasy Tomb King Ushabti with Great Weapons
Warhammer Fantasy Tomb King Ushabti with Great Weapons. If you ever have a problem with anything you buy from me. For any reason, please contact me immediately so I can work to fix it. I don't want anyone to be dis-satisfied with something they get from me. Leaving negative feedback hurts us all, driving up the cost of listings, which is going to affect the prices I put on items. Give me a chance to fix your problem, whatever it is. I sell a lot of used Models. Used models may have modeling defects like a mold line left on. Or a bit of extra glue. They may also have some cool conversions, be partially painted, based, or come ready to put on the table. I try to give good information, but the picture is always going to be the best source of information for you. I also may have bits and pieces from some of the used armies I sell. If you ... moreget some extra pieces in your shipment, don't worry about it. It means I was just cleaning up some bitz and throwing something extra in your shipment that I thought you might be able to use. Shipping: Shipping cost listed in auction is for postage only. We don't charge a handling fee. Combined shipping available by combined weight of items(usually the cost to ship one or slightly more) Items ship on most week days, and we try to get them out as fast as possible. We do most shipments by priority mail. The cost for parcel post vs. priority is nearly the same for items under 1 pound, so we use priority to get your models to you quicker. Very small packages, and single models, we ship by first class mail, in padded envelope, to keep costs down. We use a lot of peanuts and foam bubbles in packing your models, to keep down the chance of breakage in shipment. International Shipping- I am not Shipping to countries outside the US. Sorry. Ancient Egyptian Terracotta Ushabti, Easily Readable Hieroglyphs, 900 BC
Ancient Egyptian Molded Pottery(Clay) Ushabti Third Intermediate Period. 900 BC_ 100% Genuine This unusual ushabti is of a style that appeared during the early Third Intermediate Period. It is of molded Nile river clay(instead of faience. Etc. As the need for more of these servant figures became necessary, temple and palace workshops began to make them from clay in open face molds. Details and hieroglyphs for these ushabtis were added with black ink. Measuring 10 centimeters in height. The one I have for sale here wears the tripartite wig and false beard. It's arms are crossed with each hand holding a hoe. The seed basket is painted on the back left shoulder and the figure wears the seshed headband. The beard and eyes are highlighted in black ink. The hieroglyphic text in black ink is an abbrieviated form of the shabti spell. Normally ... morethe text would read"May Osiris illuminate(or glorify) person's name. Born of person's mother, true of voice. The owner's name and mother(underlined words) are not written here since this ushabti was meant to act as a generic ushabti. In other words. It means may Osiris glorify in the Hereafter the person who owns the tomb in which this ushabti was placed. So, the text here reads"May Osiris illuminate(or glorify) This ushabti comes with a Certificate of Authenticity signed by me. This is a fixed price auction with the price being only $175. There is free delivery in the US. It is $15(depending on buyer's insurance requirements) elsewhere in the world. I do NOT ship to Italy. The rest of Europe no problem. ABOUT ME. YOUR SELLER Hello. A VERY UNUSUAL BRIGHT-BLUE USHABTI WITH HIEROGLYPHS
A VERY UNUSUAL BRIGHT-BLUE USHABTI WITH HIEROGLYPHS This highly unusual"named" Ushabti is of the type found in ancient Egyptian burials during the Third Intermediate Period(c. 1069- 702 BC) The figure is seen wearing a well defined wig with a“seshed” headband and holds a molded and painted hoe or flail in each hand. The front of the legs feature a single enclosed column of painted hieroglyphs. While on the back there is a representation of a long seed bag. In the traditional mummiform pose, the piece has a spectacular bright-blue glaze with the detailing rendered in black. DIMENSIONS: Height: 3.55 inches(90 mm) Height with stand: 5.25 inches(133.mm) An intact. Affordable and very rare work of art. Highly collectible and named for'HO-KHEB-YT' BACKGROUND: Ushabtis also known as Shabtis or Shawabties are probably the most collectible ... moreof all artifacts to come from ancient Egypt. These magical statues were placed in tombs. And held the role of being servants or substitutes for the deceased. They were designed to accompany him or her into paradise, and comply with requests from the gods. It was common for as many as 365 Ushabtis and 36 Overseers to be placed in the tomb, thereby providing one to serve each day of the year. Royal Ushabtis ceased after the last pharaoh of the 30th Dynasty, Nectanebo II(c. 343 BC) but Ushabtis for private use continued in use until the end of the Ptolemaic Period. PROVENANCE: A High Quality Counterfeit from the workshop of retired British art forger John Andrews. Andrews’ work has been featured in numerous Television Broadcasts and the International Press. And has been shown in major exhibitions at London’s Victoria& Albert Museum and Bolton Museum, where the pieces were described as“Some of the best faked and forged artworks in our history” Unsurprisingly. His work is now highly collectable with examples being known to exchange hands for thousands of pounds. Many“Study Pieces” can be found in the collections of The Metropolitan Museum of Art. The artifact has a superb pale blue-green color. A long striated wig, a plaited beard and is inscribed with the Saite version of chapter six of the Book of the Dead in nine horizontal registers of hieroglyphs. It was believed that the recitation of this text would bring such figures to life to carry out the agricultural duties demanded of its dead master in the afterlife. In readiness, the piece carries a pick, an adze and behind its left shoulder, a seed basket. A brilliant opportunity to own a valuable counterfeit by the retired and highly acclaimed British art forger John Andrews. Auctioned at a fraction of the cost of the real thing! And held the role of being servants or substitutes for the deceased. They were designed to accompany him or her into paradise, and comply with requests from the gods. It was common for as many as 365 Ushabtis and 36 Overseers to be placed in the tomb, thereby providing one to serve each day of the year. In the tomb of Seti I, over eight hundred Ushabti figures were found scattered around the carcass of a slaughtered bull. PROVENANCE: A High Quality Counterfeit from the workshop of retired British art forger John Andrews. Andrews’ work has been featured in numerous Television Broadcasts and the International Press. Large Wooden Ushabti (Shabti), New Kingdom, Ancient Egypt 1570 - 1075 BC
Nice Egyptian New Kingdom wooden Ushabti. C. 1570- 1075 BC, mummiform, wearing tripartite wig, arms folded across chest, hands holding painted implements, bag on back. The hair and cosmetic details are black including a column of glyphs down the front which is bordered by black lines. The entire surface is covered in a gold/ochre gesso. Shabtis were placed in tombs to do the biddings of the deceased in the afterlife. Wooden shabtis are not nearly as common as the molded faience styles. Much of the original gesso remains though various chipping occurs. Back shows an age crack of the wood and crack near foot. Neither affecting integrity of the piece with some surface drying of the wood on the back of the head not disturbing structure. This large example is slightly over 7” tall without the stand(included) I have been a collector of historical ... moreitems for about 30 years and since I am now retired I have decided to sell off most of my collection over time. Framed Ancient Egyptian Artifacts Faience Ushabti w 3 Necklaces & Scarab Pendant
Framed Ancient Egyptian Artifacts Faience Ushabti With 3 Necklaces& Scarab Pendant. DESCRIPTION: Rare Framed(no glass) Ancient Egyptian Artifacts Faience Ushabti w/ 3 Necklaces& Scarab Pendant: A stunning collection of authentic and rare Ancient Egyptian Artifacts. Attractively framed for display. The artifacts were acquired from two very reliable Egyptian antiquity suppliers; one based in New Jersey and the other in the United Kingdom. The center piece is from the supplier in the UK, and is a 3 ½ inch(9 cm) tall“Shabti” or“Ushabti” totem statue in turquoise glazed faience. It is thought that the Ushabti represented a servant who would aid the deceased in the after-life. This Ushabti most likely dates from the Late Period(ca. 7th to 3rd C. BC) It has a true turquoise color and the remains of an Eye-of-Horus(Wedjat” symbol of ... moredivine protection on the chest and stomach. Faience is very delicate and this piece shows some wear at the left shoulder. Otherwise, the piece is in excellent condition. Most faience Ushabti show breaks, cracks, eroded glaze, or other defects. This is not unusual for authentic ancient pieces. Three ancient Egyptian faience bead necklaces, from the supplier in New Jersey, surround the Ushabti and date from the 1st millennium BC to the time of the Christian era. The center necklace has a scarab-shaped pendant with hieroglyphs, but what also appears to be a Christian cross on the reverse side. Consequently, this appears to be a very early, and rare, Christian artifact. The necklaces are on average 21 inches(apx. 53 cm) long. The artifacts have been professionally mounted to a black velvet background using clear“fishing line” The artifacts are ancient. The frame is modern, but in the antique style. The frame measures 11 x 13 inches(28 x 33 cm) on the outside. This collectible collection will be sent insured and is included in the shipping charge. Gift card included. Shipping discounts on multiple purchases. I appreciate prompt payment. And will always work with you if you email
