$8.60 Shipping Location: Crown Point, United States This Pre-Columbian pottery figure of a man playing a musical instrument is about 6-3/4" tall. There is no apparent damage. There is some faint red paint ... morearound the head. I don't know exactly where it is from. I bought it with a small group of artifacts which were described as being "Native or South American". It was listed before, but the buyer returned it. He said it is modern. I think it looks old, but since I don't collect pre-Columbian artifacts, it may be modern. I am relisting it as modern with a lower asking price.

Nayarit Culture. 250 BC to 200 AD. SIZE: Height- 8.25" 12 cm) Width- 4.5" 11.5 cm) Depth- 3.5" 9 cm) An anthropomorphic male sitting figure. Leaning forward with his left hand holding an object in, or up to his mouth. His right hand is on his right knee. The figure has foreshortened legs, long curving arms of unequal length, a flattened face with a proportionate nose and coffee bean eyes. He is wearing multiple ear spools. This figure's head. Body, and legs are hollow and there is a large round opening at the top of his head, making the piece into a vessel as well as a figure. The figure's hair is cut into bangs across the forehead and the details of the hair were inscribed into the clay before firing. The neckline also has dimension and is raised up from the body. Depicting the figure to be wearing clothing. The surface of the figure is of the red burnished- polished clay and there are remnants of white and possibly black slip pigments painted on the face. There may have been yellowish designs on the chest. As well, but if so they hardly visible now. The surface shows dark dimensional manganese deposits in many areas. And some light encrustations of dirt and other substances in the crevices. This piece is between 1.800 and 2,250 years old. It was collected during the 1940's and was obtained from an old San Francisco collection. Condition: This piece is in good excavated condition with no losses. The following is noted: A tight. Stable, very thin hairline extending from the front of the figure's throat, over his right shoulder, to the back of his neck. It appears that there is a very old repair where the upper left part of the head has been glued back after a separation. A line showing this runs under his left eye, up the forehead and hair and down the back of his head and over the left ear(please see photos

Antique Pre Columbian Pottery Bowl/Cup
This is a really fascinating piece that I purchased from an estate sale of a collector. The property in the estate dated from the Victorian era. So I am assuming this was collected during that period. The bowl or cup measures 3 1/8" high x 5" diameter at the top. It looks to be made of clay. There are stains on it and the inside of the piece has some pitting(for lack of a better term) There are some rough spots along the base. There are lines of white on the piece, looking like they are from when this was buried? The big white line on the inside is not a crack that goes through to the other side. There may be a fine crack on the rim, but it is a little hard to tell. I also purchased other artifacts from this estate. Some are the items look to have a numbering on the bottom, so I assume they were in some sort of catalogued collection. ... moreIf you are interested in them, let me know and I can list them as well. Please let me know if you have any questions. From a non-smoking home. Thank you.

Pre Columbian or Very Old Pottery Vessel with Iguanas
Well. I cannot confirm the age of this piece I can only share my observations based on research. This is a primitive vessel with opened mouthed Iguanas as handles- they are not a pour spout. When I rubbed the noses of the Iguanas I was left with a black carbon like substance. The inside, visible only by camera flash to me, is crude and rough and contains what look like mineral deposits of blue and green. The picture of my fingers shows what was recovered from wiping the inside of the opening as far as I could reach. The darker pictures are more representative of actual color. Photos also reveal some"bluing" on the outside. Filled with water there are no leaks but it is left with an earthy/sweet odor. It is approx. 9"h 8.5"overall width(Iguanas head to head) It is heavy, perhaps 5lbs. Felt disks aid in leveling. If someone ... morecares to comment or educate me further I would love to hear from you. I am in no way intentionally misleading the origin of this piece. I immediately suspected pre-Columbian or other ancient culture. Like it? Love it? Shoot me an offer!

Pre Columbian MAYAN CHIAPAS Pottery Bowl Late CLASSIC PERIOD 1000 AD POLYCHROME
Stunning Pre Columbian Mayan Chiapas Pottery Bowl Polychrome Vessel from the Late Classic Period 1000 A.D. Animalistic Forms Around Outside. Beautiful Coloring One of the pre Columbian pieces purchased from The Foliophiles Collection when they were in Santa Fe. New Mexico(prior to that they had been in D.C. for decades) Charles here- and I purchased it for my personal collection in 2000. It is the most expensive piece I purchased. One of the last few I have left and the last one I am willing to part with(they WILL bury me with the Colima bowl I purchased at the same time that is decorated with stars around the rim) Not that parting with this bowl is easy, but we've just purchased some rather large art collections and so we have to let something go. The bowl measures approximately 6 3/4" across at the top and 2 1/4" high. I was ... moretold by the gallery owner that it was acquired from another dealer in the late 1960's. I purchased it for $590 in 2000. It's beautiful and I will miss this one. SHIPPING INCLUDES INSURANCE! Before You Bid PLEASE FEEL FREE TO ASK US ANY QUESTIONS BEFORE YOU BID. Questions? Call us: 1-877-328-9236. Pre-Columbian Anasazi Redware Pottery Pot w/Restoration. Manufacturer: Anasazi Model: N/A Condition: Used Price: The photos show the exact item(s) the buyer will receive. Manufacturer: Anasazi Condition: Used. A small portion of the top lip of the pot was restored by the previous owner(see photos) But it is over 75 percent intact. Even with the pieces that have been lost in antiquity, it still has a nice, well-formed"feel" when held in both hands. The overall slip is orange-red with some black- which would have been caused by oxidation during the firing process. We believe it to be either Early Pueblo Lino Fugitive Red(550 A.D. 800 A.D. Or Abajo Red-on-Orange(700 A.D. 900 A.D. based on the form and slip. The small square of Zapotec Indian tapestry shown in the photos is included for display purposes ... moreonly, and is not related to this Anasazi piece. Serious inquiries only please. Doug Deal Factoid: The word Anasází is Navajo for"Ancient Ones" It is not actually the name of a tribe. Cords/cables, or additional items are included if not listed or shown. Included: Early Anasazi Redware Pot, Wool Zapotec Indian tapestry 5"x5" Specifications: This is a genuine example of Pre-Columbian Anasazi pottery.
