The ring contain an authentic, ancient roman coin made of Billon and depicts the Emperor Antoninus Pius(138-161 AD) It is about 19 mm in diameter and minted in Rome. He was the successor of Emperor Hadrian. The obverse shows Antoninus Pius laureate and draped facing right. The reverse which can be seen somewhat from the back side and shows the image of a woman, Annona standing left holding ears of corn facing right. The combined weight of the sterling silver ring and bronze and silver coin is about 12 grams. Billon is silver mixed with bronze used for making coins and dates from ancient Greece and continued through the Middle Ages. This coin is about 40% silver. This is a vintage Men's 14k yellow gold ring with a Carnelian stone that has an etching of a Roman warrior. Sides also have Roman etchings. My jeweler tested this and it tested as 14k gold and the stone is Carnelian. Size 8 ring with a weight of 8.1 grams. Ring is vintage and at least 60 years old. But in very good preowned condition. Some normal wear marks. Stone is in excellent condition and the jeweler saw no damage to it. Condition of the gold mounting is very good with light wear. Intaglio carving has problems with a small piece missing at one top corner and a larger one at the other. But the more interesting hallmark is on the outside of the band at the palm. I can't make it out, but it almost looks like a mountain and under the mountain, there are characters but I can only make out the last two that look like"85" or"B5" or"R5" It is sterling with a vermeil gold over it that has started to wear off a bit.
