HUDSON BAY 1800's SEAL RING
Up for auction is this incredibly rare Hudson Bay Crest seal ring. It is massive and has the design of the 1850's Hudson Bay Made beaver token on its face. I took it to a few jewellers and they said the construction and early Sterling hallmark indicates it was made in North America sometime between 1855-1890. I have done lots of research and contacted a few museums. Nobody has ever seen anything like it. I is probably one of a kind. It is gold dipped(not plated) Sterling silver. Seals where often made of silver instead of gold. The quality. Weight and size are hard to capture in pictures. It is designed and made to be used as a seal, that is why the carving is so deep. It still ahs traces of wax in it. The last picture is of a made beaver token. This was clearly made for someone of great importance to the Company.
