Coin from the family of Constantine I. The Great Emperor of the Roman world(306-337) This is a beautiful. Authentic ancient coin ring in a size 7 1/4. The ring contain an authentic, ancient roman coin made of Billon and depicts the Emperor Antoninus Pius(138-161 AD) It is about 19 mm in diameter and minted in Rome. He was the successor of Emperor Hadrian. The obverse shows Antoninus Pius laureate and draped facing right. The reverse which can be seen somewhat from the back side and shows the image of a woman, Annona standing left holding ears of corn facing right. The combined weight of the sterling silver ring and bronze and silver coin is about 12 grams. Billon is silver mixed with bronze used for making coins and dates from ancient Greece and continued through the Middle Ages. This coin is about 40% silver. These billon coins had a declining ... moresilver content and increasing bronze content as centuries went on. The ring band is a unique style and is gold plated. From my collection is this Roman lady sculptress figural lamp done in green with a gold wash. Selling as shown in first 4 pictures. Needs rewiring and electrical components to use as a lamp. Looks good as a figurine. The vintage lamp harp and finial included. I have shown some photos before the electrical component was removed to give an idea of how it would look. The cord is very tight in the lamp and would be difficult to remove. Needs felt on bottom. Some small paint chips on back of base. Please use photos for the best description. Rich patina distinguishes this older v intage italian florentine tole hinged box with a gold gilded finish on embossed design. Accented with red. The lid has a print of roman women with joined hands in the center. Embossed on all surfaces, even the bottom. It is marked Made in Italy with an embossed stamp on the bottom. Also, this must have been a Christmas gift, since on the bottom upper left corner, it is scratched Xmas 1970. This box measures 5 3/4" long x 4" wide x 2" tall. It is used but in very good condition with some minor wear. Bottom shows the most scuffing, as well as a little gilding loss on the top. A gorgeous piece. Bid today! The process of bringing a bronze sculpture to life using the lost-wax method is something you'll appreciate after taking this tour- Enjoy. Here Artist original clay sculpture is ... morenearly ready for the foundry. Note the artist is still adding the finishing touches. Most sculptors prefer to work with clay or wax; some however. Do use wood and other mediums. Here the finished original clay is now complete. The sculptor will take it to the foundry now, get a bid then begin the first stages of the lost wax process. The first step can be shocking for some as they begin to decide how this original will be cut up. In order to prepare the original clay sculpture for molding. It will be dissected by cutting the clay with wire and by cutting the armature with a saw. The armature is what helped support the clay in place while the artist was creating it. Note the registration marks which later in the process will serve to realign the parts. Shown here are the sections of the original clay sculpture after having been dissected. Now the various parts of the original are carefully mounted on clay plugs before the rubber mold material is applied. The clay plug later serves as a pour spout for the mold.
