It has no damages of any sort- and it is now quite collectable. Happy to post internationally- so please check for postage quote as price here is for UK posting. This one is in fine condition with a rich rust coloured ceramic body- with textured decoration all over slightly stippled with forms a pattern of clouds. Appearing from the clouds- and just visible to you as an embossed design featuring a three-toed dragon. You can see his head with slight additions of black picking out his form. And enveloped in the clouds you can just see his body twisting around the body of the pot with feet at the opposite ... moreside. The thing that I like most about this little pot is the fact that the handle is made up of the dragon's scaly tail- finely modelled as you can see in my photographs. It has no maker's marks on the pot- but on stylistic evidence it must date from the Meiji period. These pieces of tokoname pieces are now getting hard to find and are pretty collectable pieces of Japanese pottery- dont think that there are any pieces of this listed on the UK ebay this week- and only a few internationally! This is a vintage miniature Chinese terracotta teapot which stands 3 1/4 inches high. Measures 5 3/4 inches from spout to handle and dates to around the early part of the 20th century. The teapot has an unusual finial in the shape of a swan and there are seal marks to the base together with two on the inside of the lid also. The condition is very good- there are no chips, cracks, damage or repairs to be found and there are no scratches to the terracotta finish. This vintage miniature Chinese terracotta teapot would make an ideal gift or a great addition to any collection.

Italian Deruta Art Nouveau Terracotta Double Gourd Form Vase This is a rare piece of majolica(tin glazed pottery) hand made in the Deruta region of Italy when they were experimenting in the late 19 th century with marketable designs. This is an Art Nouveau style produced in that period. It is made of terracotta and in the rarely found double gourd form. This style is a combination of cobalt blue. Antimony yellow, iron red, cooper green, carbon black and earth brown in various decorative bands. The white tin enamel is used for highlights and for the background of the white tin glaze. The top band on the body of the top gourd consists of opening flowers. The neck between the gourd bodies is in a checkered design. The shoulder of the bottom gourd body has a rolling curve design against a blue background. The body of the bottom gourd is in a ... morerectangular line design. The band just above the foot is unusual consisting of rough circular bands glazed blue. The base is white glazed and hand marked“ITALY 273” Deruta pieces in the Art Nouveau style are difficult to find and this is a spectacular example. Made after 1892 and before 1905. The vase is in excellent condition for its age and fragility since it is made of soft past terracotta. There is some glaze popping here and there but with these pieces they are considered a sign of authenticity. There are no cracks or hairlines. The foot has worn smooth from movement. This is a simply awesome example of the Deruta style decoration with all the classic elements. Very notable for its double gourd form. They do not get much better than this. The animal is depicted seated on its haunches, with its head facing forwards and ears pinned downwards, depicting a clear sense of attentiveness. The piece was produced with a bivalve mold, yet it has all the expressiveness of a sensitive hand model, a testament to the talent of the ancient artist. A symbol of fidelity. The dog is one of the twelve symbolic animals of the Daoist system of chronological designation. Round-bellied orange clay body tapers in sharply at the base to rest on a low foot with a squat, conical neck with flat flaring rim. Typical for this shape of vessel, the broad strap handles rise vertically from the shoulders to well above the rim, then continue to the rim at a 45 degree angle. Roundel embellishments at attachment points and peak of handles. We collected these unusual extremely decorative pots for many years. They are not made anymore. Discovered on the premises(long before the Timor war that split the island into 2 took place) these older hand crafted pieces are impossible to find today as whatever still existed at the time the fighting started was broken during the violent conflicts. Completely handcrafted(centuries old process) and adorned with motifs combined with geometrical ... moredesigns reminiscent of old American Indian Pottery usually motifs are of men or animals. Gecko for example& hand-painted with local enhancing natural color pigments. It is a unique collector item. A true work of primitive art and extremely decorative. It came from the Vermasse region of Timor and was used by the natives of Manatuto to boil water on an outside fire in order to make it ready for human consumption( water borne diseases are a major problem in East Timor. The traditional solution is still to boil the water to make it safe) This pot. Which was made with a fine red clay mix combined with river sand& rice husk ash sieved thru a fly screen and formed by hand, still bears some charcoal black marks on the outside from the burns of bonfires made from cow manure, burns which add to its charm and authenticity. Pair Antique Painted Tole Lily Flowers Set Into Decorated Terracotta Pots
This pair of tole flowers were set using plaster into two 4 1/2" diameter terracotta pots and stand 19 1/2" tall. The pot alone is 4" high. The flowers come out of the plaster and can be rotated in any direction. The metal flowers are in an original old painted finish. We added the black decoration to the pots some years ago. We believe them to be mid 19th century and French.
