Antique Footstool/ Ottoman Wool Tapestry Opens for Storage This is an amazing estate find! It is an antique tapestry covered foot stool or petite ottoman. It has a wonderful hourglass shape. It opens for storage and is lined with it's original pale pink fabric. There are four casters on the bottom. Handwritten on the bottom is the word"Shipway" This wonderful piece measures 13" in height. It measures 12" x 12" at the top and the bottom. And 9 1/2" in the center. Structurally this piece is in very good condition. The lid wobbles a little bit when it's opened. The tapestry is worn on some areas and is also seperated a little bit from the piece in one spot. It is in remarkable condition considering its age. A small amount of the wood shaving filler has fallen out. A piece of the trim has fallen off. But ... moreis present. Antique Turkish Ottoman Coffee Mill Dated, Stamped 1909, Star of David
These used to be common in the Balkans. Part of the old Ottoman empire, but now even the more common ones are disappearing, no doubt to Western Europe. But this piece I acquired 2-3 years ago and had used as display here, not offering it at auction. It is historic. Dated 18 Jan 1909, and bears the crescent moon stamp of the Ottomans at the top and a crudely stamped crossed linden leaves(I think) with an inscription in Greek letters(possibly Cyrillic) to Apostle Iranou(my best guess) in Sofia. It also bears a Star of David. Bulgaria was/is one of the most religiously tolerant countries in the world. Very heavy. 12" long, it had been a working mill from the looks of it, and the bottom had been resoldered, so don't try to use again. AUTHENTIC ANTIQUE 16TH - 17TH CENTURY OTTOMAN CHAINMAIL
Authentic antique 16th- 17th century Ottoman chainmail armour with interlocking riveted iron rings. Each ring was individually hand forged and hand riveted. Chainmail has 3/4 sleeves with the front and back body falling below the waist line with a central opening at the front along with a slit in the back for riding horse back. Chainmail has minor damage and missing a few links all due from age& usage. Riveted chainmail is characteristic for early Ottoman armour. Riveted chainmail was very expensive to make and was considered a luxury for higher rank- upper class warriors. 16th- 17th century riveted chainmail was not as common as 18th century chainmail and most can only be seen in museums. I have up for sale a wonderful circa late 1800s Victorian Era Fancy Cast Iron Base Footstool. The castings are ornate and the paint appears to be the old original. The stool measures approx 14" square on the base. Approx 12" square on the top. The upholstery is older, I do not think it is the original but its older. It should be reupholstered and repadded. It has a scalloped top. And measures approx 14" x 14" x 7-1/4" tall and weighs about 9 lbs 10 ounces as you see it. The 14" is the base measurement, the top upholstered part is approx 12" across. The fancy cast base is quite beautiful. The paint appears to be original. Its with out question very old. The cast iron is in excellent shape, I notice one small crack, that has a repair on the back. This is a subtle crack that is only noticed when viewing with ... morescrutiny. My last few pics show the crack. C.1800-50 This rare style of bowl originates from the Middle East. In the modern day Iranian city of Nishapur. Dating to the first half of the 19 th century. It bears a finely glazed pattern of a bird to the central well with Koranic script to the slope in black against a white coloured ground. There is also a blue tinge to the glaze, and the glazed underside is covered in blue spots. It is made in imitation of the styles of 8 th-12 th century Nishapur pottery. Which at the time was exported all over the Middle East. Measuring a very decent 24.5cms(9.5” wide. It is in reasonable condition with the glaze imperfections typical of this sort of ware, plus ... moreall-over crazing; there are glaze losses due to age(the black Koranic script and black rim on one side of the bowl has worn away and been painted in in black) and some damage around the figure of the bird– there are, however, no cracks or other repairs to the piece, and it is an excellent decorative item.
