Embroidered with silk and gilt thread, without damage, but with some staining: 2 big and several small stains(see picture 4) 30" x 17" 77 cm x 43 cm- one tall. Square, probably a runner, table center or cushion cover: it is made of green satin, applied with 4 square assembled silver metallic embroideries on thin linen or coton base. The back is lined in green. All the edges are gold fringed.The embroideries are in good condition but: this has not beed washed. Antique Turkey Ottoman Empire Byzantine Turkish Decanter with Portraits
Measures approx. 9-1/4" high to top of lip and 16-1/2" to top of stopper. Hand-blown from thick heavy milk glass with a broken pontil scar on underside of base and another pontil scar on lower end of stopper. The portraits appear to be transfers. The remainder of the decoration is entirely hand-painted. This piece was probably made in England between 1840-1880 for the Turkish market. But, the most amazing feature of this piece is that it is in PERFECT original condition with NO cracks, chips or other damage or problems. It is quite heavy, so figure on 5-6 pounds shipping weight, including packing. I will combine shipping whenever possible, and normally will ship worldwide within one day of receiving payment.
