NEANDERTHAL MAN, Plastic Model, Pyro Plastics Corp, 1971, Very rare, Built
Here is the VERY RARE Plastic Model Kit(Built) from Pyro Plastics Corp. NEANDERTHAL MAN' dated 1971. The base is about 8" long and he sits 6" tall. This was recently unpacked from the attic as I was the kid that saved everything. For the first 3 photos I have posed him in front of a landscape photo on computer monitor to give a realistic look and grab your attention. The fourth photo shows what I unpacked which was a typically mediocre building job with hardly any painted detail by me at about 12 years old. Next six photos show the model standing alone. And the last is a photo from the internet showing the kit box for reference only. NO BOX IS INCLUDED WITH THIS AUCTION ITEM. I've really enjoyed spending a few days properly finishing what I started so many years ago and do hate to part with this. I have had to recreate a ... morefew details that were missing to finish. For example his rear loin cloth I fashioned from brown paper bag which closely matches the shade of the tan original and has been weathered then coated with matte finish. The two stones he is now holding are actual stone pebbles. This would have originally had a rabbit tied to a small standing pole as seen on box cover. I just fastened a pebble over hole. Remove the pebble and you could add this detail if you had a suitable rabbit. There is space on base for a sign which is missing but not too noticeable. I've been creative with the color going for a variation in skin/ hair tones. One of my only issues with this kit's design is that the subject is depicted with a full body coat of thick straight hair except for his face. Hands, and bottoms of feet. This'ape man' look obviously differs from more modern anthropological depictions but this was 1971. So he's varying shades of tanned browns with some sun tanning and grime added as well. DON'T MISS THIS CHANCE TO OBTAIN THIS VERY RARE PLASTIC MODEL! Please note: I ACCEPT PAYPAL ONLY Thanks

NEANDERTHAL MAN, Original 1953 Sci-Fi, Monster Film 22x28 Halfsheet Poster
Original 22x28-inch halfsheet movie poster is from the 1953 United Artists sci-fi/ horror/ caveman/ monster film. THE NEANDERTHAL MAN, which starred Robert Shayne, Joyce Terry, Richard Crane, Doris Merrick, Beverly Garland, Robert Long, Tandra Quinn, Lee Morgan, Eric Colmar, Dick Rich and Robert Easton. The film was directed by Ewald Andre Dupont. This is an original studio-issued poster- NOT a copy or reproduction. Half-sheets are horizontal format posters that are printed on heavy card-stock paper. They originally came rolled, but were often folded by theater owners. This halfsheet has been folded, and as usual, it has two fold lines- one vertical and one horizontal. The poster features a great shot of the caveman monster menacing various screaming women. The halfsheet has some light soiling on the borders, plus a number of small tears/nicks ... morealong the edges. Several of the edge tears have been reinforced on the back with acid-free, archival paper tape. However, these flaws are minor and they do not affect the image area. Otherwise, the colors are strong and the poster is in solid VG+ condition. It will display beautifully. Please see picture for further info on condition. wonderful neanderthal naturally backed jasper convexe scraper ca. 50 000BC
The Neandertal was named after theologian Joachim Neander. Who lived nearby in Düsseldorf in the late 17th century. Neander" is a classicized form of the common German surname Neumann. In turn, Neanderthals were named after"Neander Valley" where the first Neanderthal remains were found. The term Neanderthal Man was coined in 1863 by Anglo-Irish geologist William King. From the period called"Mousterian" 150 000- 40 000 b.c. tools made of stone. Settlement sites and some parts of human skulls were found. Evidence for hunters and collectors in this period was found in Bavaria, Baden-Württemberg and other parts of Germany. Neanderthals are thought to have used tools of the Mousterian class. Which were often produced using soft hammer percussion, with hammers made of materials like bones, antlers, and wood, rather ... morethan hard hammer percussion, using stone hammers. A result of this is that their bone industry was relatively simple. However, there is good evidence that they routinely constructed a variety of stone implements. Neanderthal(Mousterian) tools most often consisted of sophisticated stone-flakes, task-specific hand axes, and spears. Many of these tools were very sharp. There is also good evidence that they used a lot of wood, objects which are unlikely to have been preserved until today. The tool has a small recent abrasion at the platform remnant ... moreand a tiny one at the distal end. They do not affect the man-made retouch and in no way detract from value and beauty of this scraper, Additional Information. Literature: Some characteristics of the Quina Mousterian industry: only little Levallois technique was used. But Clacton flakes were preferred, no handaxes were found in the assemblages, a very high percentage of scrapers with lateral, double, convergent, transverse as most common ones, and sometimes small very thin scrapers with a very fine stepped retouch. Preferred retouch was the stepped/ or Quina retouch, made with hard strikes first which produced broad, irregular flake negatives and secondary refining retouches directly at the edges in a second step. Origin. Site: the famous(eponymous) site of La Quina. Charente, France, excavated by Dr. Henri-Martin from 1905 to 1936. 40.000Y.O:ACE LARGE FLINT BORER NEANDERTHAL MAN STONE AGE PALEOLITHIC MOUSTERIAN
EUROPEAN STONE AGE ARTIFACTS BY PALATINA AUTHENTICITY GUARANTEED Description Outstanding Middle Paleolithic( Paleolithic) borer of the Homo Neanderthalensis- the Neanderthal( Neandertal) men from the Mousterian phase about 40.000- 60.000 years ago. The length is 91 mms! Wonderful thick patinated marble-like white flint! The Mousterian industry appeared around 200.000 years ago and persisted until about 40,000 years ago, in much the same areas of Europe, the Near East and Africa where Acheulean tools appear. In Europe these tools are most closely associated with Homo neanderthalensis, but elsewhere were made by both Neanderthals and early Homo sapiens. Mousterian tools required a preliminary shaping of the stone core from which the actual blade is struck off. The toolmakers either shaped a rock into a rounded surface before striking off the ... moreraised area as a wedge shaped flake(see photo at left) or they shaped the core as a long prism of stone before striking off triangular flakes from its length, like slices from a baguette. Because Mousterian tools were conceived as refinements on a few distinct core shapes, the whole process of making tools had standardized into explicit stages(basic core stone, rough blank, refined final tool) Variations in tool shapes could be produced by changes in the procedures at any stage. A consistent manufacturing goal was to increase as much as possible the cutting area on each blade. Though this made the toolmaking process more labor intensive, it also meant the edges of the tools could be reshaped or sharpened as they dulled, so that each tool lasted longer. The whole toolmaking industry had adapted to get the maximum utility from the labor invested at each step. Tool forms in the Mousterian industry display a wide range of specialized shapes. Cutting tools include notched flakes, denticulate(serrated) flakes, and flake blades similar to Upper Paleolithic tools. Points appear that seem designed for use in spears or lances, some including a tang or stub at the base that al
