Here we have an increadably rare find and that would be an older antique. Probably 1800s vintage, hand made Axe Handle that never had a head mounted on it! In many many years of hunting for tools I do believe this is the first for me,an older hand made axe handle that was never put on a head. Handle is made out of very straight grain hickry probably reflecting that it was split out of a log or billet instead of being sawn out; Handle is beautiful made with great form, just"feels" good. Shows signs of the tools used to make it such as the drawknife and rasps,Has an older style"Fawns Foot" end which has nice champhers. Top has never been cut for a wedge and I don't think was ever in an axe head.Handle measures about 32 inch overall, eye section is about 2 x 1/2 inch. VINTAGE AMERICANAX HATCHET HAND AXE HEAD GLASSPORTPA
Vintage Americanax(GLASSPORTPA) hatchet head in good used condition. This head weighs about 1 lb. 4 oz. Is about 5 1/8 inches long and the cutting edge is about 31/4 inches. It has been cleaned and clear coated. At this point you could fit it with a handle, sharpen it and put it to work or polish it out to make a show piece. This item has significant pitting from previous rust, I don't think it will ever polish out perfectly. The striking face has been mushroomed a bit and someone has dressed it a bit with a grinder. This damage comes very close to the trademark stamping. This stamping is fairly light and somewhat difficult to read. This would be a nice little hatchet to use if fitted with a new handle or it could certainly make a nice addition to your collection.

The vintage carbon steel Eagle stamped head is in excellent condition with no defects and has been cleaned. Treated, custom shaped by myself to my own design and all polished to show off the patina. Then the bit is polished and given a wicked edge sharper than a Fox dipped in Lemon. The ergonomically designed handle is custom made from Seasoned stock Ash with a straight end grain. Naturally coloured, treated with Teak Oil and Beeswax for a superior grip and shine then fixed with a wooden and Steel wedge. It won't slip out of your hand! Antique French Hand Axe or Hatchet Expected wear related to age& use but in excellent condition for its age. The cutting edge measures 12 cm. The head length from edge to poll is 22 cm. The shaft is 40 cm. The blade is in good solid condition and has a reasonable edge with only one small chip. It is sharpish but would of course need to be sharpened before serious use. The head is well seated on the shaft but does wobble under stress- a new wedge would be sensible if the axe was to be put to use. Nicely marked up to unknown maker. I made this y'all. It's hand carved by ME. When I saw these European socket axes I realized that these are stone age viking weapons. I have reproduced this ENGLISH Axe head with shaft hole found in Flora. Western Norway. Exhibited in Bergen museum. Last pic# 8. I made it to fit an old sledge hammer handle that I left unfinished because it looks like it has been in battle. I put 1 coat of boiled linsead oil on it. Head is just tamped on the handle and I didn't use glue or wrap leather strips to hold it because it stays in place so well. You can do all that if you want to. It's more authentic like it is. If you bump it on the floor with the head in your hand it will easily come off the handle. under the head you will see the letter F to show you the front so you can retamp it from the top and you are ready for battle. The handle ... moreis 28" long and oval in shape so it will not twist as you clobber the enemy. Head is 6" long. 3.25" wide, 2.5" tall and 2 lb, 4 oz.

vintage HB HULTS BRUKS hand axe camp hatchet w/ wooden handle from Sweden
Up for auction is a 1&1/4 HULTS BRUKS camp hatchet made in Sweden. The handle has a couple splits on the end probably from being banged on and misused but is still a pretty solid handle with some of the original blue paint on it and traces of blue paint on the head as well. The head doesn't show any signs of abuse and doesn't appear to have been sharpened down very much at all. The closeups bring out every little detail and the head is smoother than it appears in them. The first photo is a better example of the actual appearance.

Hello from Japan There are five famous producing districts of the edged tools in Japan. SEKI. TAKEHUSHI, SAKAI, MIKI, and TOSA. Our town has been called TOSA from 700 years or more before. And forged many edged tools. The blacksmiths use the forge technique called"WARIKOMI" and make various edged tools. It becomes the structure which resembled KATANA by putting carbon steel in mild steel. Then.An edged tool is tough and it becomes easy to grind by using the technique. About"laminate" When reference is made about the laminated steel and single steel which were forged. The edge in which the laminated is harder than single can be made. If a steel is rapidly cooled in order to harden. A crack will occur. In order to avoid it. A single raises chilling temperature, but when it is laminate, since carbon steel is supported by ... moremild steel, it can cool at a temperature lower than a single. Here is an old Winchester hatchet or small hand axe that measures about 15 ¾ inches long. About 6 inches across with a 3 ½-inch cutting edge. The steel is solid and mostly rust free, but it does have some dings, some wear, someone‘s initials on one side, and some mushrooming on the hammer end. Here is. I believe, a unique,older, hand-made tomahawk-style axe which may be for throwing. It has a really nice leather sheath with belt loop. The little button is a section of an antler. The leather lace holding it on is broken on one side. The axe measures 16 1/2" overall. the steel head is about 6" in length. The handle has a slight bend in it and two small cracks and is definitely hand carved. The axe head has some rough spots and edge"nicks"Weighs about 1 pound ten ounces. Very Collectible H H Stricker Vinemount PA Hand Forged Axe or Hatchet
Offered for purchase ONE Very Collectible H H Stricker Vinemount PA Hand Forged Axe or Hatchet. Measuring 13 7/8" overall. The head is 5 1/4" long across the center, the edge is 3 1/8" high(straight across) and this weighs 2 lbs 3 1/4 oz unboxed. H H Stricker was a PA blacksmith who made axes and other tools in Vinemount PA, which is to the SW of Reading PA in northern Lancaster county, from 1884 until 1896. This is in decent condition and was cleaned. The front has some flaws and pitted spots but that isn't too bad. The back has some overall pitting, probably laid someplace wet, no? The edge has some light dings. The steel bit is about 1/2" wide at the bottom and 3/8" at the top. There is a small chip out of the body where it meets the bit on the front at the bottom. The poll has some mushrooming and looks like ... moreit had some cleaned off at some point. The eye is good with no cracks that I can see. The ears are slightly chamfered. The handle is old and possibly the original one. That has some dinging on the front below the head and a split at the back coming down from the eye. The rest is okay. The handle is on tight, well at least sitting here. This one ain't perfect but as these old axes go, well it sure ain't bad either. A good collectible Pennsylvania axe for sure! This stone is approx. 4 in. long and 2 5/8 in. at its widest. It weighs approx. 4.8 oz. This item has not been authenticated but is believed to be an American Indian artifact.
