ATTRIBUTION: Roman Provincial Moesia. First Century A.D. SIZE/MEASUREMENTS: Length: 79 millimeters(3 1/8 inches) Width: 69 millimeters(2 5/8 inches) Height: 22 millimeters(7/8 inch) CONDITION: Good integrity. All original with no repairs. Some very hard and stubborn alkaline soil deposits inside of bowl. Moderate wear around fill hole consistent with use in the ancient world. DETAIL: This is a well preserved terracotta oil lamp dated to the first century A.D. Its origin is Roman Provincial Moseia. Present-day Bulgaria. The top surface of the oil lamp portrays an impressed braided pattern around the rim of the fill hole, a little indistinct, but basically a geometric pattern of a chain of small rectangles. There’s also a trademark of some sort on the underside surface of the pedestal. It too is a bit indistinct, but it seems to be a circle with a two characters inside the circle. It’s not possible really to determine whether they might have been letters or merely figures. But clearly the pedestal contains a trademark. It was not uncommon for the artisans who produced these pieces to leave some sort of“trade mark” on the underside of the pedestal so as to identify it as their produce. The style is very characteristic of the lamps manufactured for domestic use in the Roman Provinces. As can be seen the design elements of the vessel are even after the passage of almost 2.000 years, by and large intact intact. Though by no means rare, it is uncommon to find such a nice design in such a well-preserved state– whole and relatively intact with no major breakage or repairs. A genuine Etruscan pottery spool. 5.6 x 2.7 cms, from a Northumbrian collection formed in the mid 20thC; these spools were placed in tombs and served a votive function, it has been suggested they represented either seals or wool-spinning implements. A grey pottery vessel with a rounded base and pinched spout on the rim- 5.7 x 7 cms, unidentified but ancient, possibly Italic. A bucchero type pottery vessel with lid, moulded decoration including heads around the shoulder and a bird shaped finial- 15 x 12 cms including lid- not ancient in my opinion, bought many years ago at Bonhams auctioneers in London with other items. Nice color gold filled. Sort of rosey, Inside is etched in that great old beautiful script, Sept 1881. The clasp is gone, it looks like it would need one of those push in styles that goes inside the tubing. I'm not sure. Has two little rings for a guard chain(missing) Design is neat, lots of granulatiion, braided in the design of the two balls. There is a six point star, like a Star of David in the center. Weighs 11.7 grams. Inside measurement is 2 1/16th" across. Center circle motif is about 15mm. the two balls are each 7 mm. The tubing is good, I see no dents, I have not polished it at all. 1884 Victorian Etruscan Motif Gold Filled Double Hinged Bangle Bracelet
At auction is a Victorian hinged bangle bracelet patented in 1884. It is gold filled and in the Etruscan style. It measures 2" long from side to side. 1 1/2" wide, and the inside circumference is very small when not worn since the arms are spring loaded. Both arms do expand, so the bracelet will accommodate average wrists. The bracelet features a center circular portion into which the arms are fastened. It is 9/16" in diameter and in the top is a pink and green gold flower. On the top of each arm is an applied design. The piece has no company names or marks other than the patent date, Feb. 5, 1884. It is in very good condition with no damage to the top or arms and it is not bent. The springs are good and the bracelet has little gold loss. Beautiful antique bracelet. Thanks for looking.

The carved masks have a porous appearance to them whereas the surrounding pieces have a more shiny glass-like appearance. Late 1880's gorgeous and most unusual necklace made of gilt and in the middle of each link sits a hand carved grotesque mask/face. A central drop completes the piece. The carving is not of the finest quality but nonetheless a lovely piece. One of the links has come loose but I will be fixing it before despatch. Extension chain with a hook and eye clasp on the end. Antique Victorian or Art Deco era. Dark salmon Coral Branch Double Belt Buckle, ARTEX Co. New York a spectacular double belt buckle. I've never seen another one like it size: just shy of 5 1/2" wide when buckled(see photos with penny& ruler for size reference) Description: lovely natural dark salmon coral branches. Hand sewn with brass wire to the embossed brass buckle fittings. Surface appears to be copper plated, lovely warm dark copper patina, slight touch of verdigris on one side near attachment, and some patina on the back. Buckle is in very good order, clasps nicely. Coral branches are attached with brass wire, I see no missing or broken branches. Condition: coral color is a lovely dark salmon. Victorian yellow and rose gold filled Etruscan brooch/pin with faceted clear paste stone dangle. Pin is 2" long. 3/4" high, and weighs 4.06 grams. Paste is 5 mm. In excellent, antique condition with small amounts of wear along the bottom edges. When worn, this can't be seen as it is mostly on the back edges. Pin is straight. One claw is missing and could use a gentle cleaning. Nice detail throughout. Payment by PAYPAL.
