Vintage Sterling Silver Ancient Egypt Scarab Dung Beetle Pendant Necklace Iraq
Beautiful old sterling silver pendant is on a newer sterling silver chain. I am not certain of the age of the pendant. But when I bought it was told it is from the 1960s or so, perhaps older. The Ancient Egyptian design of a scarab dung beetle has a beautiful and intricate design on the top and the bottom, it is hollow in the center and has a cut out design on the bottom. The pendant is about 2 1/8" long from the top of the lotus flower bail. The actual beetle is about 1.5" long. The pendant is about 1/2" tall. It has an impressed hallmark from Iraq, but no date mark. It is marked"925" on the back of the bail. The pendant and 17 3/4" long chain are both in very good condition. The entire necklace with the pendant and chain weighs approximately 22.5 grams, it is substantial and beautifully made.

Up for bid is an excellent Ancient Egypt Necklace. I believe this is a Tribal piece from the Maurya Warriors. Circa 260 B.C. I bought this Necklace from a woman in Murray, Utah who inherited it from her Great Grandmother. She told me it was a gift to her Grandmother, from the wife of the Ambassador to Mexico who received it as a gift, when her husband was serving in that capacity. The silver bead on the bottom looks Estrucan, so I'm not sure how it all ties together. But the carved beads are the top of an Obelisk on both sides. Everything about this piece is symbolic.
