Purple Violet Fiddleback Chasuble Priest Vestment
Up for auction is violet fiddleback-style chasuble with matching stole. The detail work is quite impressive. I'm not sure of the age or country of origin. Although this vestment is in excellent shape. The orphreys are very nice, and the embroidered cross on the front is meticulously done. Was cleaned recently and hasn't been used since. Could use a good ironing, but aside from that, this set is in excellent shape. A great find for Lent!

Priest's Purple/White Reversible Lenten Stole
Priest's reversible Lenten stole with purple on one side and white on the other. It is made from a heavy woven cloth material. The white end panels have a large black cross and a black cross at the neck. The purple side is plain with a black cross at the neck.on both sides has a large gold cross. The neck portion is mitered for proper fit. The white neck area has some light sweat staining which should come clean with washing. The stole is 49 inches long from neck to one end and 4 inches wide. Vintage Religious Shrine Altar Byzantine? Greek?
Offered for sale is this vintage Religious Shrine or altar. Not sure what it is of but looks like pictures I have seen of ancient Greek or Byzantine type icons. It has a lot of hand tooling on the metal with 1949 on either side. There are 3 iconic pictures in the recessed areas. I am not sure what the metal is but is does tarnish slightly and when I rubbed it off it is very shiny underneath. Possible silver but no makers mark that I can see. I know very little about these tassels. Other than they are very old, and are guaranteed as represented. They are made from hand twisted and wrapped gold wire, which I was told is 9K, but I can't confirm that. The provenance, which has been handed down verbally from generation to generation, is that they are from Ireland, and belonged to an Irish Catholic priest in the 1800's. They were apparently removed from the stoles or robes that he wore after he died, and kept by the family, who immigrated to the U.S. in the early 1900's. The person I got them from was a close friend of that family. I took them to the local Catholic church(St. Williams) and the deacon there said these items were very old, and had not been used by the church in recent history. A Rare Applique! Perfect applique for use on a banner or the back of a Chasuble for First Communions or Baptisms! It is very hard to take pictures of this beautiful applique because the pictures do not do it justice. This applique is on a light blue velvet background. The faces. Hands, and feet on the angel and child are all hand painted on fabric. The angel cape is Cloth of gold. The wings and the angel's dress are cloth of silver dotted with metal gold stars and flowers. Red Purple. Or Church Purple Prelate's Zucchetto This Zucchetto was made with eight silk panels. There is a twisted stem. Or stirpes. Of matching piping atop the center. It is lined with red cotton fabric. Also consisting of 8 panels. In the Catholic tradition. The Zucchetto is most commonly made of silk or polyester fabric. The design utilises eight triangular panels that are joined to form a hemispherical skullcap. Jutting from the center of the Zucchetto at the top is the"stem" known as stirpis or stirpes. It is made of a twisted loop of silk cord and is meant to make the handling of the Zucchetto easier. The stirpes is the primary visual distinction between the Zucchetto and the Jewish kippah.
