Stunning vestment- purchased in Europe from a Normandy church near Mont St Michele that was selling early church vestments. In fine shape for a priest to use or on a wall/ table. Front heavy woven brocade is a strong silky fabric and has fleur de lis within four pointed cross-shaped flowers. Fabric intact. Front faded to lighter blues, back stronger turquoise. Green is heavy woven taffeta& in lovely shape throughout with a few spots of dirt which should come out easily(I did not attempt to remove) I estimate the vestment to be made between 1900-1920. Gold- thread trim is from 19th c. and truly beautiful. There are two types. We are not certain but believe he was a Bishop. This is a"Chasuble" which is the outermost liturgical vestment worn by clergy for the celebration of the Eucharist in Western-tradition Christian Churches that use full vestments. The chasuble measures about 42.5 inches long from the top of the collar to bottom hem. It has the old style"bell-shape" to it. The material is a creamy colored polyester-blend? This chasuble is embellished with ornate bands of green and rose colored ... morematerial with a large Christian symbol on the backside. This robe is vintage and used. It would benefit from a dry cleaning. We have not done so. There is some wear consistent with age and being worn. The button snap closure needs to be replaced. There are quite a few stains on the front side. Some on the back as well. Appears to be just on the top layer of material not thru to the red underside material. Also, a small section of the seam has let go around the neckline. This chasuble has no makers tag and does appear to have a good age to it. This stole is absolutely beautiful and in super condition. It has no spills or stains and seems to have never been worn. As the label will show. It was made by the Contemplative Sisters of the Good Sheppard and is of very good quality. The metallic glistens much more than my Nikon will show. Lot of 4 Vintage Clergy Stole Vestment white green cream and yellow nice
These are very nice and clean vintage stoles with no spills or stains. The one exception is stole number 4 and it is a small dot that is pictured. 1 is no exception it is clean with nothing on it but green and a gold stripe. It measures 49" long and is 3 1/2" wide at the bottom and 3" at the top. It is lined with the same material as the front and I am not sure what that is. It could be polyester. 2 is also very clean with no spills or stains. It is a very soft yellow color and measures from top to bottom 55" and is 4" wide at the bottom and 3 1/2" at the top. It is a very soft and I think linen type material on both sides. 3 is also a very clean white stole with the exception of a small area at the collar that is on the edge(pictured) and could be a discoloring of the threads. It measures from top to bottom ... more55" and is 4" wide at the bottom and is 3" wide at the top. It is the same material front and back. 4 this stole is an absolutely beautiful cream color and has no issues with one exception. It has a small dot of something and I have it pictured. Beautiful Green Vestment Set This is a very nice vestment set. I listed it as used. But I think it was purchased and then put in storage. There are no signs of usage at all. The set includes a chasuble, stole, chalice veil and burse. The fabric is a nice green fabric with religious symbols in it. Lovely orange and gold banding to form a Saint Andrew's cross on the chasuble. The set is dedicated in memory of Mary Jane McManus. The entire set is in incredible condition. This is another very nice stole that is in great condition with the exception of one small stain that I have pictured. It is not even noticeable when the garment is in the light as it is hidden in all the glitter. One other thing is a jewel missing on the top of the amber cluster in the green band. This is the last set of Vestment Stoles we have to offer… This auction is for 7 Vestment Stoles and 1 gold Vestment Rope Cincture. This is a mixed lot. Although two of the stoles are very similar. The first and second Stoles each measure 96” long and are 3 ¼” wide. Both stoles are made from light weight cotton with silver metallic threads sewn into the pattern. One has varying shades of red stripes and other had varying shades of purple stripes. The third and fourth Stoles are both in the purple color family. The third stole measures 98” long and is 4 ¾” wide. It is a light plum color and the fabric is a very light weight silky polyester blend with an ink stamped gold cross on each end and a faded gold cross at the“v” neck. The fourth Stole is a mid weight polyester fabric in a royal purple(it matches the purple and silver stole in color perfectly) and has a fabric paint stamped cross symbol in yellow gold at the neck.
