I think this silk IHS brocade cloth is a chalice veil. It measures approximately 18 inches square. The condition is excellent. But there is a teeny area where the fabric is soiled. It is barely noticeable, and I mention it only for accuracy in the listing. This spotlet appears to be recent, not a soaked in stain and would most likely remove. I have not attempted to clean it as I am a terrible laundress. It has a C.M. Almy& Son. Rye NY label sewn on the backside. Comes from a clean. Smoke-free, pet-free environment. Made in France consisting of a nice medium weight White woven Linen. Embellished with three shades of cut velvet. Outlined with a fine metallic trim. The Chasuble when opened measures 56" wide& 40" long. There is an inserted zipper on the left side shoulder, making it easier to put on and remove. The stole depicts a solid metallic gold cross at the point at the back of the nape. Also, a total of ten highly gilted gold metallic tassles. All four pieces are lined in a white french silk. Red Vestment Catholic Brocade 'Jeweled' Chasuble set (w/ stole, maniple, veil)
Offered for auction is a chasuble with matching stole. Veil and maniple. This chasuble is part of a set– please see my other listing for the other matching items(cope, dalmatic, etc. This set consists of red and blue'velvet' or similar material- sorry. Not an expert in this) on a base red damask fabric(the camera light makes it appear orange in places but it is red) The ophreys of blue have been overlaid with gold cutwork with several rhinestones along the cutwork length to highlight the details. The effect is very rich. It is offered for auction with no reserve. The low starting price and Buy-It-Now is because the item needs to be sold. It has barely any wear. Please note the following before bidding or buying this item: 1) The stones laid on the vestments give off a very bright/sparkling effect in the light. This can give a very ... morerich effect. But is dependent on the environment. Certain settings e.g. bright artificial spotlight settings, may be inadvisable. 2) The chasuble head opening is narrow. And it does not appear to have a zip or snaps. It may require one to be added to fit over the head of some ministers. I have several other items from a collection that I am listing this week.
