Antique Fine Linen and Tulle Priest’s Alb With Crewel
Exquisite antique vestment from the 1920’s. Very fine linen with a deep V neck and cloth ties. With only one small place in the collar which has pulled away and looks like it’s been repaired years ago. The tulle portion of the alb measures 32” in length from the linen body and is 50” around. The hem is scalloped and the crewel design work is extremely florid with baskets of flowers, tridentine crosses and trailing flowers and leaves. The upper portion of the tulle has scattered leaves and crosses. The major portion of the crewel work measures 14” up from the hem. The alb measures from neck to hem approximately 57" width across the back, measuring under the sleeves is 33" There is some minor old repair work on the portion of the body of the alb and where the tulle is sewn. A very obvious place where tears could occur. All in all, ... morethe condition is very good and the innate fragility of both the linen and the tulle has certainly stood the test of time. Obvious care from the attending nuns attest to the alb’s condition.
