Wood tray for antique steamer trunk. Tray measures 29 1/2" long. 15 5/8"wide, and 5 1/2" deep. It originally sat on wood side supports built into the trunk. Tray has small metal brackets on each end with a divider down the center. This came out of an old roll-top or camel-back trunk, but would fit a flat-top trunk as well. There is a sliver of wood missing from the center divider as shown in the first picture. This would be best as a free pick-up, but will deliver this to a shipper in Elizabethtown, Ky, if you pay for packing and shipping. I picked up this chest with the intentions of restoring it but just don't have the time. I do not know much about these other than the fact that they look cool. I have no idea how old it is. Who made it, or what it's worth. The measurements are as follows: 30" W x 19" D x 21" H. I especially like the metal hardware on this chest and it seems to be in good condition. It's clearly been around the world a few times but has a lot of life left. Antique trunks. Also called traveling chests, were originally used as luggage for extended trips by stagecoach, train, or steamship. The classic flat top trunks with canvas or metal background and hardwood staves were made from about the 1870s to around 1920. They are often covered in smooth metal, embossed, metal, or canvas. They then have wood slats and metal banding to strengthen them and for decorative design. These range from the basic trunks for utility to the more elaborate French and European designers. On this trunk, the interior tray is missing and the leather handles are missing. Exact date of this steamer trunk is unknown. But I was told it could be around the 1890's, but i can't guarantee that. It is in a very"rustic" condition. Quite beat up but thats part of its charm. Which is the result of a cat vs. candle incident. It has been, until recently, concealed under a plant. Hi. Thanks for visiting. I'm selling my antique steamer trunk because of the fact that we're downsizing our living situation. Otherwise, I would certainly hang on to it- it is really a nice piece. I acquired this at a local antique store about ten years ago and have kept it on display ever since. It is made mostly of wood. With some metal rivets and leather straps. I'm not sure when it was constructed, but it is definitely of significant age. It measures approximately 34" long by 21" wide by 24" tall. The trunk is obviously old. So it isn't in perfect condition. One of the metal buckles has come loose from one of the leather straps, for instance. Antique Vintage Chest Steamer Trunk Leather *Local Pick-up ONLY!
I am not sure how old this trunk is. It is in very rough condition. Please see pics for your own judgment on condition. Some rails inside are missing and or broken off that I believe was for an inside tray. The two side leather handles are worn off. There are still leather loops around the trunk that I think the straps would have gone through to secure but the actual straps are gone as well. There is no key. There are 3 shipping stickers from address destinations still intact for the most part but are very difficult to read. 2 of them are from"American Railway Express" and the other says"Dominion Express. The outside of the trunk has a canvas like texture to it and may have been partially painted brown at some point. The trunk itself is real wood construction. From the inside the top of the lid has a paper type covering but ... moreis peeling and you can see the wood planks through it. The trunk has the traditional metal corners and trim work. I will say that the latches and center lock are pretty cool looking. The top is a little different than most of the trunks I have researched. I usually see a flat top or dramatic dome/curved top. This trunk has a slight curve to it that you can view from the side pics. Lastly. The pictures make the trunk look lighter because of the camera's flash than in person. It is a bit darker live. This is a repainted flat black lot of very old steamer trunk hardware. You get all u see! There is an Eagle Lock& latch. 2 sets of fastener hinges and a flat plate. No key with the Eagle lock but it is numbered 3446 so might be something easy enough to find but I no longer have the original. All were cleaned well and repainted. One piece still has an old nail in one hole but just will need to be cut out before use. Ready to use lot but you will need a key for the latch with the lock. Happy to answer questions! This is simply a HUGE steamer trunk. One of the largest domed trunks I have come across. It is 40" wide. 32" high and 22" deep. It is a very sturdy and solid trunk. The center lock was cut off of it, however the side latches work properly. It is incredibly ornate and has immense potential. The insert inside the lid works but is coming loose and there is no drawer insert. Trunk still has a sticker on the bottom from the American Railway Company from the 1920's era. Just on the top of this trunk are 14 ornately etched plates of metal hardware. All the tin on the chest is embosed with a raised floral pattern. It is truly beautiful. The lock comes without a key and I am not sure if it works. Both latches operate properly. Both leather side handles are missing. They can easily be replaced but I want to leave the trunk 100% original. The trunk is made from tin, metal, and wood. The insert inside the trunk is fully functional and just needs a new coat of lacquer. The trunk was found with many others in the basement of an old building in lower Manhattan. The building manager said they were stored there years ago from unclaimed steamer trunks owned by immigrants who came over from Europe to Ellis Island. Please ask any questions. Antique/Vintage wardrobe Steamer Travel Trunk locks with keys
Vintage/Antique wardrobe steamer trunk dark green exterior blue interior. Exterior- Scuffs and scratches visible are typical of its use over the years. Some light rust noted to brass parts visible in photos. No structural damage as far as dents or holes. Aligns properly closes tight and locks. The two original keys are included fits exterior lock and interior drawer lock. There appears to have been a large label of some sort removed from the top of the trunk(top meaning trunk standing in position to open) This has left behind a dull spot on the finish. Leather handle is in place but has deteriorated and is broken. The broken portion is under the metal clamp and is not visible. The brake in the leather is hidden leaving the handle the ability to serve esthetical purposes. Interior- left side- Top lifts up. Curtain folds back to three wooden ... morehangers on an extendable rack. Midway an adjustable bar is designed to hold hanging clothes in place while trunk is in transit. Located at the bottom is a vinyl flap with three snaps. It attaches in the back and snaps in in the front, great for shoe storage. Right side- Four pull out drawers. The drawers operate properly alight we'll and have no structural damage. On the outside portion of some of the lowers drawers some of the finish is pealing. This is not visible unless you remove the drawer and turn it around to inspect the portion that faces the inside of the cabinet. The interior of the drawers(where clothes touch drawer) is intact. The top drawer has an operational lock. Original key included. A metal bar is attached to the trunk behind the drawers. It runs vertical the length of the drawers. Antique Camelback Steamer Trunk Dome Top Tin Storage Toys Treasure Chest
This is a gorgeous antique camelback steamer trunk. It measures 33.5" x 19" And the dome reaches 20 3/4 inches tall. It has curved wood pieces with tin fittings, and it has wheels underneath. One of the side latches works perfectly, and the one on the left will fit closed but will not stay closed. I have not tried to close the main latch in the middle because I do not have a key. Note the older style slightly rectangular nailheads. Inside you can see some bare wood in places. But much of it is still covered by the original paper. You can also see two stickers that say Uncle Sam US Army standard 10 1/2. I have no idea what that refers to or their date. Just to the right of the right sticker, you can barely see the remains of the original sticker that was in the trunk. There is only a very, very slightly musty odor. Or"steamer" which are sometimes referred to as flat-tops, first appeared in the late 1870s, although the greater bulk of them date from the 1880-1920 period. They are distinguished by either their flat or slightly-curved tops and were usually covered in canvas, leather or patterned paper and about 14 inches tall to accommodate steamship luggage regulations. There has been much debate and discourse on what these types of trunks are actually called. In some old catalogs, these trunks were called"packers" and the"steamer" trunk actually referred to a trunk that is often called a cabin trunk. Large Antique Hartman Wardrobe Steamer Trunk- Beautiful Leather Patina!
Excellent condition 1910-20's era steamer/wardrobe trunk. 23"x30.5x40.5" The brown"gibralterized" leather patina and wear is exquisite- like one of those sought after antique club chairs. It would make a beautiful side table closed and just as nice useable wardrobe for a tight space. These are rarely in such pristine condition. Interior is clean and practically unused. 5 drawers with leather pulls. 12 wooden hangers- 2 types- several different sizes. The lock was popped but the engaging mechanism works perfectly. All the pieces for the original lock are included. Burgundy velour fabric on the top cushion and hanging clothes holdback are is perfect shape.

Antique Flat Top Steamer Trunk For Small Dolls Dates Late 1800's - 1910's
This is a very old childs steamer trunk for small dolls. It's wood covered with decorative paper. Has a metal band around edge of lid. Has leather handles but one needs replaced. Has latch and lock but I don't know if it works because I don't have a key. Hinges are good. Needs new strap to hold lid up when you open it. Also still has the top insert. For as old as it is its in pretty good condition. The paper covering is very fragile. Is already missing pieces. The trunk measures 10" long x 4" tall x 6" deep. It is a very neat piece.
