It measures 36 inches long by 24 in ches tall with the lid closed by 20 inches deep. It features a remova ble storage tray and more linens. Beddings. And clothing can be placed underne ath for conv enient additional hu ge storage. It is a wood structure trunk and frame with smooth me tal(black) and woven pattern metal riveted overlays with beautiful beading to ta ck in metals and curved and straight gorg eousl y grained wood slat s. Here's what I stated about it s condition: Metal overlay surfaces have been repainted and restored. Some scratches and scuffs marks on beautifully grained wood slats. Leather handle missing on left side. Flip up side locking latches both flip up into locking position. But only one catches to keep it lock closed and the other is missing its catch. Center locking latching closes in position but does not lock and there is no key. Interior lining shows foxing and staining and has some t ares due to great age. But smells clean with nice scent like cedar inside. Truly a rare beauty of extra large size that has great looks and craftsmanship on evident in these earlier era pieces of exceptional beauty. So you may want to grab it quick, before it is gone! Note: Not shipping overseas nor to Alaska on this one. Only to domestic United States. The outside brass has a little oxidation and there are assorted nicks and dings from use but overall it's in pretty good shape. It has all four(4) drawers. The top drawer locks and I believe one of the keys works in that lock. All the hanging mechanisms work- the hanging bars extend out etc. I have all the wooden hangers(see photo) It smells a little musty inside but probably nothing Febreeze and fresh air won't fix. The lock on the outside works and I have two(2) original keys plus a new one I had to have made when I locked the keys inside. I have always called this the Circus trunk because I bought it in Sarasota. Florida which has very strong circus ties. Antique steamer trunk Hump back Dome lid child size chest Tin wood or cardboard
This is bigger than a doll trunk I think. But smaller than an adult size, so I think it was probably for a child to use while traveling or for storage. 20" wide, 12 1/2" tall and 11 1/2" deep. I think it has a this layer of tin with a faux wood grain patter on it and that is either over cardboard or wood. The chest is not super heavy, about 9 1/2 pounds, so it is probably a combination of both materials. Please use the pictures to determine condition. You can tell this was used and it is showing its age. One side has the remnants of what looks like was a leather handle, but the other side does not even have the metal parts of that handle. There are some rivets missing, one of the latches on the front side is missing parts and none of the three seems functional. One of the hinges on the back side is painted green. The tin covering ... moreis scuffed and dented. Still, overall condition for its age, is not really that bad. The lid opens and closes easily and the whole trunk is still solid, not wobbly. I don't have a tray or a key for this one.

What can I say about this? Shown is an awesome old steamer chest that has it's roots in Scotland. It even shows the passenger's name. A. Hanning, and destination on it. It shows normal wear for something this age. It measures 36" tall by 21" wide by 14 1/2" deep. I'm sure there is some very interesting history and stories behind this trunk. Antique Marshall Fields Steamer Trunk made by Oshkosh
A chance to own a great piece of history! Up for auction is a Marshall Fields and Company Chicago steamer trunk by Oshkosh. The last patent on the trunk is 1930. The initials L.S. are on the trunk. It aligns when put together and goes together but does lock/shut completely. Possibly some part of brass closure is missing. Does have a slight musty odor. It has all the drawers on the right side of the trunk and has a curtain with an iron on the left side of the trunk. I think something is missing from the bottom left of the trunk, possibly a shoe drawer? It has the Marshall Fields and Oshkosh tags on it. It is brown and there is wear on the outside as it has not been restored. There are some white marks also on outside. Large antique trunk.someone tried to paint it white and the paint is crumbling off. It kinda gives it a really cool and scary look maybe for a halloween prop. The inside is tattered and torn but the whole thing is rather sturdy. One of the pictures shows the unpainted bottom and it looks like the original color is a deep oak or cherry wood. HUGE Antique Dome Top Camel Back Steamer Trunk --- 35.5” x 28” x 21”
This antique dome top trunk is in marvelous condition for its age. There is no major damage to this trunk. Just normal wear and tear that you would expect in an item this old… and which I will describe in detail later on…this beauty has tons of character! The beautifully curved dome top, with 5 strips of curved 2-inch wood…is a sight to behold. Just on the top of this trunk are 18 ornately etched plates of metal hardware. The lock hardware and lock are gorgeous, too. The trunk is made from tin, metal, and wood. There is a total of seventeen 2” wood strips of varying lengths found on all sides of the trunk. The wood strips look like oak to me…they’re in excellent condition. The trunk measures about 35.5” long across the bottom x 21” wide at the ends x 28” tall to the center of the dome, which is the highest point. There is some surface rust ... moreon the trunk. Mainly on the bottom…nothing has rusted through. In many of the photos where I used flash, it appears that there is rust on a lot of the surface area. This does not show up as prominently under normal lighting conditions. I believe that perhaps the trunk has been varnished and/or stained at one time… there is a beautiful glossy finish to the tin surface. Most of the ornate hardware is in excellent condition, also…a few pieces are bent or have minor damage. There’s lots of surface dents on the tin, as you would expect. The lock does not work. The hinged lock tabs do not close. The hinge inside of the trunk that holds the lid open is broken…it needs repair or replacement. The leather handles at each end of the trunk are new…I would not try to lift the trunk with these handles, however. Following is a brief description of each side of the trunk. With information that I have not already mentioned: Dome Top: Beautiful curved top with five 2-inch curved wood strips. Wonderful ornately etched metal hardware nailed at the ends of each wood strip. Hello, Up for auction is a very neat Antique Steamer Trunk. This trunk measures about 40 longx 22 wide x 13 deep. This trunk was sent to the Wisconsin State Historical Society- it is written in paint on the top of trunk It has the two shipping tags on both sides- on it it states that the contents were historical photographs and china having to do with Col. Vintage/antique steamer trunk, black/brass, flat top, monogram "WFK",
This trunk has a lot going for it. With its flat top. It makes a nice coffee table. Once it gets aired out, it would be extra storage space. It is quite attractive, in a"shabby chic" sort of way. It is quite old, although I don't know where it came from. My mother had it in her attic for as long as I can remember(which is a pretty long time) For the past 8 years, it has been in storage. WE just got it out, but since we have 2 others, we really don't need this one. It is black, with brass fittings/edges, so its quite attractive. Unfortunately we didn't have the key so had to"pick" the lock. It will shut properly, so you can carry it, but won't lock. The leather handles on each end are well worn, but we were able to use them-carefully! to move the thing. Inside, it has a decent lining, which you can see in ... morephoto 6. There are 2 trays, neither one of which is the original, as they don't fit on the edges properly. The first, shown in photos 7 and 8, has 2 compartments and fastens with a couple leather straps with snaps(one is broken) The edges of this drawer are rather crushed(see photos 11 and 12) There is another tray underneath, which has some sort of dried goop, that probably was gooey at one point, as it has been covered with tape. On the left side, it has the monogram"WFK" written in red(photo 4) It was made by the"William Bal Company" in Newark, N.J. PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS ITEM IS PICK-UP ONLY. It's nice because we have historical information attached to the trunk- we have a signed document which will be included with the trunk which gives an interesting history to the piece.
