The useable space inside each drawer is 3-1/4" tall x 9" wide x 5" This sturdy. Cabinet is in good primitive condition, with wear and several repairs. The drawers are sturdy and well made. And they open without sticking. This primitive chest needs a new home with someone who understands that a few scars and repairs just give you more character! CONDITION: The top of the chest has a visible repair on both edges. The top left edge has a fairly clean repair. But the repair on the top right edge is more obvious because there is a small chunk of wood missing. This repair does not look the best, but the top of the cabinet is not loose. Wood shrinkage caused a small split on one side. At the bottom edge, as shown below. The split is stable, and it will not be a problem. There is some thin white paint spatter in the same area. The finish has some wear, and there are some nicks, dings and scratches. The drawers are very sturdy and well made, but they have a few old stains inside.
