This is an October 1909 issue(see picture) of COPPER CLAD STEEL WIRE. A salesman's advertising booklet published by the Duplex Metals Company of New York. The booklet is 19 pages in length, and contains a wide variety of information about copper clad steel wire-from the weld, conductivity, and strength to the manufacturing process and uses for copper clad steel wire. There are several charts, too, such as the comparative characteristics of copper and copper clad. As a bonus, the booklet comes with an actual wire sample, approximately 5 inches in length. I can't attest to the authenticity of the sample, but it did come with the booklet. This booklet is clean and intact, exhibiting only minor wear and creasing from handling and storage over the past 103 years. It stands just 3.5" tall to the rim, not including the handle or handle hole, about 5" across at the top. The finish is very rough and pebbly, not sure if this is original or if the piece was rusty and repainted at some point. Nothing else like it on eBay, so maybe it's super-rare and expensive. Some wear from use on the corners. It includes a key that works in both locks. Some minor scratches on the surface, but hardly noticeable as it has received a coat of ArmorAll protectant. What a great estate sale find! A pair of 9" tall antique federal brass andirons with tongs! I am assuming these are a salesman sample set but I don't know for sure. These appear to be quite old but again I don't know their history. The owner of the estate was an elderly woman who told me these had always been in her grandmothers house. But that's all she knew. I also don't know if the iron parts are original or replacement. They are in good condition with a few blemishes here and there but one tip is broken off of the tongs. But could be used as doll furniture. The set consists of an armchair and table. All are in excellent untouched original condition. In searching for this beautiful set. I discovered that they could be circa 1920's-1930's. Considering its age and use, the set is nice and tight and the woven seats are also in excellent condition with no breaks. The tabletop has a variation in color that can be seen from my photos, please zoom in to see the natural beauty. It is fabulous folk art. Underneath the seat. Antique Vintage Doll's Bureau Dresser with Mirror or Salesman's Sample
Antique Doll's Bureau- Up for auction is an old doll's bureau or perhaps a salesman's sample. It has two drawers with wooden knobs and an above tilt mirror that needs to have a couple of more nails put in the sides for support on the back. Currently. Someone taped the back with duct tape, but this can easily be corrected. The drawers are ribbed and the bureau is painted with delicate flower detail on the front of the drawers. The paint is shabby style, but I did not repaint, preferring to leave that to you if you wish. The bureau measures 15" tall(including the mirror) 10.5" wide and 6.5" front to back. All of the the labels look like they are in nice condition except for one of them which has some stains on it(please see photos) The types of wood included are: Fir, Red Oak, Walnut, Mahogany and White Pine. The wood pieces measure 5 1/2" x 2 7/8" The wood pieces fit into slots inside the cardboard box. The cardboard box measures approximately 6" x 5 3/4" x 3 1/4" tall and is covered in a blue paper. The Pratt& Lambert sticker on the box is in nice condition. The box does have wear, tears and stains and is in solid, secure condition. Vintage Violin with Bow and Carrying Case, small advertising salesman sample
Hi. This is a charming little vintage salesman sample. Violin, Bow and Case, all in very good condition. Some wear to the back of the violin neck where it has been removed and put back in the case for showings. All the strings will tighten except for one which doesn't want to stay tight due to the turn being a little loose. The bow is in good condition with only minor wear. The case is very nice.closes tightly and is in good condition inside and out. Some rust on the hinges from age. The violin is 8 inches long and 2 3/4 inch at it's widest and weighs approx 2 oz. The bow is 8 3/4 inches long and the hard case measures 9 3/4 inches and 3 1/2 across at it's widest and weighs 7 oz. No makers mark that I can find. Antique Childs or Salesman Sample Wood Shaft Golf Club Transitional Driver
A fantastic miniature club 13" long with a 4" grip the head is 4 1/2" long x 1 3/4" wide with a 1" tall face. I believe that this was either a salesman's sample or was made by an apprentice as a test. The head is transitional in shape and was never played with(ha ha) It has a horn slip a bore thru socket shaft and the initals W. H. S. on the top. I think that the listing has been replaced and possibly the grip. It is in wonderful condition and possibly one of a kind. I have only ever seen one other of similar size and that was an FAO Schwartz splice. Wouldn't this look great next to the giant wood shaft driver I have for sale on ebay! B2160

I have been buy selling and collecting antique golf items for over 20 years and although I have seen Child's golf clubs and junior golf clubs. This is the first complete child's set, with the stove pipe bag, that I have seen. Spectacular 3 club set. Driver, Mashie and putting cleek all with hickory shafts and lambskin grips, the irons are smooth face. This set is made for Alex Taylor sporting goods store in New York City. These are from the early 1900's. The Shield with"T" in the center was first used by the company in 1915. The clubs are: Driver- horn slip held in place with 2 wooden pegs 22 1/4" long shaft. 7 1/2" grip head is 7/8" high face, 1 3/4" wide x 2 1/2" long wood with red stain and stamped"Alex Taylor" Mashie- 21" long with 7 1/2" grip smooth face head 1 1/8" ... morehigh x 2" long cleek mark stamped on back of head"22E. 42St. N.Y.C. Putting Cleek- slight loft obviously for use around the greens and as a putter. 18 1/2" long with 7 1/4" grip smooth face head 1 1/8" high x 2" long cleek mark stamped on back of head same as other iron. The bag is a Tweed Canvas bag with leather straps and lambskin ends. It is 18 3/4" long and 2 7/8" in diameter. It has a pocket with the Alex Taylor tag sewn onto the outer flap. AMAZING 1800S SALESMAN SAMPLE DOMED STEAMER TRUNK WITH ORIGINAL INSERTS- SCARCE!
THIS AMAZING VICTORIAN-ERA SALESMAN SAMPLE WAS DISCOVERED IN A LOCAL ESTATE. IT IS- BY ALL ACCOUNTS- A COMPLETE PERIOD EMBOSSED-TIN DOME STEAMER TRUNK. HOWEVER. IT IS FAR MORE THAN THAT. It represents an era long lost, and is both a piece of americana and a scarce early advertising/ display piece. It dates to the 1870s-1880s, and was made to scale, featuring every detail of a full-scale steamer trunk in a more compact package. A travelling salesman couldn't possibly drag a full-scale trunk from house-call to house-call, so a VERY SMALL NUMBER of these pieces were manufactured. They allowed the salesman to showcase the many features of the steamer trunk, and were constructed in the same fashion, using the same materials. A salesman sampler such as this was a far more effective bargaining tool than a pamphlet full of 2-dimensional photographs. ... moreIt allowed the customer to pick up and inspect the trunk, lift the lid, and get a better feel of what the full-sized trunk had to offer. it was meant to be taken on the road, and samplers were put through far more wear than the actual trunks they helped sell. VERY FEW STILL EXIST. One salesman sample was given to the salesman, and was shown and stored hundreds of times- selling hundreds of trunks- until it was too road-weary to showcase and retired/ thrown away. this particular example is in amazing condition considering age and usage. It has all of the inserts. Which still have bright colors and original lithography, as well as interior leather pulls. The original lining is complete and well preserved. The trunk has retained the entire outer, embossed-tin skin[a basket-weave pattern] and every wooden strap is present. The tin panels are free of rust or jags[curling/ sharp points] The top/ lid opens and closes smoothly, and the original hinges operate as they did 140-150 years ago. Most of the factory black hardware paint is intact. The bumpers/ corner brackets are all present, and every rivet/ nail is intact. It is quite rare to find such a complete example. It is not p
