The aspect that keeps it from being a true salesman sample is that it has only two burners on the right side instead of the typical four one would find on a full size stove. I believe that these were models of the full size stoves offered. Sold to, or ... moregiven to buyers of real Tappan stoves. The idea being that the child of the buyer would take it home, play with it, and bond with it and the Tappan name. When the time came for that child to be in the market for a real full size stove those fond memories would come back. antique doll trunk salesman sample Victorian chest circa 1890
Up for auction is a refinished antique doll trunk or salesman sample chest. This little trunk measures 15inches long by 8 inches deep and 8 inches high. There was no tray with this trunk when found but one was built for it out of oak and poplar. The trunk itself is made from pine and is metal bound. All the metal has been hand burnished but enough of the patina has been left to preserve the antique character of the piece. The lock is an Eagle lock and the latches function but are no longer spring loaded. The trunk has been refinished in a golden oak stain with multiple coats of sealer both inside and out. The original covering has been left on the underside to give a sense of the original look. The trunk is in overall good shape but because it is over 100 yrs old there are dings. Dents splits and cracks but these are minor and add to the ... moreoverall antique feel. It is a very well made solid little trunk that will last a lifetime if cared for. Up for bid is the vintage/antique WOOD SALESMAN'S SAMPLE VANITY DRESSER/ CHEST OF DRAWERS w/ MIRROR. As seen in the pictures/ as described in the title. Looks to be about 1/4 scale. Features a rotating mirror and(3) operable drawers(2 small at top, 1 large at bottom) Arts and Crafts style. Unsigned/no maker's mark(s) Exact age is unknown but I would venture to guess it is from the late 19th/early-to-mid 20th century. Found at an indoor flea market in Andover, N.J. in a booth that was filled with only amazing, old treasures) Made of a lightweight/low density variety of wood(perhaps oak, pine or alike) held together with both nails& screws(see pics) Stained dark brown with lovely patina. Excellent vintage condition with NO major defects whatsoever. Some small/light scratches(mostly to dresser top surface) and other very minor"blemishes" ... morethroughout. Structurally solid& sturdy. Sits flat with NO wobble. I cleaned the dust and smudges off the mirror BUT did nothing else. So aside from the mirror. It is being offered for sale AS-FOUND, uncleaned. Cosmetic condition is as clearly& accurately shown in the pictures. Please inspect all of them carefully. Measures 11-1/2" wide x 16" tall(overall) x 6-1/4" deep. Offered for auction is this wonderful piece of history in the advertising. Art and lithograph world! This brochure was put out by the, National Lithograph Company, in Detroit, Michigan in 1951. You could call it a salesman sample. It was once owned by an advertising executive and is promoting the new advanced lithography called, LITHO=KROME. I originally purchased this in 1999, since I am such a big fan of Elizabeth Taylor. You Can Juggle With Four Colors, shows new technology with colors and measures 9" by 12" with the photos a little smaller in size. The front cover is stained from age at the bottom right border. It was like that when I bought it and hasn't changed. It doesn't show on the inside cover. Great graphics on the cover of the juggler, merrily juggling 4 colorful balls. Front also has a received postmark with ... morea name on it. This includes some wonderful prints beginning with Elizabeth Taylor. Each of the four photos has. Lithographed in 4 colors, 133 line screen, by the Litho-Krome Process. The photos are back to back, for a total of 4 pages including covers. On the gorgeous lithograph of Liz, it also says, from ONE-SHOT COLOR CAMERA SEPARATIONS. Courtesy of Modern Screen Magazine for the upcoming, Father's Little Dividend. The next in this brochure is a huge, spread' of food from, STILL LIFE, DIRECT SEPARATIONS. Exhibit A& B. ITEM DESCRIPTION: This is one of my favorite items. Years ago. Back in the early 1980's I'd goto the various hamfests around the Charlotte, NC, area religiously. There was a guy, The" Vacuum Tube Guy, that always sat up there and had this little sample tube by his register. I dealt a lot in tubes at the time, and kept pestering him to sell me this as I like things that were rare and unique- he mentioned that people always wanted to buy it from him, and he refused, he's had it for years. Then one sale day he sold it to me, and I had it in my radio room as a prop ever since. Measures 2.25" tall. 1.75" across, it is my understanding this is a miniaturized version of a high voltage vacuum tube the company sold, a high voltage relay, that today is part number Gigavac G8, according to the Kilovac/Tyco high voltage relay ... morepart number cross reference to GIGAVAC part numbers, as I read it. It is primarily used for high voltage antenna, although it has found use with capacitor switching on high voltage power supplies, and a new(very different looking, ceramic, not glass) replacement part is $595.00. This was manufactured by High Vacuum Electronics. Later called Kilovac, later Tyco Electronics, and now TE Connectivity, founded by the famous duo Harry Boller and Clyde Chivens in 1964. A"miniature" casserole or covered bowl/ baking dish, I am not sure whether it was meant to be a piece of child's glass ovenware or was a salesman's sample. It is made just like the bigger pieces with an exterior ... morehorizontal ribbed design and pebbly bottom texture with raised ridges to help prevent it from sliding off counters, etc. The piece measures approximately 4 1/2" in diameter x 3" tall with the lid. The bowl alone is about 1 7/8" deep. This is an antique miniature 3 drawer chest. The top has 2 peg holes which may of been for a mirror. It is 8 in. high. 11 in. wide, 5 in. deep. The drawers are dove tailed& glued. I believe the wood is oak. The wood on the back has small bug holes. Overall it feels strong& sturdy. I bought this about 12 years ago at an auction. I have been using it on my desk.

What a unique box! It has a painted white cross. Crossed with caduceus all in a red circle. I am not sure what this symbol means or what this box was used for. It has some wear and may look much better after a good cleaning but I will leave that to the new owner. There is some paint and staining and also a small hole drilled in the lid- between the south west points on the cross- see photo 4. The box measures 14 x 9 x 5 inches.

These miniature"hope chests" were typically given away by furniture stores to girls nearing graduation from high school. This chest is made of cedar wood and measures approximately 9 inches long, 4 1/4 inches wide and 4 inches high. The Lane name and"Presented by John Tucker Furniture, Inc. are impressed into the underside of the lid. Most of the Lane label is still attached to the bottom of the chest. It has 4 felt cushions on the bottom. The hinges are in good condition and work well. It has a lock but I do not have the key. It has some ink stains in the bottom, a tiny dot of white paint on the front and rubs and nicks from use through the years. Old Wood Chest Box Handmade Primitive- Small Child's Doll Chest. Old Salesman Sample, Old Dowry Gift, Old Toy Box All wood with metal hinges and chain hardward. Obviously handmade- looks to me old wood dark stained shellac finish- looks like small version of an old cedar chest. Nice grain patterns! Top Inside has an inside piece that fits nicely pretty snuggly below top edge to provide a better seal when closed. Edges are simply finished rounded. Triangular cut pieces stack with metal stud make up dimensional feet design. Well-made and sturdy. As common with an older handmade piece. Does rock slightly when placed on flat counter, so not completely level, but hardly noticeable. Older hardware darkened with age. Looks like brass hinges with screws. We don't know if this piece was restored at some point, but everything does look like ... moreit originally belonged with this piece. We are not sure of the origin of this piece. It is not marked and appears to be uniquely handmade. It came from the estate of an old doll collector who used it for her doll displays and storage. We were told this was probably made at least c. 1940's/50's. But since there are no markings, we can't be sure of precise age. It comes as pictured as we found it. Very nice simple craftsmenship construction. See pictures. Old chain piece holds lid open. Sweet Old Wood Chest may have been made for a salesman sample. Primitive Doll Drop Leaf Table - Rare - Salesman Sample
This auction is for what I believe is a Salesman Sample drop leaf table. I have never seen a piece like this before. Measures 8 3/4" tall. 13 1/2" wide, and 14 1/2" with both sides up. This table does not have the original hinges and is missing a table anchor for one side(that keeps the leaf up) The other side is complete. Solid wood- not sure what kind. Very neat collector piece!

Normally, the name of the ice company would appear in the center of the sign. ICE SIGN PRINTED BY: George H. Jung Company. Cincinnati, Ohio. APPROXIMATE AGE: Believed to be from the 1930's. Thus approximately 73 years old. TYPE OF DOCUMENT: Residential window sign for ice delivery. GENERAL COLOR(S) Heavy card stock with yellow and black inks. The printed side actually has a glossy appearance- some sort of coating or waxing that appears to have been brushed or rolled on. MEASUREMENTS: 9" x 9" 22.9 cm x 22,9 cm) FOLDS: None. This black and yellow block ice sign includes the type's font size(24 Point) the font(Typeform) the sign's size(9" x 9" and their model number(No. 1100) ABOUT THE ICE SIGN: This is a block-ice sign. These types of signs were hung in the front window of homes and businesses prior to wide spread use of refrigeration/ refrigerators. The homeowner would hang this sign in their front window- so that when the iceman's horse and buggy pulled up. The delivery driver would know exactly how much ice to take to the door(it saved him the time of going to the door to inquire- which saved lots of time and steps over the course of a day) If the homeowner needed fifty pounds of ice(two 25-pound blocks) the sign would be turned so the 50 would be at the top and the sign placed in the window to inform the driver.
