Through dovetails on the front, and blind dovetails on the back. The blind dovetails on the back is a unusual feature, which requires more cabinetmaking skill than the standard dovetail. Super clean interior. With the original iron lock, key, hinges and brass escutcheon. This blanket chest is a wonderful size. 44" wide, 24" tall, 21" deep. Condition: Very fine clean condition. Minor dings and scratches. The right side lid back edge. This Roos chest was made in Forest Park. ... moreIL. The chest is made of Claro Walnut, Striped Walnut and Black Walnut. The inside of the chest is aromatic Red Cedar. The cedar chest is still quite aromatic, it has a special sealite lid to prevent the escape of the protective cedar fumes. The chest measures 47-1/4" long, it is 23" tall and 18-1/4" deep. It has a cedar tray on the inside which is 10" deep. The cedar chest is in excellent condition, the wood is rich and it gleams. On close inspection it shows a few vintage scuffs, mainly where the back edge would rub against the wall when opened, but nothing outstanding and it shows no abuse. The inside looks like new. There is a lock on the chest but I do not have a key. This chest comes from a smoke free and pet free home. It is clean and ready to use. Buyers are welcome to ask for other forms of payment. Local pick up is welcomed. I live in South Bend. Indiana close to Interstate 80. I would also be willing to deliver within 100 miles for a reasonable delivery fee. This is an antique genuine early 19th c grain painted pine Blanket Chest Box done in vivid flame dual central patterning on the ... morefront. Painted on the top and sides to match, with contrast trim and turned turnip leg foot in black for visual effect and balance. Please look at the pictures taken outside in natural sunlight at all angles. The paintwork is guaranteed original to the piece with no signs of touch up-an important part of valuation. Small crackle patch to one side stable just need to mention. Dimensions are large rectangular shape and measurements coming soon. Nice features include inside lift lid til box for small keep and original very clea hinges and front lock plate. But I do not have the original key. No staining to interior and nice old dry smell-no musty or mold contamination. As in past time, meant to store blankets and clothing before the days of generous closets in older farmsteads, but many people use these as coffee tables and recycling holders till collection day.
