THIS IS ONE OF THE NICEST BELLOWS YOU'LL EVER FINE. ALL HAND CARVED. Hand carved out of a hard wood. One side has the scallop shell and the other has a very ornate carving. It measures 19 11/2 inches long, 8 1/2 inches wide(wood side) and 8 1/2 inches wide with the bellows open. The leather has, at one time in it's life had the leather replaced, as the leather covers the bottom of the design on the ornate side. I have opened the leather so you can see it is still in good condition and the bellows WORKS! The carved ending is a puzzle to me and my husband. It has the traditional cuts just below the leather to indicate it is a bird, possibly a parrot. However, parrots do not have noses. It also looks like a dog or animal. Antique glass bottle. Was a present to my grandparent's wedding in 1916. Bottle is made of glass. It is translucent pink except for the"space" within the painted leave, which is tranparent and clear(I assume so you can see clearly its contents) My grandmother used it to serve her home made tangerine liqueur. It has been used just as decoration for the last 50+ years. It is decorated with painting of daisies and leaves. A superb Scottish silver cream jug fully hallmarked for Glasgow 1866 with a makers mark for J Muirhead and Sons. The cream jug is of very good quality weighing an impressive 178 grammes it measures approx 9.5 cms taken from the base to the tip of the spout. and has a diameter of 7.5 cms. The jug has a gorgeous period engraved pattern with a central cartouche which has been engraved with the owners name of Louisa Agnes Scott. The interior of the jug has been gilded always a sign of quality. The condition is excellent the hallmarks are crisp as are the engraved areas. Beautifully Refurbished German Guarneri 4/4 Violin For sale is a beautifully restored 100 year old German Guarneri Violin. This violin was originally crafted in West Germany. With a flamed mapel handcarved scroll. Internal blocking, figured maple back, spruce soundwood top, and properly offset soundpost, this violin sounds amazing. R ecently refurbished here in our lutherier shop. The original finish remains on this violin. It takes years for the soundwood in these classic violins to age and give you the mellow tones that a violinist is looking for. The sharpness has mellowed out of this vioin. The very high quality of Maple and Spruce give a fantastic resonance to this violin. Repairs made to this violin include the internal securing of two minor soundwood seperations. The seperations can be seen in the photos. The first is a repaired seam ... moreseperation located under the tailpiece and the second is a minor soundpost seperation. Neither repairs have affected the sound quality of this piece. For a violin of this age. Very few repairs have been made. The finish has been restored once in the past. The ribs show signs of the aging varnish being buffed. The soundwood top has the most beautiful dried oil varnish finish that I have seen. The thick varnish has left a finish that is only matched by an antique oil painting. Absolutely beautiful. The finish of the violin was buffed in 3 seperate stages and a hand buffed finish was applied. The original Shellac remains on this violin as do the scratches and minor dings that give this violin a time earned beautiful finish. The fittings were replaced with matching rosewood tailpiece. Pegs, and chinrest as well as a custom bridge. Nickel wound steel strings with brass rings complete the sound of this fine piece. Weight- 520 Grams. Antique Georgian gold and agate set brooch. Very finely made. Beautifully made.
Photographed is an exceptionally fine agate brooch dating to the very early 19th century. The mount has been tested for gold although of course is not marked. The workmanship is particularly fine with great attention to detail. The pin is silver. The catch and hinge are strong. The piece of agate chosen is full of interest and a great colour range, the photographs have not really done it justice; there is a little dip in the stone at the top left edge in the first photograph- I don't think that this is damage, I think it is just how it is. ITEM DESCRIPTION This auction is for a really nice quality antique violin for restoration. I am not a violin expert at all but I think it looks like a really nice instrument. Dating to around the later 19thC. It has a really striking figured two piece back which has a lovely colour and shine to it. The sides and neck also have the same figuring to the timber. No makers labels. Needs some work as there are some scattered small faults as per the images. There are a couple of splits to the top, the varnish needs work, some small scattered bumps and dings etc. The images are large and very clear and show everything far better than I can describe so please study them carefully as they are a visual condition report. Here we have a beautiful etched brass antique vinaigrette necklace with chain. These scent bottles on chains were worn by women in the 19th century to allow a discrete sniff to ward away the smells of the streets. Some were also used to revive women that had fainted due to their tight corsets. This one has a finely etched design. The screw cap works well and could hold your own perfume. Antique Trunk Beautifully Restored With New Tray & Six Patent Dates!
For sale today is a restored medium to large size metal clad steamer trunk and the restoration turned out just great. I found six patent dates on the trunk- April 1877 and March 1869 on the polished brass keyhole. March 1880 on the hardware, August 1882 and December 1882 on the inside of the lid and July 1872 on the latches which makes this great old humpback a 110 to 120 years old- a true antique. This trunk was in good solid condition when the restoration started. The bottom is solid and the metal has been painted. The trunk has the three original hinges which are heavy duty. Tight and work well. There are thirty plus pieces of polished original hardware. It still has has the original center lock which has been polished- no key. A new black leather lid lifter has been installed. The two original latches are there and one works and one does ... morenot. There are sixteen solid oak slats in a golden oak color on the trunk. This awesome old humpback has a custom made tray and the interior has been removed. All the metal is in VGC. It has four original metal wheels on the bottom and the trunk rolls easily. It still has the original lid stay and the lid closes well. Two new black leather handles were installed with new brass hardware. This awesome old humpback is 34.5W. 19D and 24H and weighs 46 lbs. This will be an oversize trunk when packed for shipping. The measurements for the trunk when packed and ready to ship will be 39W, 23D, 27H and will weigh 58 lbs. This will be an oversized package. This is a brass plate that measures 6.5" I've never seen a plate so intricately etched. It's absolutely stunning. I believe it could be of asian origin. But the decorative pattern could also be Indian. Regardless of origin, this antique plate would make for a wonderful display and conversation piece. This is a beautiful mourning locket from the victorian period. This would have been used to remember a departed loved one. The front and back(outside) of locket is plane and polished. But inside the locket there are lovely carvings. The outer rim of inside is also patterned. These engravings are all symbols of eternal rememberance. There is a photo of a victorian gentleman and the other side would probably have been used for a second photo or sample of hair. This is the most beautiful tapestry or sampler! I believe it is from the late 1800's or early 1900's. The piece measures 43" by 26 1/2" The backing is a soft yet very sturdy jute or burlap type fabric that is hand hemmed along the back. Please look carefully at all the photos. This is a SUPERIOR example of a totally professionally restored E Ingraham Mantle Clock in ALL ORIGINAL CONDITION. All the parts of this clock are original and have been restored beautifully. It was made in circa 1878 and looks pretty much like it did when it was new. It is a SUPER mantle clock in need of a warm loving home. Runs like new! It has a signed"E Ingraham Clock Co" 8 day time and strike movement which the half-hour and counts the hours on the hour on a gong. Also have an alarm movement and an alarm feature which sounds the alarm loudly on a brass bell. Retains its original thermometer which is working great! The movement runs very well and keeps good time. The movement was just cleaned. Oiled, pivots polished and bushings added where needed. This clock will not need servicing for many years to come. And is ready for the ... morenext 100 years! This is a labor intensive service, with many clockmakers charging 250.00 and up. We recommend having it oiled every 2 to 3 years to keep it in tip-top shape! With the purchase of this clock for an additional $ 2.25 we will include an oiler kit with a professional oiler loaded with enough oil to oil approximately 50 clocks with easy instructions so you could even do it yourself!
