They are as found; with some wear to the original finish on the wire and past paint on the cast iron. The wire hooks are 2-1/2 inches high including the screw end and 3-1/2 inches wide. The single cast iron hook is about 3 inches long overall with a countersunk opening for fastening. The double cast iron hook is about 2-1/2 x 2-1/2 inches with a threaded end for fastening. Antique Upright Wardrobe STEAMER TRUNK 1930's by the Anchor Luggage Company
This is an original steamer trunk that has been minimally restored to functioning condition. It has four drawers on one side of the interior and a closet to hang clothing on the other half. All four drawers have been restored. And lined with vintage magazine ad clippings to show the different eras. The wardrobe side is lined with world maps and also original newspaper clippings from the year 1942 showing classified ads for that era. The exterior has been stripped to the original wood then sanded and stained with varnish for a glossy finish. It is partially lined on the exterior with cowhide. A steamer trunk is a type of luggage which takes the shape of a large rugged trunk with a flat top. These trunks were built for long trips. Specifically on steam trains and boats; the flat top makes a steamer trunk easier to handle and stack. Many people ... morecontinue to use steamer trunks for travel and shipping today, and some people also keep a steamer trunk around the house for use as a storage chest. Steamer trunks are often found in vintage stores in varying conditions, and some companies also manufacture steamer trunks which can be purchased new from specialty luggage suppliers. The body of the steamer trunk is made from thick wood and metal. And it is strapped with metal and leather bands to ensure that it is extremely sturdy. A frame of metal is enclosed inside the steamer trunk so that it can endure heavy impacts and the weight of luggage stacked on top of it. Antique. Walnut, wardrobe. Beautiful piece. It is all walnut wood so it's quite heavy. Dated mid to late 1800's. it was in my grandparents living room for as long as I can remember. I am moving to a smaller home and I unfortunately don't have room at this time for the piece. American Federal Cupboard or Cabinet. Southern States, Probably Kentucky or Tennessee Early 19th Century c. 1820-40 Item# 130101QIP27 This is a striking piece in every regard. First and foremost. The sheer perfection found in the tight minimalistic landscape of this undistracted and restrained surface is unrivaled. Everything about the form is harmonious, the crown being distinctly angular and sharp, deep enough to cast a formidable shadow over the case while still remaining a small part of the form as a whole. The large case is cleanly divided into six parts by a craftsman clearly averse to using graduation in any portion of the piece. Using deeply chamfered panels set into rabbets in the through-tenon-mortise joined door frames, these opening easily over replaced brass hinges. Inside is a spacious shelved interior, again spaced at equal ... moreintervals with a large space for the bottommost shelf, avoiding the use of graduation. The effect is attractive, resulting in a stoic aesthetic so commonly associated with works of those states. On both left side doors. A tiny wooden catch is affixed to the inside of the door using a hand forged screw, allowing each of the doors to be locked shut; the opposite door has a small wooden knob external and a forged iron lock interior(absent on the lower door) the wooden knobs are likely purchased from a different shop or imported, as they appear to be of black walnut and the work of a skilled turner. They are, however, original to the piece and remain affixed with their original screws. The case is plain and devoid of embellishment. The sides single solid planks that stretch from the crest to the toe, the backboards vertically nailed in tight clean rows along both edges and the bottom. The crest is a separate piece screwed to the top of the case at equal intervals in deep wells. It is very difficult to make a well supported attribution to Tennessee; however, we feel fairly confident this piece originated in either Kentucky or Tennessee. This is a great little country oak two-door wardrobe. Which is small in size and perfect for all those customers who are asking us for something ... moreto store towels and clothing in on shelves. This one dates from the 1880s or‘90s, of simplistic design, and has two oak paneled doors, a dovetail drawer with fantastic solid brass hardware on the drawer base, a cutout bracket foot base, carved grooves going up both sides, and a little gingerbread applique on the top crown. The door opens to show a three-shelf interior, with some hooks on top for hanging hats, or you can just take the shelves out and use hangers. It’s been all shored up in back, as the pictures will show, with an X brace, to keep it all tight and square. It’s in its original oak stain finish, with a satin sheen clear-coat applied on top. There is some rippling on the left-hand door at about eye level, where the veneer has bubbled a bit. It’s not a big deal, but I wanted to mention it. The overall size is 42 inches wide, 16 inches deep, and 76 inches high, which is a really great size for those who always ask us for a smaller cupboard to put in the hallway by a bathroom. Up for your consideration is a vintage Multnomah of Portland Oregon Traveler's wardrobe. The picture make it look dirtier than it really is. Very sturdy but one of the clasps is missing. T he Eagle lock is not seized but will need a key. I nside the brackets for the hangers are in g reat condition as is the retainer. C omes with 3 original hangers. T he nesting compartments are not split and the original leather hinges and clasps are in nice condition. In retaining clas p on the bottom one is split. Officer's Wardrobe. Breaks down for ease in moving.
This;piece was used by military officers. This is the reason for the ability for the piece to break down for ease during relocation. It is a very functional piece of history. Can be used for storage while making a statement. The piece measures 71" tall. 80" long and 23" deep. All measurements are approximate. The piece does have some nicks and scratches do to the many times it has been moved in its lifetime. It gives it character; no major issues. I do not have the original keys for the locks. It should not be hard to locate some. I did not have a need to lock the cabinets. Item is for sale locally. I reserve the right to end this auction early.
