Antique Oak Stick & Ball Bentwood Two Panel Vanity Screen-NICE!!!
A very nice Victorian era oak bent wood stick and ball vanity. Dressing, or decor two panel screen. This wonderful C1890's folding style screen still has its original varnish finish-which is in very fine condtion. All of the metal connectors, washers, and screws are solid brass. Many of the connectors are stamped with the folowing: Pat. Feb. 16'92(1892) This vanity or bedroom screen is in exceptional condition. No broken, missing, or damaged sticks, balls, or spindles. No cracks in the bentwood sections. The metal rods that hold the cloth for the panels appear to be all original. They have a round metal ball on each end that fits perfectly into a round hole on the vertical oak dowels. The screen can be positioned at almost any angle, and folds neatly in half if desired. Bentwood or stick and ball furniture was only made for a short period of time in the late 1800's and early 1900's. This screen is a fine example of the wonderful workmanship of that era. Art Deco Style Oak Ball & Stick Coat/Hat & Umbrella Stand With Brass Hardware
We are pleased to offer this funky coat rack. This is done in the art deco style. There are no tags with a maker on this piece. We believe this is from the mid to late 40's possibly early 50's. The rack stands 62.56" high. The top has round balls for hanging hats. The balls are attached to three stick style wooden posts that end with matching ball feet. Near the top of the rack there is a large ball in the center of the tripod that holds the piece together. There are three hooks with backplates screwed through the poles and into the ball. The sides of the posts have brass hooks with decorative round scallop edge button backs. These are the pieces that run through the posts into the ball. Three quarters of the way down the rack there are hooks on each pole to hold a chain for the umbrella tray. This section of chain is missing. ... moreThere is a second row of hooks with chains attached to the base plate closer to the bottom. The umbrella plate sits at the base of the tripod. It is made from wood and has carvings and decorative brass accents on the outer rim. There are chains attched to the sides that connect to the hooks on the poles. There are age and use appropriate scratches dings and scuffs on this. Overall the condition on this is great. This is one of those unusual hard to find items that is sure to add an interesting and artistic presence to a foyer or corner. This is a previously owned item and it is being sold as shown. Charming antique quilt stand or rack. Classic Victorian stick-and-ball design. Beautifully bent dome shape at the top of each side. Two whimsically curved feet support the structure. Overall. The stand is in good estate condition. One rail is missing from the piece. For the most part the stand is sturdy, but it does wobble a little end to end. No wobble side to side. Some wear to feet. See pictures. Otherwise there is only light wear consistent with the piece's age. The rack stands 31" tall and is 23" long. The feet are each 12.5" wide. VERY Rare 1880s Antique Victorian STICK & BALL FOLDUP DAYBED Predates Murphy Bed
The first Murphy bed was introduced in 1918 but this foldup daybed was manufactured by the Kenesha Crib Company in the mid 1880s(the company only existed under this name between 1882 and 1892) It has a wood frame and metal mesh wire mattress holder plus and intricate iron mechanism which allows it to open and close. The wire mesh mattress holder has been reenforced with wire(a late addition) It has two arms at the top to allow for draping the head of the bed canopy style. There are some rods missing which are available for replacement but by and large the bed is stable and the iron mechanism is working perfectly. The company's emblem is on the top of the headboard. This is a very rare and collectable piece of furniture. This is a perfect bed for a child transitioning from a crib. The lace in the photos IS NOT included with the bed. SET TWO EARLY 20TH CENTURY HAND CRAFTED CHERRY STICK & BALL LAMP END SIDE TABLES
These two gorgeous early 20th century hand crafted cherry lamp tables or side tables with turned legs and ball feet came out of an old Charleston. SC estate where they were used together as a pair. Even though they are a bit different from each other, the woods and styles match, and they are close enough to certainly work in the same room, so I am offering them together. You can see these are both lovely pieces, sturdy and with a second shelf below which also serves as a stretcher for the legs. I've included a number of photographs in an attempt to accurately represent the design, quality, condition, construction and overall beauty of these fabulous old tables. The first of these two table stands 29 1/2 inches tall and it's table top is a single board measuring 16 3/4 inches by 16 1/4 inches. With carved edge trim. Antique Fireplace Dentist MANTLE Stick Ball VICTORIAN Mirror Drawers Cabinet
This is one of the most impressive mantle's I've had. At first I thought it was primitive but it's definitely Victorian and called Stick& Ball. It was for a drafting firm. Dentist office or school house as the little drawers have pencil/utility trays. Which I've photographed for you. It's actually 2 pieces. The bottom is a standard mantle front which we added a little interior lip to b/c our fireplace was a bit smaller. So you can fashion this around various sized fireplaces. The top section is a topper that sits on top and will need to be bolted/ affixed to the wall and rests on the mantle-top. The entire piece you are seeing here is 66" wide and 68" tall from the ground to the top ball on either corner. I see no detrimental damage to it whatsoever. It's clean and lovely. This a great looking etagere from the 1800s. It has four shelves and is made of oak. With brass accents and a mirror. Measures 52" tall x 17-1/2" wide x 12-1/2" deep. The stained and varnished scroll-sawed back is of plywood and does not appear to be original to the piece. It is nailed to the back edge of the shelves and could be removed. This item is in very good condition for its age, although with any piece of antique furniture, it does have some small flaws, such as nicks, scratches, etc. While this etagere is not particularly heavy. This item is a very nice English Hobnail Ivy Ball with 2 Candle Stick Holders. Made by Westmoreland. Mark on the bottom of the base W very faint and you have to hold them to the light so that you can see it clearly. The Ivy Ball is 6 3/4 inches tall and 4 1/2 inches wide. The 2 Candle Stick Holders are 4 3/4 inches tall and 3 3/4 inches wide. In 1937. The company changed hands from the West family to the hands of the Brainards. In the 1940s. The Brainards phased out the high quality hand-decorated glass and began to mass produce Milk Glass. The Brainards then sold the company in 1980 to David Grossman. A St. Louis businessman who did not have any prior experience with Westmoreland. As a result. The company went out of business in 1984. This item does have wear from age and use. The Ivy Ball has a rough spot on the side of the Base hardly ... morenoticeable. These items are in very nice Condition. This has great pressed panels in walnut of birds floral musical instruments etc. There are three beveled mirrors. one is 17 1/2 wide, 9 1/2 ins tall. The two smaller ones are 6x6 ins. Here is what is fun. In a lifetime of being in the business. I have never owned, where the flat surface would be frosted and have hand painted birds on the front of the mirror. In the top, you have two more panels that are felt,these panels are great as well with hand painted birds. All pullouts or stops are made of porcelain. We are pleased to offer to the market this beautiful antique fireplace mantle. This piece has great character and dates to the Victorian era. This piece measures 82" High x 60 3/16" at the widest point and it has a depth of 10.5" The mantle back has the main center mirror flanked by two smaller mirrors with shelves on the sides. The front of the mirror has turned& reeded columns holding a shelf above it. There are attached cornice pieces above the two smaller mirrored sections that are topped with a stick& ball design. This same design is also found on the crest at the top center of the mantle. There are hand carved medallions and curliques on this piece as well. This is a gorgeous mantle that will definately make a statement in a room. There are age and use appropriate scratches. Dings, divets, cracks, repairs, and ... moreother marks on this piece. There are issues with the finish as well from being stored. Structurally the piece is solid and sound with no rot or losseness. It does appear that someone at some point had done some gluing on this. There is one ball on the top section that moves up and down also. It aopears that there have also been a few small pieces replaced on this as well. Vintage Native American Stick-ball game sticks, hand crafted by Seminole
Vintage pair of Native American Indian stick-ball game sticks. Stick-ball is a traditional game similar to Lacrosse. It is played by several Native American Indian groups mostly across the south-east United States from Okla to Florida.This is a pair bought circa. 1958. I am unsure if it was bought in Florida or possibly in Oklahoma. They are a little over 50 years old. Hand made of local materials and decorated more as tourist items rather than for actual game playing. Some of the rawhide lacing has broken in the scoop area and the cloth patchwork has some slight fading and worn, frayed edges. Still it is in overall good shape considering it's age. It would make a beautiful display on the wall of a game room or in a display cabinet with other artifacts of Native life. The Seminole Indians do some beautiful patchwork with fabrics making ... moreshirts and dresses. The handles show some of that handicraft. The sizes of the pair are different as one is larger than the other. The largest is 35 inches length by 3 1/4 inch scoop. The smaller is 33 inch length with a 2 1/2 inch scoop. I am unsure what kind of wood is used to make these but it is one piece that is bent over to make the scoops and then lashed together. Antique 1893 Arts & Crafts Oak Ball & Stick Fireplace Mantle w/Tile & Cast Iron
Up for auction is one of the nicest Victorian Arts& Crafts ball& stick fireplace mantles I have ever come across. This mantle is marked 1893 and is made of gorgeous golden oak. This appears to be a complete fireplace mantle and surround pulled out as a whole. The salvaged tiles have wear marks that exactly match the wood surround and the same is for the cast iron fireplace cover. Everything matches up beautifully forming a complete mantle surround as it looking in what must have been an incredible Victorian. This is a rare surround from a short Arts& Crafts period and has wonderful details such as spiderwebs in the cast iron. And detailed leaves carved in the oak. There is a lot to see and describe and it is of the finest hand carving done at that period. This is a ball& stick design with turned spools and an upper and lower ... moregalleries. There are three shelves and a wonderful beveled mirror that fits perfectly and was professionally installed. The tile is a celery green and has cracks from removal but has been wonderfully mounted on a hard backer and is ready to install. This mantle would be a fairly easy project for a builder to manage. Every spool is original to the mantle and the refinishing done to it is a professional job. This is very similar to what it must have looked like new. Clean bright oak with wonderful carved details easily seen without age darkened shellacks that turn Victorian oak a blackish brown and suck the life out of the wood and the room. This is cheerfully celebrating the skill of 1800's craftsmen at the peak of their talent. Lastly. The cast iron fireplace frame and removeable cover is absolutely stunning. It has a hearth scene with a man sits with is dog and his pipe. To his right is a wife pouring water from a jug. At the bottom appear to be scene of children playing on wagons. Up for Auction I have an Antique Victorian Fretwork Wood Gingerbread Stick and Ball Spandrel Arch. I was told that it was taken out of an old bank that was in business in the mid to late 1800's. It was part of the fancy Tellers window. It does come in two sections and each section can stay stationary or swing from side to side. The wood is Oak. Best used at the top section of a double cased opening. Will add such charactor and charm to any decor. There is some slight damage to the piece if you look at pictures 5& 6 one small ball is missing and a few sticks have been glued back onto arch. If you look at the over all picture. It is not very obvious due to the busy pattern. I never expect a piece of this age to be perfect. It also looks to me like one of the sticks has been replaced in picture 4. This auction is for a beautiful antique oak hanging shelf in the ball& stick style. From my personal collection. The side"sticks" and one ball seem to be maple. The frame for the beveled mirror is oak and most of the rest. Beautiful and lovely vintage condition with hangers in place; no work required. Just put into place. A teeny bit of water discoloration in beveled mirror, 1/2" x 1.5" or so, barely noticeable but must mention for accuracy. About 5" deep and 20" long for shelf size. Height of side"sticks" is 9.5" to underside of shelf top. Sweet and dainty; original purchased in Texas antique mall some 20+ years back.

This is a wonderful tiger-sawn oak stick and ball turn of the century Victorian age rocker in its original condition with a carved splat ... moreback dating from the early 1900’s. Beaded front and in a dark oak stain. It has an 8-inch high carved back, then a 5-inch-high stick and ball section, then another carved piece that is 4 inches high, then the splats that are 11 inches high and the space from the seat up to the first board top is 8 inches high. This is a very, very tall backed rocker, and if you’re the type of person who likes your head to rest on the back of your rocker, this is the chair for you. The arms are all solid oak with big oak balls on the end measuring 3 inches across. There is dainty beading across the front, and it has been reupholstered at some point in nice dark suede fabric that is in really good shape. It also has all solid oak rockers, and has been all tightened up and is ready to go.
