Stand is in very nice shape but does show normal age appropriate wear- some scuffs/scratches in the finish, one area(shown in pic) on one leg where the finish has been scratched, and it does appear that a repair has been made on one of the top pieces(shown in last picture) Originally thought it was a scratch until further inspection- honestly don't think it is noticable. The rest appears to be all original finish, and worn areas can be seen in the finish especially on the top. This stand has 4'sections' in it. Each of the four legs are surrounded with brass coverings. Canes shown for display only and are not included. I believe there would have originally been a drip tray with this but is missing. Style is like thick wire or rods and I think it looks pretty 70’s. Stands about 22” tall with its general shape at 11”x9” Stands solid. No wobble. Some areas of the metal has light oxidation or speckle, but its not very noticeable while in use. Take gold spray paint and spray it as a puddle into a cloth or wad of paper towels and rub over this to rejuvenate the current color or to change the color. The rods, base, and handle are a brassy steel with brass leaves attached to it. It is in fair condition with all the characteristics of scratches from use and it shows it's age with tarnish. It stands 30" tall from the base to the top of the handle. The opening to place the umbrellas in is 9" in diameter. The base is also 9" in diameter. Antique-Vintage English Leather-Covered Double Cordite Carrier-Umbrella Stand
Up for sale is this old English leather-covered double-barrel cordite carrier which can also be used as an umbrella/cane stand. As you can see in the pictures. It is hand painted with two mirror image English coats-of-arms. It also has some fine gold painted bands, one on the top and four around the body. One of the local antique dealers dated it from 1910-1930. The two barrels are connected on the top and bottom with two slotted screws. Washers, and hex nuts. The 35-inch arched cane wooden handle is also connected in a similar fashion. I have done some research on these and have found that they are the style and size of cordite carriers used by the English armed forces back since before 1900. Take the time to Google"cordite carriers" and check out the ones that are for sale on other sites and their histories. There are seven or ... moreeight. But none as nice as this. The heighth of this stand is 17 1/2" Each barrel has an inside diameter of just under 6" With the total width of the piece being 16" and about 8" front to back. It weighs a little under 11 pounds. On the bottom of this piece it is stenciled"DANBY" There is a town in England named Danby. But I don't know if this lettering signifies the town name or the company that made it. Also on the bottom there are hollowed-out balls welded to screws that the piece stands on. I have never seen anything like these. One of the six balls is missing but that does not keep the piece from standing steadily. The inside cardboard walls concerned me as to its age. But I found out that the process to make cardboard and paper tubing was invented and patented on November 29, 1887 by a man named Charles Sumner Tainter. Since then tubing has been used in hundreds of applications, including the building of building columns. If you have any questions that I have not answered here. Made of wrought iron. It was used as an umbrella stand on the front parch and does show some effects of its exposure to the weather. There are no cracks or dents in the metal. The botto m plate which is removable does have missing paint. Please see the pictures. Since this is metal. A repaint job would make it as good as new if you so desired. Vintage medium To Small Size Oak Walking Stick Umbrella Stand From Scotland
This auction is for a vintage Oak Walking Stick Umbrella Stand from Scotland. It's what I would call a meduim to small size stand. It could go into any foyer or entry as well a mud room and even in the den- family room area as well as any office. It's made out of oak and the oak is still solid and sound without any rot or worm damage. It came without the original drip pan and has an oak veneer bottom. It has cute bun style feet and it's a little fanicier made than most with a hald-mold trim on top of all of the braces and a unique cut or beveling to the sides of each leg post. It's 14 3/4" X 12 1/4" and 24 5/8" tall. The base or bottom is 4" off the floor and it's 19 3/4" from the top rail to the bottom. It has some blemishes to the finish(light or dark spots or marks) to the tops as well as some ... morenicks. Dings and scratches. The finish looks original to the unit. Vintage Mid Century Dorthy Thorpe Lucite Spiral Umbrella Stand Eames Era 1950's
This is a wonderful vintage(1950's) clear lucite umbrella stand designed by Dorthy Thorpe. The piece stands 23" tall. Is 12" wide at the base and 7" wide at the top. The reflection of the camera flash makes the bottom swirl look shinny. These stands are usually much more yellowed. This one is very nice, in excellent vintage condition and the starting bid price is great! The light will be wrapped very well and insured for safe delivery.
