This is a magnificent antique wardrobe/armoire/closet made by Gullachsens of Newcastle on Tyne. It is very large: 69" wide x 22" deep x 82.5" tall! The two side doors have a beautiful inlaid wood design. The center door has a full length beveled mirror. The left& center cabinet doors open to reveal a pole& hooks for hanging clothes. The right door opens to built in shelves. It has the original locks. But I do not have the key. I believe any skeleton key would work. It was made by Gullaschsen of Newcastle on Tyne in England. Impressive Louis XV mahogany armoire or wardrobe. This large piece has tons of storage space behind its three doors. Mirrors with bevelled edges and ornately carved wooden panels give this piece an amazing decorative look. A gracefully curved top is capped by an intricately carved finial. Skirted fronts and short cabriole legs lift it off the ground and keep the armoire from feeling heavy despite its size. This piece can be dismantled for moving. Overall. The armoire is in good condition. The two side mirrors have some noticable silver loss. Example pictured. There are also some small dents and dings to the wood. As expected for an all original Tourobe of its age there is also some scuffing on the exterior. Inside still looks great and has the original hangers. Three for suits and three for pants, internal straps are complete. The case has two sections, a hanging wardrobe on one side which has a velvet covered pad to protect the suits and fastens with two sets of stud buttons holding the clothes in place. For Auction: Antique 1930s Henry Likly Full Size Steamer Wardrobe Trunk. It is an unusual design. Half of the front door opens. And a leg pops open to hold it up. When you close it, the leg closes up. The leg appears that it needs a little maintenance as it needs a helping hand to close it up. It is difficult to close the trunk completely. It can be closed. But you have to fight it a little. There is no key. The lock does not lock. It appears that it may be missing the top to the drawer section. But I am not sure. The base is 22" by 23" by about 40" tall. Here is what an expert told me about the trunk: Manufacturer: Henry Likly. The Henry Likly Trunk Company was established in 1844 as A.R. T.H. Pritchard. Upon graduating from school Henry Likly took an apprenticeship with A.R& T.H.Pritchard and mastered his trade in the ... moretrunk manufacturing industry.In January of 1868 Mr. Likly was given a partnership in the company. The company then became A.R. T.H. Pritchard& Company. Three years later it became A.R. Pritchard& Likly.When Henry Likly and his brother in-law became the sole proprietors of the business the name was changed to Henry Likly& Company. This was the name from 1870 when A.R. Pritchard retired until 1925 when it simply became"Likly's"As far as I can tell the company was ran by his children after his death in 1897. In New York State the Henry Likly trunk company was the largest factory of its time. Located at 340 Lyell Ave in Rochester N.Y. the factory covered two acres of land. This is an absolutely gorgeous piece with that perfectly-distressed french cottage look. The wardrobe stands on square back legs and small queen ann style cabriole front legs with a carved frill between. There are two doors eitherside one slightly larger centre door with each door having a smaller bottom panel and larger top panel.
