Antique-Vintage English Leather-Covered Double Cordite Carrier-Umbrella Stand
Up for sale is this old English leather-covered double-barrel cordite carrier which can also be used as an umbrella/cane stand. As you can see in the pictures. It is hand painted with two mirror image English coats-of-arms. It also has some fine gold painted bands, one on the top and four around the body. One of the local antique dealers dated it from 1910-1930. The two barrels are connected on the top and bottom with two slotted screws. Washers, and hex nuts. The 35-inch arched cane wooden handle is also connected in a similar fashion. I have done some research on these and have found that they are the style and size of cordite carriers used by the English armed forces back since before 1900. Take the time to Google"cordite carriers" and check out the ones that are for sale on other sites and their histories. There are seven or ... moreeight. But none as nice as this. The heighth of this stand is 17 1/2" Each barrel has an inside diameter of just under 6" With the total width of the piece being 16" and about 8" front to back. It weighs a little under 11 pounds. On the bottom of this piece it is stenciled"DANBY" There is a town in England named Danby. But I don't know if this lettering signifies the town name or the company that made it. Also on the bottom there are hollowed-out balls welded to screws that the piece stands on. I have never seen anything like these. One of the six balls is missing but that does not keep the piece from standing steadily. The inside cardboard walls concerned me as to its age. But I found out that the process to make cardboard and paper tubing was invented and patented on November 29, 1887 by a man named Charles Sumner Tainter. Since then tubing has been used in hundreds of applications, including the building of building columns. If you have any questions that I have not answered here. ANTIQUE AMERICAN COUNTRY/WOOD UMBRELLA/CANE STAND ~ c. 1915
This is an old handmade wooden umbrella stand. It is a six sided cylinder(hexagon) with hand cut ear handles and a hexagonal base. The buttressed base is similar to that seen in arts& crafts pieces of the time. The umbrella stand is approx. 26 ¾” in height with a base diameter of 9 ½” The top diameter measures 6 ¼” The stand weighs approximately 8 lbs. The paint appears to be original and was once white which has since become an off white or even ivory over time. We haven’t the slightest idea of who made this piece but someone has used and preserved it and it has passed down several generations. Since this was used it bears the usual age dings. Some of the paint has crackle but the paint is stable and not flaking. The stand has no repairs that we can see. It probably graced the front porch or mud room of some modest country ... morehome. The piece is incredibly ornate with all the details of classic victorian furniture. The piece is in very good clean condition and includes the cast iron scalloped umbrella drip trays. There is a small piece of veneer missing on the very top of the capital mold and a few cracks in the veneer. The capitol piece at the very top needs some restoration as the ends of the flowing skirt on the front and left side are broken off. This is one of the nicest pieces I have seen. The Umbrella Stand is very large as it stands 21 1/2" tall and is 10 1/2" in diameter. The opening has a diameter of 9 1/4" The Umbrellas Stand has a beautiful gloss Glaze with wonderful Blending of Green and Brown Earth tone colors. The Stand displays several very realistic looking Apples in an apple tree. The Apples are hanging from Branches and are Ripe. Plump and some are ready for picking. The leaves have very nice coloring in them as well and appear to be Macintosh Apples as they have areas of Red and Green. This pattern is repeated on the back side as well. The Umbrella Stand is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks. Nicks, ... morechips or dings. There is a couple of Glaze misses on the top rim. One area has more glaze missing than the other. This Umbrella Stand when flicked with your finger Rings like Fine Crystal. We are pleased to offer this very ornate. Pre 1900, antique brass umbrella stand. This lovely entry hall stand features a footed base fashioned as an inverted umbrella/parasol. It has 6 sections and is done in an all over hammered brass design. In each section are ornate, embossed floral bouquets. The column is also brass and is ribbed. The top of this stand is quite ornate with curved brass. There are two dolphin or dragons in the center of the curvature. The creatures mirror one another. They have eyes and curved bodies. From their heads comes the curved handle. The stand has five large circular holders. Each holder measures approximate 2.6" in diameter and will hold more than one umbrella. Antique Majolica Green Glazed Cathedral Window Art Pottery #61 Umbrella Stand
Up for auction is this fantastic umbrella stand. It is made of a pottery with a majolica green glaze on top. The only marking is the number 61 on the bottom. I am not sure it was made by Weller. Roseville, McCoy or who. The piece is done in a greens and has a cathedral window design in the middle. The umbrella stand measures 23" tall and is about 10" in diameter. It is in great condition with the only damage that I can see being a small chip on the inside top of the stand(see picture) This is a gorgeous piece that should not be overlooked. These large pieces do not come to market that often and when they do they are usually pretty damaged. All this equipment is in very good shape. I purchased this new and have probably only used it a dozen times. after I purchased it I started doing mostly outdoor shooting) As you would expect with Profoto everything is very well built and made to last. The pack is nice and small. About 7.5"x7.5"x5" and only weighs 8 pounds. It's fits easily with the two heads into the case shown in the pictures, it's a very portable system. Here are the details on what is included. Profoto Acute 1200 e power pack. The"e" in the model name is very important. I'm not sure that they make this pack anymore but at the time I purchased it this was the entry level Profoto system. They are still made and designed to Profoto's high quality standards. The pack has a built in slave so you don't need an external slave when ... moreusing with other strobes. I'm not sure about compatibility with other Profoto heads. 2 Profoto Acute e heads with reflectors. The heads are also in great shape and both have working modeling lights and reflectors. These heads do not have fans so you cannot use the really bright modeling lights that the pro heads come with. They will work with all the profoto accessories and produce a nice consistent light source. The reflectors are also nice because they slide on the head so they can be wide or slightly snooted. 1 White Profoto umbrella. 28" diameter. 1 Profoto Light Stand. Power cord and Sync cord.
