The shaped beveled mirror is original, hence there are a few spots and streaks, but doesn't detract from the looks. Total width, including umbrella holder, is 39" depth is 18" height is 80-1/2" We have not refinished this hall tree, the finish appears to be original and is quite good, the piece is structurally strong as well. Giving the hall tree a very Jacobean look are some small geometric wood decorations throughout. The seat lifts up to reveal a small storage space below. There are 6 Coat, Cap Hooks, the two on top are Butterfly Hooks( unusual& rare) see picture 5, I have never seen these before or after we got this one) I don't know if they were on the Hall Tree from day one or if someone added them later, they are old and they compliment the attractive decorative carvings on top, plus they do match the cutout pattern above the seat perfectly.see picture 3) The Bench Seat has storage space under the lid. The piece is characterized as having Hand carved scrolling work along the top and throughout with what looks like a horse shoe type motif in the center above the seat. The one issue with the chair is a missing section of wood on the front leg. This is not the result of a break but is a seam where two boards were joined. It appears that the glue failed and the piece was lost. A repair is very possible and would likely be invisible if done skillfully. Pictured is a highly carved oak mirrored door. Claw, paw foot ice box in as found condition. The carvings were hand made by victorian craftsman who worked for the belding Hall company. All carvings are in great condition and highly detailed. The ice box was made of very solid oak and weighs about 125 lbs. It has a full one inch bevel around the mirror. There is carved egg and dart trim all around the mirror. Below the mirror is a shelf that is curved. Please look at the photos below to see the other special cravings. It is missing the molding on the left bottom side. This would look great in a jewelry/ clothing store. Or in the foyer to any large building or home. This was found in southern Iowa in a 100 year old clothing store, stored upstairs in what was originally a funeral parlor/ furniture store. When those horses were replaced by mechanised vehicles in the 1950s, the mill finally closed.
