This auction is for a very old candle/plant stand. It is from the 1800's. It has been in my family for many generations. I am not sure if it is walnut or mahogany. I was told it was walnut but just not sure how to tell. The photos show the condition of the stand. You can see on the top and the bottom of the top piece. It does come off and you can glue it permantly if you like. When I ship it I will wrap the round piece off of the stand and that will protect it better. I just left it as is. The top piece has some seperation in the wood and you can see on the bottom where it has been held together with old clips. It has a little area where the wood is chipped on the bottom rim. Up for auction this week we have a beautiful early Mahogany Basin Stand circa 1890. This piece has great form and a very nice aged mellow patina. There is one old repair on one of the legs but it is tight and solid and does not effect the way it stands. There are the usual distress marks that come with a piece this age. But overall it is in excellent condition and a real beauty. I'm not really sure about the age of this piece. It very well may be anywhere from the mid 1800's to around the turn of the century. New green straps; make the tray higher by shortening the straps. Condition is very good. The feet of the stand show about a quarter inch of wear that may be old water damage. There is a small piece of veneer missing on the very top of the capital mold and a few cracks in the veneer. Antique mahogany? pie or cake folding stand table. I believe this to be mahognay. It measures 30 inches tall and features three tiers of shelves to hold pies or cakes. The individual tiers measure 8-1/4 by 10 inches in diameter and have an inner circle of wood to hold pastry in place. Features 4 dowel type legs and folds to fit flat against wall. In good condition for it's age with no damage. A beautiful antique pie stand. All items come from a smoke free home. It is 11 inches high and is in very good condition, with no splits or chips and is of very good colour. The base is covered with a green felt, faded with age. It has no stamped or engraved marks.
