Stunning Original Black Forest Carved Bears Hall Tree Umbrella Stand
Selling for a estate this great almost 8 foot Black Forest carved bear and cubs hall tree umbrella stand. This comes in 3 parts top and bottom and the tail that holds the umbrellas comes off as well. It has age cracks in the wood as you can see in the photos. The hand carving is excellent and this one is a little different as it has 2 baby bear cubs playing at the top. Probably late 1800's and from Germany or Switzerland. The color of the wood is a wonderful warm brown. This is real and old and just an outstanding example.

The original huge beveled mirror is in excellent condition.the turned posts which are the basis for the mirror frame and the entire top of the piece. The umbrella pans are original and instead of being"hole" when one pulls these out.there are actually finished specific areas for the pans. Pretty neat. Secondary wd appears to be all oak and the hardware is all original except for two replaced screws. Measures about 28" wide, and approximately 15" deep. I believe this is likely mid 19th Century based on comparable hall trees I have researched. Very heavy, heavy piece, parts of it do come apart- mainly the coat/clothes hooks, and the top piece. There is a separate umbrella tray that comes out. The mirror rotates and is on a ball joint. Beautiful design appears to represent flowing branches, leaves, and flowers and at the top of the mirror a beautiful eagle. Up for auction is an absolutely gorgeous antique 1800's High End Eastlake mahogany halltree marked M&N Schrenkeison. New York. This halltree is heavily pierce carved in thick solid mahogany. There are also wonderful spoon carved details in burl walnut and around the piece. Heavy cast iron umbrella cups sit at the bottom in beveled edge carved trays. The hat or gloves top is high end gray speckled marble that looks original. There are six spool carved coat hooks and a beautiful beveled glass mirror in excellent condition. This was given to me by a good friend who couldn't fit it in her home after she inherited it. I do not have the space for it now. It is in good condition. But has a few flaws. The quality of the wood is amazing. The drip pans are iron and a beautiful shell design. There are a few flaws which are in the pictures. tiny chip in marble top. missing left side bar which holds umbrellas. It is a clean cut. Must have come loose and then unfortunately lost. Bottom of glove box is missing a bar under it to hold up the drawer. Easy fix. Mirror was removed during transport. In very good condition though. Email any questions. I am negotiable. I have a barn find from my great grandmothers estate. This is a amazing beautiful piece. It is a umbrella stand that has mirror and is very unique. The wood is a hard wood and darker color. There is a hook missing. The mirror needs polishing. There is a custom piece of wood to cover drawer. The drawer needs to be sanded inside it will not open. I believe there used to be marble on top of drawer. This is in great overall condition fot its age. I am not sure of age however. Will polish up great and clean. Look at pictures.
