This gorgeous Walnut Victorian Renaissance Revival Period Marble Top Hall Tree is adorned with a magnificent incised and dimensionally carved spade and scroll center crown with carved center shield along with elegant drapes and a fancy pediment that consists of crown moulding. Along with raised burl panel accents. The shoulder area beneath the crown is graced with fully turned drop finials. The mirror is framed in beautiful moulding. One individual has bottom trim and ornate see-through fretwork. The other single has top and bottom trim with carved center crest. They all have gothic flair. May be made of walnut, but not positive. Dates from the 1930s–40s. This appears to be all solid mahogany. This has breadboard ends to support the drop down lid. Drop the lid down to expose a wonderful detailed interior that consists of multiple drawers and multiple cubbyholes. A carved raised panel center door and two cleverly disguised hidden compartments behind flame finial spindles. The writing surface is really large There are some nicks and dings due to use and age of the piece. The four drawers underneath the writing surface are all dovetail and all oxbow. Or serpentine, front. They retain the original Chippendale-style handles. It’s all finished off with four detailed ball-and-claw feet. The original ... morekey is included. This Berkey& Gay dining set consists of a 3-leaf table. 8 chairs, 1 china hutch, 1 buffet and 1 sideboard. It is made of walnut, with many sections being bookmatched figured walnut- absolutely beautiful. All pieces are matching, and feature the metal medallion used in Berkey& Gay's furniture from the 1920's-1940's. Our best guess is that these pieces were made in the 20's. They're in excellent condition for this vintage. You'll see some very slight damage, shown in the last 4 photos. The first label was branded into the wood and can often be found inside the drawers of the Berkey& Gay case pieces. Around the year 1900 the branded type label was replaced by a paper label. The brass label was used starting around the 1920's until Berkey and Gay went out of business in the 1940's. Please note that it is not uncommon to find both brass and paper labels used during the same era. Especially on dining room suites where the Berkey& Gay paper labels were quite often used to mark the dining chairs. Condition Good Pre-owned with use and wear including some stable cracks to the pine seat located on the top and bottom which are distinct from one another and do not meet. The leg ends protrude slightly above the seat where they are thru tenoned. The seat has finish wear and scratches with a small saw mark on the left side middle of the seat(viewed from the front where the seat narrows) And there is some green paint on a leg as pictured. The flower stand is a particularly good piece. Pictures. Vases and ornaments are of the eighteenth century. The white satin taffeta window draperies are in a design typical of the period and are edged with rose fringing. Loaned by Au Paradis, Inc. The second picture shows dining ... moreroom furniture from an old house in Christiana, Delaware. A mahogany Sheraton table is used with painted beechwood Sheraton chairs and a bureau, desk and tilt top table of the time. The Spode china is one fo teh two first sets of this type brought to America(1820-1830) the other being owned by Girard College. Loaned by Mrs. Edward A. Brion. The last picture shows a display of rosewood furniture made in 1850 for the Chicago parlor of William H. Brown, loaned by his granddaughter. The chair upholstering and draperies are of green brocade and the table cover is scarlet broadcloth embroidered in gold. The mirror was made in 1822 and, while of an earlier period, combines excellently with this furniture. Loaned by Miss Caroline D. Tyler. CONDITION This 81+ year old Item is rated Very Fine +++.
