This is one of those delightful long rectangular handled trays. Decorated with delicately engraved peacocks among leafy scrolls against a black enamel background,details enhanced in blue and red. This is a very elegant trumpet-shaped vase with frilly mouth and globular lower body. The main decoration consists of menacingly bewhiskered men with swords. Among scrolling foliage.all done in clear and lively repousse. The negative side is that it once had handles, which have been removed(and I'm sure the item is the better for it! This brass plate in fine guage metal has at the centre an ornately caparisoned elephant with an elaborate beflagged howdah. Accompanying the animal are two men carrying standards each bearing a large human face. This composition is enriched with overlay in silver and copper. Similar overlay to surrounding band of triangular floral fields. Also in small panels on rim. All present in excellent undamaged condition. South India(Tanjore? or maybe Ceylon, Sri Lanka. This is a heavy cast brass bowl. Decorated with wonderful scrolling leaves against a background of black enamel or mastic. The base is rounded, and to the centre of the outer base can be seen a circular area of slightly different metal, see photo 2) which often occurs on bowls of this type. You are bidding on an antique brass pocket compass. It measures over 1.5" across. There are no maker's marks that I could find. The glass is a little spotty as you can see in the pics. I am not certain. But it appears that the numbers and arrows have been hand-etched or engraved. The item is in antique used condition. It appears that there is a tab missing from the piece that does the temporary stop on the compass. The compass lock, however, is in perfect working order. Please look closely at pics. ANTIQUE STEAM ENGINE BRASS FLYBALL FOR GOVERNOR?
This came for a old farm estate. I beleive it is a type of flyball for a steamengine's governor. It is solid brass with a metal spindle. The flyballs go up and down with centrifugal force. They are atteched to jointed arms that are connected to a lower main brass piece that the spindle slides through. This main piece does not move up or down and I'm not sure if it even should. And if so it is possible that it is frozen on the spindle because of dissimilar metals. The upper brass body is attached to the spindle by one screw which also is frozen. The end of the spindle is twisted like a drill bit and has a point at the end. Spindle is 7" long. The balls ar 3/4" in diameter and when straight out reach 4 1/2" apart. Vintage Divers Style Wrist Compass c.1950's-1960's Liquid Dial Rubber & Brass
Here is a nice. Very utilitarian and stylish, men's wrist compass from about the 1950's or 1960's. It has a classic black dial with a thick North arrow set in liquid. It works perfectly. The housing is solid brass and covered in black rubber that has an integrated strap. The buckle is steel and shows a little rust. But not too bad. The top of the housing is not covered in rubber and can be unscrewed. The crystal appears to be hard plastic. There are no model or manufacturer's markings on the compass or band. Except the words" West Germany" on the south end of the North arrow. The band is 10 1/4" in length. The compass is light weight. But the housing is solid. The brass has taken on a nice patina. This compass is not a professional diver's compass and has no indication that it is water resistent- it looks ... moreto me like a diver's compass. It can be worn just for casual wearing or sport of any kind. The functions properly and I would say can be relied upon for pointing to Magnetic North as a compass should. A nice vintage piece. Antique Brass Horse Engraved Match Safe With Match Striker
This is a nice antique match safe! Both sides are engraved with a horse in fine detail. One side has some wear to the mane engraving, see photos. The bottom has the ribbed striker, no excess wear. The back hinge and all parts are intact, push button opening works well. The top is not tightly clamped under the back hinge, I will not risk damaging it to fix it with my clumsy fingers, I will leave that simple job to you. As it is, it does stay closed and open properly, it should just be slid up a little more securely. It measures 2-3/4" long and 1-1/4" wide, and shows signs of age and use, little bumps and depressions, bit uverall very good antique condition and a fine addition to any colleciton! Vintage or Antique Japanese Brass Incense Burner
Offered for sale is a vintage or antique Japanese brass incense burner. No marking but I am sure. It is Japanese origin from the Foo Dog finial. The incense was used and it is in excellent condition with no damage, but does have age patina. The incense burner has a raised phoenix on one side and birds and flowers on the other side. The 3 legged has lion head decoration. It measures 7-1/2"H x 6-5/8"W from handle to handle and weighs 3.2 lbs. The age is unknown but I would guess early 20th century.

NICE Older Vintage Brass Candy Store Scoop Flour Scoop Sugar Scoop You know I love old scoops- I am always looking for them. And they always find me. I use them in my kitchen for all of my"scoopables, and this one will definitely do the trick in style for you! It's an older vintage candy scoop that is made of brass, with a hollow brass handle and a solid brass scoop. Measuring 7 1/2" long, it is 2 1/2" wide at the scoop and 1" deepest at the scoop. It weighs 1/4 lb. It is in excellent solid and sturdy condition. There are some very small ripples around the very edge of the scoop that look like they could be original to the making, as they are not dings. There is one teenieteenie ding at the very top edge of the scoop- it'll be hard for you to see. The patina is dark, but does not appear to be original- I do believe ... morethat it has been polished(but not recently) I think the light in my photos make it look lighter and brighter than it actuall is. You can see green oxidation at the base to the opening of the handle- and the darkness of the color of the brass inside. This is a really nice scoop that you will love and use! I am offering a vintage 1890's National Cash register that is in very good condition. When you push the keys with the sale amount. The appropriate metal tag rises in the window that matches the keyed amount. The key action is smooth as if this was made yesterday. Please note that this register is missing the decorative metal plate on the cash register drawer. In addition the plate on top of the glass display is missing. Also note that the owner closed the cash drawer and does not know how to open the drawer. The cash drawer is spring loaded and the spring is in excellent working condition. Its probably easy to open the drawer. We just don't know how to do it. The key for the cash register is in the closed cash drawer. This register is 15.25" long by 17.25" tall and 9" wide. This is a Chinese sword i bought nearly 10 years ago. Supposedly it was an antique ming or warren states sword. but i am pretty sure it is a fake!
