This beautiful piece was made in England around 1950 and is made from oak. There is a beveled oval mirror in the center. On either side of the seat are umbrella or stick holders with tin trays at the bottom. The hall tree has four standard solid brass hooks. Giving the hall tree a very Jacobean look are some small geometric wood decorations throughout. The seat lifts up to reveal a small storage space below. This hall tree is in very good condition with only very minor wear which you would expect from a piece of this age. It will make a functional and beautiful addition to any discerning home! Up for auction is a RARE piece of early National Linen Service Corp. history. I don't know what you would call this. A stand, a dispenser, a hamper, or a Hall Tree. I call it RARE because I've had this piece for years and have NEVER been able to find out anything about it. It has a decal on the front that says APEX LINEN SERVICE CHATTANOOGA. TENN. no zip code) Under the upper shelf. Stamped or impressed into the wood is PROPERTY OF NAT. LINEN SER. CORP. We used a spotlight on the second photo to make it easier for you to read. I've researched this piece locally and spent countless hours over the years researching on the internet. I've never been able to find anything about ... moreit and I've never seen another one like it. Which drives me crazy because I want to know what was originally attached to the top shelf and why is the hole there. If you know, please email me. The piece is approx. 52 3/4" tall x 14 1/8" at its widest point x 14 1/8" deep at the base. The shelf not counting the back is approx. 10" deep. If you count the back and side rails it is 11 1/2" deep. I have no idea what the screen in the bottom is for. This piece DOES need refinishing. It's been sitting around for many. Many years and the original finish is mostly gone. It was covered with dust. So we the cleaned the dust off it, then wiped it down with some furniture polish so you could see at least some of the grain in the wood(there is some nice quarter sawed oak in some areas) We missed a few spots with the polish, which you may see in a couple of the photos(especially by the feet) I did find out that in 1928 Southern Linen changed its name to National Linen Service Corporation. There are a few flaws which are in the pictures. tiny chip in marble top. missing left side bar which holds umbrellas. It is a clean cut. Must have come loose and then unfortunately lost. Bottom of glove box is missing a bar under it to hold up the drawer. Easy fix. Mirror was removed during transport. In very good condition though. Email any questions. I am negotiable. Rare and unusual standing owl carved oak umbrella stand from the 1890's. Measures 31-1/2" tall. Excellent original finish with no breaks or repairs. This wonderful Art Nouveau stand has been in my home for 20+ years and is now for sale as I prepare to move and downsize. I have never seen another and it has been very well cared for. There is surface wear on the metal drip pan that sits in the base but otherwise everything is in excellent condition. I have a barn find from my great grandmothers estate. This is a amazing beautiful piece. It is a umbrella stand that has mirror and is very unique. The wood is a hard wood and darker color. There is a hook missing. The mirror needs polishing. There is a custom piece of wood to cover drawer. The drawer needs to be sanded inside it will not open. I believe there used to be marble on top of drawer. This is in great overall condition fot its age. I am not sure of age however. Will polish up great and clean. Look at pictures.
