It is in vintage solid condition, but has many years of wear and use that is apparent by it's nicks scratches and worn areas. It appears that the base may have been painted at one time, as there seems to be traces of light colored paint on it. This is definitely a more primitive piece and is loaded with character. Questions? Phone 503 307 3889 any time. Description of item for sale: This impressive highly carved hall tree is from France and it dates to the Gothic revival period of the mid-1800's. This is a genuine old one with all hand carved detail in high relief. Because of its size it will stand out in even a large entry hall. It is made solid chestnut with walnut figures with everything finished very dark. The wrought iron hooks are solid and strong. The wood umbrella pan in the base is removable for convenient cleaning. There is are a few minor imperfections such as a crack in the right carved panel. A chip of wood missing from the peak of the mirror and, minor streaks in the mirror silvering(see photos) Overall this hall tree is in excellent antique condition. Nice set of 4 cast iron hooks for sale. These could be used for a tree stand or a wall… no screws included. Each hook measures 5 1/2" long. 3 3/8" deep and 7/8" wide.
