ANTIQUE SHELL CAST IRON VICTORIAN CANE UMBRELLA HEARTH TOOL STAND
Beautiful antique umbrella or cane stand-I actually used it on my bathroom vanity with a hand towel and soaps! It has been painted antique gold which actually looks like aged brass. Measures 17 inches high and shell is 6 1/2 deep x 9 3/4 inches wide. Legs extend out beyond this so actual dimensions are a little larger. The back has"Royal" stamped on it. Measuring between the curled feet this antique Victorian Cast Iron Umbrella Stand measures 8” wide by 15” long and the height to the top of the handle is 25 ½” Sitting with on paw up and looking back at his master ... moreis a Cairn Terrier. Behind him are two gentleman’s canes; one with a dog’s head handle and the other with a horse head. There is some roughness to the cast iron at the bottom from years of wet umbrellas. I found this at an antique market in Strasbourg. Alsace, France. It was a beer tap and we still have the faucet attached on one side. The faucet is brass and the handle is black metal. We left this in its original condition. This tap functions wonderfully as an umbrella stand even though it does not have a bottom. The base color is a creamy white with green line accents. The center part is beautifully decorated with a hunt setting showing a bugling stag and deer in a forest setting under an oak tree. The top rim is decorated for bird hunters. It shows various species of birds in flight. It is hallmarked with a green Villeroy& ... moreBoch Mattlach hallmark. It also says made in Saar-Basin. This hallmark dates it to c.1874-1890. 19 1/2" tall. It is 9 1/2" in diameter at the top. ~8" in the middle diameter. 8 1/2" at the bottom.
