Measures 36" Long X 21" Wide X 13" Deep. This is not a huge trunk. Would make a great coffee table or display item. The clasp hinges on the front are missing the bottom portion. Fantastic Large Antique Black Steamer Trunk Chest
Nice. Heavy black/very dark brown antique steamer trunk. The front lock and both side latches are present. Often the front center mechanisms are missing. Gorgeous metal accents and rivet work. Much of the leather strapping has rotted away which is very normal for these trunks that did most of their travel in the damp bottoms of large ships. The initials JEM has been placed on the side. There is a small dent on the top and water damage to the lining only on the inside as you can see in the photos. PERFECT for an end or coffee table with the flat top, as a restoration project or a blanket chest. Measures 24.5" High, 38" Wide and 22" Deep.

She said she wants to give it to a good home and she recovered it from a area in Youngs Town Ohio and in the bottom in between some material ... morewas a newspaper clipping from 1906. Youngs town was a mafia town with deep deep history and great hidden wealth through various means, how this was acquired there I have no idea, but there was a lot of money there and a pirates chest with deep history rested there and changed hands and now its mine. RARE* Antique George B Bains& Sons Trunk These trunks are quite hard to find these days since few have survived their travels…and this is one lucky survivor since originally they were intended to be light weight but they weren't very strong. This one is in very worn condition. The original decorative brass lock is beautiful and extremely rare. The lock is marked Pat’D May 1870 and Sept 1887. The lock was made by the Star Lock Works which was established in Philadelphia in 1869(formerly C. Liebrich. An early American locksmith who started in 1836) Inside the trunk is the original maker's label of George B. Bains and Sons, a successful trunk maker in Philadelphia for many years. Inside is a removable upper shelf insert to reveal more trunk space in the bottom. The bottom has condition issues and the outer straps are missing. There ... moreis no key for the lock. There are initials M. E. W. on the side of the trunk and a sticker on the side that reads Pennsylvania Railroad Company Broad St. Station Storage Room M. Train 190(Broad Street Station(demolished in 1953) was the primary passenger terminal for the Pennsylvania Railroad from 1881 to the 1950’s. I'm guessing it is from early 1900s or possibly late 1800s. Item is located in Newark. Delaware and can be picked up locally or can be shipped but buyer is to pay actual shipping costs. This is an absolutely gorgeous antique steamer trunk. As you can see in the photos the wood really accentuates the black color. The wood is beautiful. Much of the leather remains although both side straps have rotted away which is very common in a trunk of this age. The metal accents. Rivets and corner pieces are very ornate. In it's day this was a very expensive trunk. One hing on the back is in need of slight repair. Vintage flat topped metal covered steamer Excelsior trunk. Has been kept inside a smoke and pet free home. Height: 22.5 inches width: 32 inches Depth: 19 inches Would make an excellent restoration project. While the paint is damaged and needs to be redone. There is minimal damage to the metal itself. The drawer lifts out easily. The drawer insert does require some repair. The damage would be easily remedied by re-papering. There is no key for the lock. I have seen keys for this particular Excelsior trunk lock. The code for the key is 5989. The hasps on either side of the lock work well. I have owned this trunk for close to 30 years. It was vintage. Close to antique when I bought it. In all the years I have owned this trunk, I have not seen another one as large as it.

VINTAGE Antique Wardrobe STEAMER CHEST TRUNK National Vulcanized Fibre co.
Here is an antique Steamer Trunk Wardrobe. The sides are flat so this could be used as an interesting coffee table. The outside brass has a little oxidation and there are assorted nicks and dings from use but overall it's in pretty good shape. It has all four(4) drawers. The top drawer locks and I believe one of the keys works in that lock. All the hanging mechanisms work- the hanging bars extend out etc. I have all the wooden hangers(see photo) It smells a little musty inside but probably nothing Febreeze and fresh air won't fix. The lock on the outside works and I have two(2) original keys plus a new one I had to have made when I locked the keys inside. I have always called this the Circus trunk because I bought it in Sarasota. Florida which has very strong circus ties. Sarasota was for many years the winter home of Ringling Brothers ... moreCircus and Barnum and Bailey Circus and now has an excellent Circus Museum and the Ringling Art Museum(formerly the Ringling residence) The man I bought the trunk from said it had belonged to a circus performer. I did a little research but was not able to get any more information than that. So not only can you buy a very cool old trunk but you can have a mystery included for free! This is a fun piece of Americana and of special interest to Circus fans everywhere! I don't know how much this weighs. Probably 70-100 pounds I would guess. They represent a much simpler time in this country. It's that emotional connection that makes them so appealing to collectors, and will only increase the value of the piece in time. vintage steamer hump back trunk pick up only
Very nice vintage hump back trunk. It appears to be very old. I believe it is all original and all the hardware is present to my knowledge. Both straps are missing except part of one strap although not attached is inside the trunk. There is some slight surface rust on top metal. I did not try to remove it. It show signs of use but is still in pretty nice condition. I do not have the lock but all the latches are there and it opens without a lock. I think the lock is original but not sure. Please view all pictures and ask questions before bidding. Due to size this item is pick up only. About 30 miles south of Cleveland Ohio. Antique steamer trunk Hump back Dome lid child size chest Tin wood or cardboard
This is bigger than a doll trunk I think. But smaller than an adult size, so I think it was probably for a child to use while traveling or for storage. 20" wide, 12 1/2" tall and 11 1/2" deep. I think it has a this layer of tin with a faux wood grain patter on it and that is either over cardboard or wood. The chest is not super heavy, about 9 1/2 pounds, so it is probably a combination of both materials. Please use the pictures to determine condition. You can tell this was used and it is showing its age. One side has the remnants of what looks like was a leather handle, but the other side does not even have the metal parts of that handle. There are some rivets missing, one of the latches on the front side is missing parts and none of the three seems functional. One of the hinges on the back side is painted green. The tin covering ... moreis scuffed and dented. Still, overall condition for its age, is not really that bad. The lid opens and closes easily and the whole trunk is still solid, not wobbly. I don't have a tray or a key for this one.

Stored owners important papers and item was wrapped in March 23. 1952 Newspaper that is in pristine condition. No smoke or pet but is a bit musty. Lock was pride open but can be re bent into shape. Lock is missing guts but closes shut tight. and cannot see damage of lock has two heavy duty clasps to keep it shut tight also. Corners all but one. Is in excellent condition. one corner is dented in) but adds character. No rust or other damage other than scratches on black metal on bottom and a few on top. Does not take away from charm. Also has a side leather handle in excellent condition. Interior is paper lined. in Pristine condition. no tears or stains. Would make a great décor piece. or coffee ... moretable. since its heavy metal and black.

What can I say about this? Shown is an awesome old steamer chest that has it's roots in Scotland. It even shows the passenger's name. A. Hanning, and destination on it. It shows normal wear for something this age. It measures 36" tall by 21" wide by 14 1/2" deep. I'm sure there is some very interesting history and stories behind this trunk. Beautiful Vintage Bassett Steamer Trunk - LOCAL PICKUP ONLY
This is a beautiful vintage steamer trunk by Bassett. In great condition. Dimensions are approximately 20x23x39. Outside handles are intact. Minor scuffs on exterior. Interior is a gorgeous blue with original wooden clothes hangers. Thin suitcase attached at bottom for smaller items. Set of four drawers, one partitioned inside. Bottom drawer features a snap-in item that we believe is for potpourri, to keep the trunk smelling fresh(very cool addition that we haven't seen before) Metal bar slides up to prevent drawers from opening in transport. Smoke-free home. Picture shows masking tape marks that previous owner used to keep the outside lock from closing and locking. The tape and residue has since been removed. Belonged to a now 85 year old's mother and the trunk may have been handed down to her. Possibly from the first World War. Trunk has a metal frame and metal(steel? ornate hardware. Bottom has rollers in each corner, 1 roller is frozen(see last picture) Constructed of wood which was partially covered with material. Some material still remains. Trunk is 30" x 21" x 17 1/4" and trunks is 15" deep when open.all approx. The inside was covered in decorative paper with some Russian photos remaining. One has Russian Chevalier Guard written under it. Info.The Chevalier Guard regiment(Russian: Кавалергардский полк) was a Russian heavy cavalry guard regiment. The trunk is in very vintage condition with cracks, warping in the wood slats, heavy rust, broken leather straps and maybe some water damage. I do not know much about this trunk. On most of the top iron decals. In very small risen print, it says"Pat. MAR 1880" I believe this to be the year it was made. I don't know who manufactured it. This is a LARGE everwear trunk. 43 1/2" long 22 1/2" deep and 22" height. The trunk has no key and lock is apart. someone trimmed the rivits down to get the lock off with minimal damage. Has some advertising. It is black I would prefer to not ship due to size.
