This pair of Japanese Figures ceramics tile byIrina Lorin were made in the 1950’s and measure approximately 10” by 7” for themale figure. And approximately 9” by 9” for the female figure. The glazes are a combination of high glossand matte. Irina Lorin was Russian born and was educatedin Harbin. China. Her family was relocated to Harbin by Czar Nicholas II a yearbefore he was put to death. She was only 5 at that time. After coming to theUnited States she worked at Paramount Studios with Miss Edith Head and MadameKarinska. Irina was Head of Accessories for Paramount and worked on such famousfilms as Lady in the Dark, East of Eden, and several of the Bob Hope"Road" films. Made in Japan. Circa 1940's Here is a beautifully detailed antique floral tile that was designed to be used as a border tile or listello. The hand painted design is unique to each tile, the raised pattern on the clay is glazed with rich, deep colors against a white background. Measures 4 1/8" long x 1 1/4" wide x 5/8" thick. Good condition for its age; has minor wear with only the most minor glaze nips and pre-existing mortor one would expect of a tile made in the 1940's. Condition is very good to excellent! Description: This pair of framed ceramic tiles each have three(3) 6” x 3” tiles and are framed to 18 ¾” high x 3 ¾” wide overall. They are hand painted with a black bamboo motif and gold highlights and encased in a black lacquer with gold edge frame.
