Lovely set of three(3) hand painted Makkum tiles in solid oak frames. The frames measure 7" x 7" The tiles are approximately 5 1/2" square. The tiles are not antique. But were produced in the 1970s at the original factory in Makkum, Holland, using traditional techniques and hand-painted by their professional artists. These collectibles are ready to be displayed. The methods of glazing and decoration of this tile have been in use in the Tichelaars pottery for over three centuries. nbspA very pretty Polychrome Tile measuring 5 x 5 hand painted by the Makkum Tichelaar Co in Holland and is called a Polychrome Tile. It has the Sparkling Mica in the clay you can see on the back of the tile( had to take it off and then reglue it back on to get the backmark) I am not sure of the age as I don't know how to date the tiles.
