Antique Portrait Tile Columbus like Trent Providential
Listed without a reserve is a nice. And I believe rare, portrait tile made by C Pardee works Perth Amboy NJ. The tile measures just under 4 1/2 inches edge to edge. There is a small chip in the upper right corner that would easily be hidden by any frame. There is some crazing to the glaze and what appears to be a glaze bubble that broke and a small mark(small nip) in the glaze to the left of the nose. I don't know the accuracy of the note on back of the tile. It was there when I purchased the tile. Note: if the item sells outside of the US. I will charge actual shipping cost to be determined. The diameter with edge is 2.13 inches. The inside diameter is 1.92 inches. From the bottom to the top ledge in measures 0.3 inches Signed B.K.R Nice greenish brown color glaze. I have 14 tiles,The tiles Depict two hunters and 1 deer(unfortunately i am missing the tile with deer head) The hunters are composed of 6x6 inch tiles, and the deer scene is composed of 6x9inch tiles. I believe these tiles may have originally been a fireplace surround, but i am not positive. They are in great shape. There is one tiny chip on on corner of 1 tile. The rest are in amazing shape. Beautiful Victorian tile from The Providential Tile Works Company. Trenton, New Jersey. Stunning relief depicts trumpet flower, morning glory, in rich sienna browns. This tile was made between 1886 and 1890. It is in very good condition. Light crazing throughout. There is one small chip along the left-hand edge and some slight wear to edges commensurate with age. Wonderful rich glaze with beautiful depth of color and detail. The back has no chips or nicks. The tile measures 6” x 6” and is 1/2” thick. Stunning Antique Victorian Majolica High Relief Tile - Providential Tile Works
Stunning antique Victorian English Majolica tile moulded in high relief with a very beautiful glaze color in rich browns of intertwining vines and leaves weaving around a stylised flower to the center. The high relief moulding is very crisp and sharp with excellent detail. Circa 1895. The tile is in very good condition. A few small chips along edges/corners. As well as a few small surface chips. Very light crazing. Superb glaze brilliance with wonderful depth of color. The back has some light cement residue, but overall is clean and free of chips and is embossed: Providential Tile Works, Trenton N. J. The tile is 6” x 6” and is 1/2” thick. Antique Decorative Arts Providential Tile Works Majolica Trenton NJ Floral Blue
Up for auction is a vintage antique Provincial Tile(PT) Works wedgewood blue Majolica architectural tile recently found at auction in the suburban Philadelphia PA area. It is found in good used condition with the only condition of heavy crazing under the glaze. Very typical of these tiles of this age and one small chip to one corner, number 4. This measures 3" sq by 1/2" thick. There are very minor knicks to the back as well as a build up of the old glue on the back and plasters on the side. A great repurposed trivet or a great wall hanging. The design# is on the back, we cannot make it out but believe is to be F276, but not positive, difficult to make out and too hard to photograph. On auction today is. Beautiful Victorian era tiles. Made from the PROVIDENTIAL TILE WORKS company in Trenton, New Jersey. A set of 5 antique porcelain tiles. Four of the tiles seem to be the same and then the one on the left of the first picture is different. They all are antique rose pattern from the Victorian era. These tiles are rare and hard to find. Especially with a set of five. They are 6x6 inch tiles that are 1/2 inch thick. They were made in circa 1885. They have some chips in the glaze and there is definitely crazing in the glaze. None are broken. Very good condition considering they are 129 years old! A little history of these tiles and how I acquired them. Well it was a Saturday afternoon and my husband and I were traveling through Connecticut. We saw signs for a barn sale and followed them through the back roads of Connecticut. ... moreWe finally arrived at this barn filled with 3 generations of antiques. The owner was moving to a retirement home and he was about 80 years old sitting in a chair and told us to come in and look around. So we did. The floor of this barn was not very sturdy and we had to be very careful where we stepped. We found a lot of items but in the corner of this barn, in a back room there was this box. In the box were these tiles carefully packed and probably sitting there for at least 100 years. Here is a beautiful collection of 10 antique victorian era tiles measuring 4 1/4" x 6" each. The tiles are slightly less than 1/2" thick. More like 14/32" The tiles were manufactured by Providential Tile Works in Trenton NJ which existed between 1885- 1913. Historical articles mention that this company manufactured mantel and hearth tiles as well as tiles for wall decoration. The tiles are marked on the back P. T. W. with a V and the number 40 in a circle. PTW tiles were manufactured in the late 19th and early 20th century and these particular ones contain a shell in the center surrounded with ribbons and leaves. The colors are pale shades of pink, blues, and greens. The surface of the tiles are raised and have a slightly embossed design. They are really in excellent condtion for being 100 years old or older. There is ... moreone tile that stills has some plaster remnants running down one side. There is some residue left on the back of all of them. And, one tile has two tiny chips, one on the side and one on the corner. They all have natural full surface crazing and really are beautiful old tiles. Up for your consideration are15 antique tiles salvaged from an old fireplace. Each measures 6 inches long. 1 1/2 inches wide and nearly a 1/2" thick. They have surface crazing and some are pitted or rough. A few have chipped edges and one has damage on the back. I took a picture of the worst two. Antique Providential 4-Tile Torch Panel
Providential Tile Works. Trenton, NJ 1886-1913 This company was know for their fine Victorian-style tiles and hired Isaac Broome, the celebrated designer and modeler. This 4-tile set depicted a lit torch suspended from a decorative chain. It has glossy mottled glazing with shades of brown, blue/gray, yellow and off white. Lots of crazing. Each tile measures 6" sq x 1/2" thick, so overall measurement is 24" tall x 6" wide. Good condition for its age; it has some surface wear and edge/corner chips. Would look great in a frame or can be installed in a fireplace or any other setting.

2 Small Majolica Art Tiles. Made by the Providential Tile Works, Trenton, New Jersey Providential Tile Works was in business from 1885 to 1913 and produced richly glazed and embossed art tiles. Many with figural imagery. These two small earthenware tiles are wonderful examples of late 19th century art tiles. The foliate and geometric design is in pressed relief with a rich glazing that pools nicely within the embossed elements. Beautiful antique tile from the Providential Tile Works Company which was in business in Trenton NJ from 1885-1913. This tile is over 100 years old. Very beautiful depicting the art nouveau period. I have pictured the minute chips along the edges. You literally cannot see them.but since I was listing on ebay. I got real close and found them through the camera lens! If you are going to put this in a wooden tile frame, you will never see these. No crazing. It has a thick coat of gloss on it from the factory. It really is a beautiful piece of tile.
