Collectible Tile Here is an interesting.Vintage Tile.that comes from my personal collection. I have no idea about its origins.but it reminds me a lot of the decorative Mexican Tile.from years gone by. It also reminds me.a lot.of the Italian Pottery.especially the artwork. The piece is filled with rich colors and design.similar to artwork found in the earlier part of the 1900's. I think that this is a much newer piece though. Wish I had a better idea.as to the true age. The tile is about 1/4 of an inch thick. It is the color of Sewer Tile.to the backside. The tile is glazed to the top.and measures a little less than 6 inches across. The surface to the top.actually looks very nice.with no crazing. The painting.looks like it was hand done.and sort of resembles a Folk Art Style. The artist has even splattered the paint.to give it a little ... moremore flair. The very subtle and sublime design is of a botanical/floral nature. The tile has been placed in a newly custom built quarter sawn white oak frame which has been given an old fashioned shellac with wax finish. I cannot be sure of the age. the back of the tile looks very fresh but this is not necessarily a reason to dismiss the fact that it was made during the American Arts and Crafts period(1890-1915) Also sometimes know as the Mission or Stickley era. Vintage MALIBU TILE Wrought Iron Table Spanish Revival Art Pottery CATALINA ERA Vintage MALIBU(D&M? Wrought Iron Tile-Top Table in a unique hexagonal design being offered for sale. This one-of-a-kind table appears to be Malibu and not Taylor or Catalina due to it's pie-shaped tiles and floral designs. Each tile has a bleeding heart pierced by an arrow and the words"Carmen I Love You Dear Sweetheart Of Mine" spelled accross each tile within a scrolling white banner. The table has wrought iron construction that is very heavy with flattened and splayed ends to each metal piece. There are two alternating shapes repeating around the perimeter. This table measures accross the top: 18-3/8" side-to-side and 21-1/8" corner-to-corner. The table stands: 23-3/4" tall. The previous owner painted it black a few years back ... moreand there are some black brush strokes on the bottom. Diamond-shaped tile. This additional tile shows an old spanish house and the words: LAWNDALE CALIF spelled-out below it. There looks to be a name or signature on the side of the bottom tile but I can't read it(see the last two pictures) Also the second to the last picture shows a small broken corner which I think I still have somewhere on my property. The table-top tiles look excellent with no cracks or major chips. The pointed ends in the table center show a few tiny chips to the blue tips but nothing too noticable. There is slight crazing overall from age. The original grout still remains but is yellowed and missing in many places. Multiple purchases always get a combined shipping rate. Postage will be at least $100.00 minimum although I would prefer the buyer make their own shipping arrangements due to this table weighing 36 pounds by itself. 5 TILES ON POTTERY PLANTER. VILLEROY BOCH GERMANY, WINDMILL. 5 art pottery tiles set in metal(pewter or lead) make up this lovely planter from Germany. Use as an art piece or take the tiles apart to frame them. Looks and feels like they are hand painted. Backs of tiles are marked: MADE IN GERMANY 02 V B. Inside separate circles- 38 74 4 3 dots. Date produced is unknown. Previous owner thought they were made early 1900's or late 1800's. I do not know. Almost 6 3/8" height x 6 3/4" wide. Each tile is about 5 7/8" x 5 7/8" x 1/4" thick. Measurements are approximate. Condition is good. No chips or cracks. It needs a slight cleaning. Metal is worn. No chips or cracks that I can find. It does NOT hold water. Here is one of three heavy hand made and hand painted great Persian/ Middle Eastern/ Islamic tiles that I am listing in addition to a few other cool items from the same area of the world and estates from here in the Charleston area. The tile is probably late 19th century to early 20th century and is super neat.deer or antelope is the subject with fauna and grass! The colors are vibrant yet muted grays and greens and the hand painted tile is detailed. A Rare& Obscure American Arts& Crafts Tile by Enfield Pottery and Tile Works of Laverock. Pennsylvania. It measures 3 1/2 inches in diameter and the condition is excellent and undamaged. There are no chips, no cracks, and no repairs though you should note the presence some overall crazing. It retains its original paper label as well. Enfield had a very interesting history having been located just North of Philadelphia and just South of Doylestown. Both Evans and Barber discuss in there books the connection between Mercer's Moravian Tile and Enfield as the similarities are uncanny. Both used a red clay body and a majolica type tin glaze not to mention the historical and medieval stylistic similarities. 13" Denmark KNABSTRUP Baro Danish Mid-Century Modern Art Pottery TILE
Description: This hand crafted tile is approx. 13 ½” high x 11 ¾” wide x 1” thick. It is titled“Spring” One of the four seasons series designed by Piotr Labuzek Baro. Antique c1900 Arts & Crafts Carved Art Pottery Architectural Tile-Grueby Quality
Up for bids is this Antique c.1900 Arts& Crafts Carved Art Pottery Architectural Tile. I acquired this tile from a man who told me that this came off of a building in New Jersey that was getting torn down. The building was built right around the turn of the century in America. The tile is done in a 3 tone matte glaze of different shades of green that are very similar to sea foam green. The tile depicts 2 ancient Egyptian men which are shirtless and wearing traditional wrap around skirts. The Egyptians are using modern surveying tools which is interesting because they are the ones who invented the primitive versions of the tools they are using. The tile looks to be completely hand carved and incised instead of being molded with the decoration. The only marks on the piece is a number code from production on the side which is done in black ... moreink. The tile is backed with a blank tile to help support the weight of the tile. The overall weight of the tile is 22 pounds. I have not been able to identify the maker of this piece but I believe that it could possibly be Grueby because of the way that it was made and it reminds me of the scarabs that they made but at the same time there are features that remind me of Rookwood Faience tiles. This piece most likely would have been custom made for the building that it went in so this could possibly be the only one ever made. Any information would be greatly appreciated. This is a pretty large tile measuring 12 1/2" in length. 12 1/2" in height, and is 2 1/16" in depth. This piece is in great condition with just a 1 1/2" chip to the top edge and a few very minor and shallow ones to the bottom corners which are very hard to notice. The tile is 13 1/4 inches high and 13 1/4 inches long. The tile in made in Venezuela, and the signer is Marzig. The tile is from my fathers estate, and he hung it on the wall. The tile had red felt backing, but I removed it, to see where the tile came from. He traveled worldwide and the tile comes from a smoke free home. The tile has no manufacturer’s mark. Absent information to the contrary. We would guess that the tile was produced in the Staffordshire area of England in the 19th century during the Victorian era. The tile is housed in an old nondescript black painted wooden frame as we found it. It shows no evidence of formally being mounted in a wall or fireplace surround. Etc. The tile has petty chipping to the edges possibly caused by the frame over the past 130 years which are normally framed out of view. There is a ¾” chip to the back as you can see in the photos but it does not come through to the front and does not interfere with the display of the item. FINEST California Faience Co. Art Pottery or Calco 16 Tile TABLE
Truly one of the most spectacular pieces I have had the pleasure in owning and now passing on. This is a(16) tile California Faience Table. The table measures 20" square x 20 1/2" high. The(16) tile pieces are inlaid in a Walnut wood frame and supported by solid Walnut turned legs. It is VERY sturdy and well made. Wood has some scratches and deeper gouges. But a coat of Restore a Finish did it wonders. There are also some TINY white paint specks that I have removed, and may have missed few. The tiles are in excellent condition. There are a couple of edge nicks and rough edges, mostly on 2 corner tiles. See last 3 photos. Very minor and really only pointed out for the eBay microscope.
