Map comes from the New Historical ATLAS of Washtenaw County Michigan 1874. Illustrated by Everts& Stewart. This is a rare book. Map is ANN ARBOR Township and is hand colored. The back side of the map shows various homes from the area. My full photo's make the map look a bit fuzzy. So I have taken a close up to show the clarity of the map The size is 14 1/2 x 17. Some staining an minor tears. The holes on the right side are where it was attached in the book. I consider this to be very good condition for being"139 years old" Would look Great Matted and Framed! Michigan detailed fine large hand color state 1886 antique engraved map
Michigan Issued c.1874. Philadelphia by O.W. Gray& Son(Re-issued 1886. Philadelphia by Stedman& Brown) Uncommon original antique engraved map with original hand color. Printed on quality paper which retains its inherent structural flexibility and soundness. In Good++ to near VG or better condition. Mostly clean and attractive, minor light surface age wear, trivial signs of usage, short closed splits at centerfold end now closed on back with archival tape, but overall remaining well worthy of ownership and display[note: we grade very conservatively and always seek to disclose any noteworthy flaws] The printed area remains visually pleasing. A nice impression of an interesting and somewhat scarce large antique map. Gray bought the map plates from the Colton firm and re-issued them, often with changes. Thus, this map is quite likely ... morea variant of earlier issues, which at a quick glance might appear to be identical. This makes it of potential interest to a collector or cartographic historian. Any minor defects along the sheet edges and in the margins may be seen in the photos. Original centerfold as issued. Sheet measures c. 17 1/4" W x 27" H.
