Here is an antique Steamer Trunk Wardrobe. The sides are flat so this could be used as an interesting coffee table. The outside brass has a little oxidation and there are assorted nicks and dings from use but overall it's in pretty good shape. It has all four(4) drawers. The top drawer locks and I believe one of the keys works in that lock. All the hanging mechanisms work- the hanging bars extend out etc. I have all the wooden hangers(see photo) It smells a little musty inside but probably nothing Febreeze and fresh air won't fix. The lock on the outside works and I have two(2) original keys plus a new one I had to have made when I locked the keys inside. I have always called this the Circus trunk because I bought it in Sarasota. Florida which has very strong circus ties. Sarasota was for many years the winter home of Ringling Brothers ... moreCircus and Barnum and Bailey Circus and now has an excellent Circus Museum and the Ringling Art Museum(formerly the Ringling residence) The man I bought the trunk from said it had belonged to a circus performer. I did a little research but was not able to get any more information than that. So not only can you buy a very cool old trunk but you can have a mystery included for free! This is a fun piece of Americana and of special interest to Circus fans everywhere! I don't know how much this weighs. Probably 70-100 pounds I would guess. Antique French Trunk Storage Chest Raised Metal European
At auction is a very fine old French chest. It has great age. Patina on the metal and wood. It looks to be brass raised and dimpled metal, with different scenes on 4 panels. Inside of the box is 24" long by 18" deep by 13.5" wide Top lid size is 27.5" long by 15 3/4" wide. It has a tag on the under side of the lid that says made in France. There was another tag beside it but part of it is missing. The writing and the ink reenforce its age. I am not positive when it was made. But you can see from the pictures its very old. I havent been able to find anything like it to compare it to. My guess is mid 1800th century to the early 1900s. It has a few small nails missing on the bottom left back corner. Where it had been hit probably while moving it. Metal is all there just needs a few nails. Over all condition is good. ... moreIt has a small piece of wood missing at the top left corner. you can see it in the picture. It was from the nail that holds the corner together. The wood boards in the inside look like the were hand sawed, and have file, rasp marks. You can see it the picture that shows the lid opened. Not positive what the wood is but it looks to be walnut. The bottom and back are bare wood. It has 4 metal wheels on the bottom. This is a great old piece, please look at the pictures good. Any questions email me and I will respond as soon as possible. Antique steamer trunk Hump back Dome lid child size chest Tin wood or cardboard
This is bigger than a doll trunk I think. But smaller than an adult size, so I think it was probably for a child to use while traveling or for storage. 20" wide, 12 1/2" tall and 11 1/2" deep. I think it has a this layer of tin with a faux wood grain patter on it and that is either over cardboard or wood. The chest is not super heavy, about 9 1/2 pounds, so it is probably a combination of both materials. Please use the pictures to determine condition. You can tell this was used and it is showing its age. One side has the remnants of what looks like was a leather handle, but the other side does not even have the metal parts of that handle. There are some rivets missing, one of the latches on the front side is missing parts and none of the three seems functional. One of the hinges on the back side is painted green. The tin covering ... moreis scuffed and dented. Still, overall condition for its age, is not really that bad. The lid opens and closes easily and the whole trunk is still solid, not wobbly. I don't have a tray or a key for this one.

Antique Dome Top Child ~ Doll ~ Toy Trunk, Wood Storage Chest, 26x15x14
We believe this dome top trunk to be an antique. And based on it's smaller size possibly a child's trunk or toy trunk. There is no longer a label on the trunk but the inside lid has a print of a bird(see photo) feeding her chicks. The trunk is done with an interesting combination of dark brown and ivory. It looks like the ivory was painted on but probably a good while ago since there is quite a bit of rust and discoloration coming through the paint. The dark brown areas look like tin or some thin metal that has been embossed with the scrolled pattern. The interior still has quite a bit of paper inside but the paper lining is not in good condition. There is a loose bracket on one side that should probably be fixed if the trunk is going to be opened regularly. There are two latches on the front that are still intact. The Chest measures approx. 22 inches long. 12 inches wide and about 11 inches tall to the peak on the hump top. The chest is very old constructed with dove tail corners. Somewhere all the road someone lined it with old wall paper. That paper is also old as there are areas where it is coming off and very worn. It would make a nice project for someone to re line the inside with different vintage paper. There are many old age cracks and repairs. There is a center narrow piece of wood at the very center of the top that has been replaced. There is some old termite damage near the bottom. I acquired this flat top antique trunk at an auction. I have not tried to clean it as I do not want to ruin the integrity of the trunk. It is made of wood and covered with canvas with metal straps. The left leather handle is broken and the right one is intact. However they are extremely fragile so I would suggest that they not be used to pick up the trunk. There are pieces on the front with the buckle. There is a small hole in the top of the trunk. Please look closely at the pictures as they are part of the description. The four ceramic tiles 9x9 and are hand painted and depict European monarchs. King. Queen, and two other unknown characters. Trunk is 53" long. 18" deep, and 18 1/4 tall. We have a very unique historical Swiss Red Cross Trunk offered. It's nice because we have historical information attached to the trunk- we have a signed document which will be included with the trunk which gives an interesting history to the piece. In case you are unable to clearly read the document- summary as follows: The prior owner of the trunk is 70+ years old and obtained the trunk around 1970. He had a tenant. At the time, of Hungarian descent who had come to the U.S. from Hungary via Switzerland. She had obtained the trunk from the Swiss Red Cross as part of their effort to assist Hungarian citizens escape communist oppression. He obtained the trunk from her. I picked up this chest with the intentions of restoring it but just don't have the time. I do not know much about these other than the fact that they look cool. I have no idea how old it is. Who made it, or what it's worth. The measurements are as follows: 30" W x 19" D x 21" H. I especially like the metal hardware on this chest and it seems to be in good condition. Large Antique German Hand Painted Legged Wedding Chest Trunk
Up for sale is a beautiful large sized German hand painted wedding chest measuring 32" tall. 49" long and 26" deep. I had sent over by container from England to the States. I am not sure about the year of this chest. There is one wooden bar inside the side of the chest to hold the top open with four small legs each measuring 2" tall.The outside is painted in a maroon color with floral designs in blues and greens. The backside of the trunk is painted in a light blue color as shown in the picture. This would be a lovely storage chest for blankets or clothing. There is definite wear on the outside and inside of this chest that I think only adds to its great patina. Any questions.just ask.
