I have no idea about its origins.but it reminds me a lot of the decorative Mexican Tile.from years gone by. The piece is filled with rich colors and design.similar to artwork found in the earlier part of the 1900's. Wish I had a better idea.as to the true age. The tile is about 1/4 of an inch thick and would remind one of a Bathroom Tile. It is white to the backside. The tile is glazed to the top side.and measures about 6 inches across. VTG Belgium Delft Blue Tile Dimensions 4 3/4 X 4 3/4 inches For your consideration we offer a pair of original Belgium Delft blue tiles from the late forties. It was manufactured possibly by the factory of George Gilliot in Hemiksen/ Antwerp. Belgium, but decorated by hand in Holland. The factory was founded in 1897 by George Gilliot in Hemiksem. As floor and wall tile factory, with John Salt, a ceramic specialist trained at Sèvres, as technical director. At the turn of the 20th century, the firm saw rapid expansion with a working force reaching nine hundred personnel in 1913. The last tiles were produced there in 1978 and the company was closed down by Sphinx Maastricht in 1985( the information is taken from the website of the British Museum in London) Nicely glazed surface. They are 3 inches square and 1/4 of an inch thick. They had been mounted& then removed, a tedious process to say the least, especially when such care was taken to not damage them. There is a tiny bit of faint crazing in the glaze, but otherwise they are in very good condition, no chips, cracks, scratches or stains. Up for auction are two Ceramic Tiles" Wheeling" and"Cushion" and what looks like the number 43 on the back Each one measures approximately 4 1/2 x 4 1/2 inches and approximately a quarter inch thick They are in nice vintage condition. The one time with the woman holding a broom has some little black marks on the tile. I don’t know if they can be cleaned as I didn’t want to try cleaning the tiles. The second time also a few marks. Hello and welcome For sale are these wonderful pair of framed hand painted porcelain/Glass? tiles. The glass tiles are decorated with sparrows and tree branches with flowers. The colors are soft pink. Blue, green, red, teal and browns. The tiles are in rectangular gold leaf. Appear to be wooden frames with areas of missing gold leaf paint. On the back of frames it says: To remove cello-phane cover wet well all with sponge wait one minute before removing to avoy damage gold leaf. They measure 3-1/2" x 7-1/2" x 1"deep. and the tiles measure 7" x 5" The glass tiles fit tightly into the backs of the frames and are covered with a paper backing and have been framed by the Verilyn Gallery. Vintage Japanese Hand-Painted. Hard Paste Porcelain Decorative Tiles This is a beautiful example of Japanese art made of white paste porcelain. There are two(2) tiles inside the frame. The design of a river boatman is hand painted in vibrant colors with a white background. It also has what I believe is the original frame. I asked several Asian friends about the age. And they could not place a period, but all felt that it was pre-WWII. These tiles are in good condition for their age. Other than normal wear and tear, especially on the frame. The tiles are approximately 10.3 x 21 cm(4 in x 8.25) The outside measurements of the frame are 14.2 cm x 25cm(5 5/8 x 9.84) The painting quality is excellent and the colors are strikingly vivid. Bright Glossy Glazed Colors with excellent color separation. There are seven eye catching colors used on the tiles. The tiles were made by American Encaustic Tiling Company. Which operated between 1919 to 1933 in Hermosa Beach, CA. Four tiles assembled together creates the gorgeous geometrical pattern with a medallion in the center. Vintage Claycraft Waterlilies Tile 4 x 2 inch
Sweet vintage tile by Claycraft of California with a waterlily motif. The actual measurements of the tile are about 3 3/4 x 1 3/4. And about 5/8 inch thick. It has a nice mold with glossy glazes of white flowers with yellow details. Blue water, and green leaves. It's in nearly perfect condition for its age- just some very minor chips on the back edges. But otherwise no other cracks or repairs, and no grout/cement(so it has never been installed, although there are some remnants of old cloth on the back, so it may have been mounted in a frame at one time) The back is stamped CLAYCRAFT.
