Vintage Wooden Mexican Folk Art pictures, Handpainted Tiles - 3 Pieces
This is 3 pieces of. What I believe, is Mexican Hand-painted Wooden Folk Art, Unsigned. Many pictures on the largest 7x8" look hand painted on tiles with both sides a repeat of the other. Tops ones surrounding the framed mirror are different. The 2 small paintings- 3 1/2 x 3 1/2" have a picture each. All surrounded by wood and covered with glass. On back of the large one's mirror is a piece of material secured by small nails. I haven't opened this. All three have a back hangar to be hung The three appear to have been painted with goldish paint and areas have wear. One small nick on wood of larger frame. No cracks that I can see and mirror looks good with only 1 small black dot that won't come off. I tried. All very sturdy and nothing coming apart. Not sure how these were made or how old. Collectible Tile Here is an interesting.Vintage Tile.that comes from my personal collection. I have no idea about its origins.but it reminds me a lot of the decorative Mexican Tile.from years gone by. It also reminds me.a lot.of the Italian Pottery.especially the artwork. The piece is filled with rich colors and design.similar to artwork found in the earlier part of the 1900's. I think that this is a much newer piece though. Wish I had a better idea.as to the true age. The tile is about 1/4 of an inch thick. It is the color of Sewer Tile.to the backside. The tile is glazed to the top.and measures a little less than 6 inches across. The surface to the top.actually looks very nice.with no crazing. All are in good condition for their age with no cracks, large chips, or repairs. There is dark staining to the backs on some of the tiles and some remnants of a cloth type wall hanger. I'm not very certain of the concept behind these tiles, but 3 appear to be hand decorated and have a glaze. One(which looks like the state of Ohio) is hand-painted, but not glazed. Antique Folk art Hand Painted Tile- Great boy in a bathtub scene- Signed
Great unique hand painted tile featuring a chubby boy in the bathtub. This item features lovely colors and has a nice folk art feel. The tile is signed at the right lower corner E Fzn. and has some writing on the back in pencil that is difficult to decipher. The image and front are in good condition with minor signs of wear consistent with it's age. The piece measures 14" x 5" There are some chips on the edges around the piece. Old Russian enameled tile king star religious primitive folk art wall hanging
Four tile glazed ceramic tiles forming a king with Star of David. Tiles have been etched. Then painted, enameled and glazed. Very decorative European type of art. Not sure of age, but appears to be very old. Came from an estate sale many years ago and was packed in storage all this time. Item is heavy and weighs over 6 pounds. Tiles are framed in a very ornate wooden frame with olive green velvet trim. The tiles are well-mounted and the piece is in original condition with some dings to the tiles, but nothing that can be seen from afar(use closeup feature) The frame measures 20" high, 11 1/2" wide, and 2" thick.
