Offered here is a very fine ANTIQUE ART NOUVEAU-VICTORIAN TRANSFER PRINT CERAMIC ART TILE. POSSIBLY MANUFACTURED BY T. R. BOOTE, ENGLAND, CIRCA 1890'S. This tile measures 6 inches by 6 inches. On the front face it has a very small chip in the lower left-hand corner/edge that is hardly noticable from the front(see last picture) The design of this ART TILE is a nice maroon and white flower with large green leaves. The tile has corner designs in a yellow color. On the back there is no name or manufacturer name that I can see. There are concentric rings with the outer ring having a mark of the letter"G" in a circle and directly opposite that the number"4" Also. Antique Pottery Minton TILE THE TANNER Stoke on Trent England RARE MOHR SMITH
I am offering on Buy It Now an antique tile from Mintons China Works. This very rare find from circa 1875 consists of a cobalt and white tile from the Mohr Smith Industrial Series from Stoke on Trent. England. The tile measures 6" X 6" and 1/2" thick. This tile depicts a Tanner and his helper at work a a hide with a brick wall background. He looks like a strong layman working at his trade. The scene is very detailed and there is old English writing saying The Tanner. I have noted that this rare tile is in very good condition with minimal wear as seen in the pictures. This tile is marked on the back and has slight cement residue from use. I am selling several other tiles from this same series in varying condition. They consist of a beautiful Ringnecked Preasant and Mountain Quail signed by A. Singer. The third tile is of two geese in flight(unsigned) With the wood frame they meausre 7 1/2" square. The backs have rubber protective bumpers when used as trivets(3 are missing) and holes drilled in the back for hanging on a wall. Lot of 17 H & R Johnson Ceramic Tiles England Vintage Antique Pink Rose Gray
For sale are 17 vintage ceramic tiles made by H& R Johnson Ltd. in England. I don't have any history about these tiles- I bought them online about 15 years ago for a remodeling job. And never used them. I would describe the design as Art Nouveau, with a Moroccan accent. Two pink roses with green leaves are featured against an off-white background, surrounded by a Moroccan-style black"frame" The background is a true gray(not bluish) scalloped design. Measurements: 6 in x 6 in square each 5/16 in to 3/8 in thick(slight variations between tiles; most are close to 3/8 in thick) CONDITION: All tiles are in good condition. The fronts of the tiles have some crazing; see 4th photo. There are no chips on the fronts of the tiles and no chips on the front edges. There are some minor chips on the back edges, which don't detract ... morefrom the tiles' appearance. I see no grout on the backs of the tiles- just some darkening of the light-colored ceramic. There is some variation between tile colors, especially the gray background(see 2nd photo) There are some manufacturing defects(see discoloration in off-white areas in first photo) Please contact me if you would like more photos, or need more information about the tiles. The tiles are not returnable, unless it is determined I have purposefully misrepresented the condition of the tiles. They have an off-white background and a fanciful arrangement of flowers, leaves, and swirled lines in a warm brown color, about the same shade as this print. On the back they all have brown stamped numbers; No. 2861 Rd No. 313518" The tiles are 6" square and 3/8" thick. They are all in excellent condition. With no cracks, chips, or loss of glaze. There is light crazing scattered over the surface of most of them. One has what looks like a small chip in the bottom left corner, but it is under the glaze. It measures 6" x 6" and features high relief yellow flowers and green stems with a green diamond shape design at each corner against a bright white field. The glazes appear to be Majolica. Wonderful early Mintons tile with young woman carrying a jug over her shoulder. This brown transferwere tile is in great shape! There are no discoloration problems. The color is vivid throughout the tile, sorry about the glare on a few of the photos, the glazing is in excellent condition) There is extremely minor wear to the very edge of the tile on the upper left side, but you really have to look close to notice it at all, it may have been there in the making.
