There are signs of cracks on the tile, but these only look to be part of the glazing. ... moreWhen i run my fingers over the cracks, they are smooth like the other parts of the tile. There is a small bot of damage to the corner of the tile, as can be seen in the pictures. I am not sure of the date of this tile, but as a best guess i would say 1970s. This superb tile was made by William Godwin. Lugwardine, Hereford around 1900. It has a heavily moulded pattern of leaves and flowers with a snail at the bottom. The whole pattern is coloured with strong majolica glazes. The tile is 8 inches square and is very heavy. The back of the tile is shown in picture#2. It is in good condition apart from a little rubbing to a couple of high points in the pattern although this does not affect the appearance on the tile. Great old dcorative tile actually measures 7 7/8" figures 8" w/ grout. Would be fantastic trivet. Wall art, or leaning in cabinet with pottery vases. Old chip in one corner is about 1/2" X 1/8" and two other corners have slight surface chips. I do not know the age of this wonderful tile. The back stamp may help someone to identify; it is the letter'D' inside a triangle, which is inside of a circle. Great gift for someone with last name beginning with'D' who happens to be in recovery.they would appreciate front& back. About 3/8" thick.

Measures 3/8" thick. 8" X 8" square, 1 chip on the corner& a few scratches, dirty on sides& bottom, smells like it was used outside maybe as garden art or a trivet on a patio. This tile shows no signs of being glued down but was used for something or packed in a wet area based on the smell of the outdoors. Weights almost 2 pounds before packed. This auction is for one 8" x 9-3/4" Delft Blue Wall Plaque/Tile. Produced by Joost Thooft& LaBouchere, impressed mark on reverse) De Koninklijke Porceleyne Fles. The artwork is after Dutch artist, Jan Vrolyk. The subject is a pasture scene with three cows grazing near a cow pond in the foreground and a fourth cow grazing in the background with a farmer close by. I checked the Royal Delft site on the internet and found the following information about the letters and numbers on the back: the"393" is an internal company code; the"F" is the painter's initial; and the"AC" denotes the year code of its production, 1907. Condition: at the top of the plaque on the front. There are three areas of damage where edge pieces of the picture are missing. At the top edge on the back of the tile there are two ... morevery tiny chips where the tile may have once been toe nailed into a frame, as I have seen other examples displayed this way. They were manufactured by Tichelaar Makkum; one of the oldest Dutch pottery factories in Holland. The motif floral Nicely glazed surface.
