3 x 18TH. CENTURY DUTCH DELFT MANGANESE TILES FRAMED EACH TILE 13 X13 x 7mm
Antiques. Collectables, Paintings, Fine Ceramics and Glass 3 FRAMED 18 TH. CENTURY DUTCH DELFT MANGANESE TILES These three Dutch. Delft, manganese tiles are dated to around 1750. They make a superb set mounted in their frame. The ground is cream and design is in purplish brown colour. The scenes on the tiles are of the canal with windmill. Boats and farm or church with small designs in the corners. They are uniquely hand painted in this wonderfully naive style. The condition of all 3 tiles is particularly good for this age. There are a few frits and nibbles to the edge. Some crazing and the tile on the right is slightly brown on the top, this may be the result of old tobacco smoke. Each tile measures 13cm x 13 cm x 7mm(approximately) or 5¼ inches x 5¼ inches. I'm afraid the colour looks varied as I was having problems with my camera. Manganese is a mineral used since Egyptian times to stain glazes and bodies. The colour varies depending on the glaze. Lead glazes give a purplish brown colour. As with these tiles. Manganese mixed with iron in an alkaline glaze creates a rich black tone. Delftware tiles were very popular. Popular decorative motifs included landscapes and flowers. With smaller designs in each corner. In Britain early delftware copied the Dutch manganese palette. Maw & Co. Relief Tile Classic Woman Looking in Mirror Antique Victorian Framed
This nicely designed tile is a little gem. 4" x 8" It is an excellent example of good British relief sculpture. The frame just hugs the edges and the resulting object has nice depth.The classical woman, Greek or Roman, seems to be in a window or doorway. The frame is 1 1/2 inches deep. The gold trim adds to the illusion of depth. The tile can be removed from the frame by peeling some tape and pulling out some pins.

This is a hand-painted framed Dutch tile. The entire piece is 4-7/8" square and the tile is approximately 3" square. It is signed with what looks like J. Gids. It features a traditional image of windmills and houses. The paint is cracked. There are three tiny round dots of paint that has flaked off- these appear as three white dots in the photos. The black lacquer frame has some very minimal signs of wear. But, overall is in good condition. It is covered in the back with black paper. There is a paper Made in Holland label on the back. Antique Vintage Dutch Couple Framed Tile Wall Hanging La Coruna Spain
For sale is a charming hand painted tile that has been beautifully framed with notations of La Coruna on the backing which is difficult to read due to its age. The frame measures about 5 3/4" square. The tile about 3" square. the picture depicts a Dutch girl and boy noting the wooden shoes on their feet. The backing on the frame is quite aged and brittle from its age. The tile is encased in a legged primitive wooden frame and can serve as a trivet or as a wall hanging. The tile by itself is about 6" wide and 11¾" tall. With the frame the piece is about 8" x 13¾" The tile is in vintage condition with a small chip near the lower right corner. This is such a gorgeous vintage painting on tile with the sweetest birds! This is old- just look at the frame with the beading- I would guess the 1920's or earlier. It measures 7 1/2" tall and 7 1/2" wide. The actual tile measures 5 3/4" wide and 5 3/4" tall. It is signed C. Howard. The frame has a ding in it at the top and a couple other scratches. The wood plaque frame does have some scuffs/dings with a nice patina. On back of picture is a wire hanger. The 6 tiles make-up a scene is a young girl getting ready to take a bath in a bathtub. nbspA very pretty Polychrome Tile measuring 5 x 5 hand painted by the Makkum Tichelaar Co in Holland and is called a Polychrome Tile. It has the Sparkling Mica in the clay you can see on the back of the tile( had to take it off and then reglue it back on to get the backmark) I am not sure of the age as I don't know how to date the tiles.
